The purple-haired ghoul had been doing better finally, between finding something she felt comfortable doing and successfully making it by herself to and from the daily class. She had even started considering trying the ladder to the observation deck again - tomorrow, though, probably. Not today. Not quite there yet. At least, she'd been considering it until she started trying to explore the treetop city a little more. There were simply too many edges, too many places where she almost was required to look down and see how far it was to the forest floor. And since she'd lost sight of all of her friends after the class, there wasn't even anyone to stick by, to distract her with talk or just their presence. Which eventually resulted in one very, very unhappy ghoul, on a thin walkway with a ladder on one side and a bridge on the other, and really no way to get off that she felt like she could take. So she stopped, and did her best to calm herself down and catch her breath, but it looked like it would take a while.

Herryk, while large in stature, was actually feeling pretty comfortable up in the trees. After the class and meditation, the draugr was feeling more than a little relaxed and ... centered? Was that the term? Herryk was going to have to try such things again; the meditation had been exactly what he'd needed to get his mind focused for the next week. Reluctant to let that peaceful feeling go, Herryk found himself bumbling along the treetops. The canopy was a brilliant green over his head, and Herryk found himself enjoying the twittering of birds and the warmth of the breeze that sent the leaves overhead shimmying. He was slightly surprised when he stumbled upon the ghoul he'd seen Roch with earlier. The poor thing looked to be in distress and so Herryk approached, clearing his throat once he was in earshot.

Upon hearing a sound, Mitzi glanced up from where she'd been staring at the floor. It took her a moment to recognize the draugr, to remember that he was the one who had offered her help earlier in the day. Really, though, at this point she was happy to see just about anyone. She managed to pull up a shaky smile, not really wanting to admit how nervous she was. "H... Hi," she stammered out, then swallowed, closed her eyes for a moment, and tried again. "Hi. Just, wandering around?" Her voice was more steady the second time, although still a little shaky.

Herryk's lips parted in a smile as he moved forward, seeming oddly at ease despite the precarious altitude. "Yes. After class earlier, Herryk is feeling very.. ah, introspective?" His brows knit as he moved closer, a worried expression on his face. She seemed to be a little skittish; the heights? Poor ghoul. Herryk's smile grew brighter. "Herryk believes that such a powerful clan would not build a rickety building, and so he has come to trust that these are very sturdy walkways and ladders." The draugr pressed his hand to his chest. "After all, Herryk has not fallen yet, and there is nothing graceful or agile about Herryk." Maybe that would help. If not, he would have to try different tactics.

She managed a laugh, if it was a bit uncertain. "I keep telling myself that, but you know, it doesn't seem to help that much?" She took another deep breath, and then nodded to him. "Thanks, though. I think I just need to keep moving, and find somewhere where I can't see over the edge."Up ahead, past the bridge, was a ladder leading to what looked like some larger rooms. If she could get there, she could rest a bit, and probably be all right. So she finally got herself heading forward again, focusing on her goal. pinchmonster No worries, I was slow in getting it started in the first place.

Herryk chuckled warmly, dipping his head in a nod as she started moving ahead. He followed behind her at a leisurely pace. "Herryk is here. If this ghoul needs assistance, Herryk will help." He hoped that might reassure her, but just in case it didn't, Herryk continued. "It will be fine..." he trailed off, waiting for her to give her name. Usually those he came into contact with never felt the need to ask his name - it was pretty obvious after spending a few seconds in his presence that his name was Herryk.

Now that her head was a bit clearer, she was actually able to pick up on the unspoken question. "Oh, sorry. I'm Mitzi," she replied over her shoulder. She'd stop and introduce herself properly, except... really, getting somewhere "safe" was most important now. And any distraction from that might get her too scared to continue again. Finally she reached the ladder and started up. Almost there.

Like the polite boil he was, Herryk merely waited at the bottom of the ladder while Mitzi hefted herself up. If she fell, he'd catch her, and if she didn't, well, that was all for the better. "Mitzi," Herryk called thoughtfully. "It is a nice name, Mitzi, and a pleasure to meet this Mitzi-ghoul, as well." The draugr cleared his throat. "Slow and steady, Mitzi! Do not move too fast, hmm?"

She blushed a bit at his words of encouragement, mostly because she really shouldn't have needed them. She was getting so frustrated with the way that everything here freaked her out, that she couldn't handle even simple things like walking between two buildings because she'd start thinking of the fall on either side. She looked around the room while she waited for Herryk to come up as well. A painting caught her eye, of several War horsemen viciously killing their opponents. At a first glance it didn't even occur to her that they would be humans - Halloweeners don't kill humans, right? So when she went over to look at it more closely, she was a little shocked to see that was the case. She glanced back at the ladder to see if Herryk had made it up yet, trying to decide whether she wanted to point it out and ask him about it.

Herryk clambered up the ladder, ignoring the creaking give of the rungs. They'd hold his weight - he was certain of that. It didn't take him long to reach the top. He offered Mitzi a friendly smile before the feathers scattered about caught his attention. He shuffled closer, kneeling to trace his fingers across the scarred wood.
"A vicious clan," he mumbled to himself.
Something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. He moved closer, just to check it out.

Herryk reached out, his fingers coming into contact with one of the tokens he'd seen before. "It appears there was a fight here, Mitzi." He chuckled softly, lifting to his feet before quietly making his way back to the ghoul. "It is not so bad up here, hmm? Is all well with Mitzi?" Quote: Horsemen point prompt! You also see something glint next to you, but is it just a trick of the light? Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you obtain one horsemen point!

The boil distracted her from examining the painting, and she turned back to see what he was looking at. "Yeah, definitely," she agreed, thinking of the image behind her, but not pointing it out after all. Glancing around the room again, she noticed that it looked like something had recently been burned in the fireplace. Something... paper. She walked over and knelt beside it to pick up a small piece that had escaped the fire. She looked at it, trying to puzzle it out, but there wasn't enough. "I wonder what happened here?"As Herryk asked if she was all right, she looked up, a bit startled. "Oh! Yeah, doing better... Although I'm not looking forward to going back down," she replied wryly. "I can mostly handle it as long as I'm not right next to an edge, just, that walkway..." Which she'd have to pass again to get back to the main part of the village.

Herryk moved to crouch down next to Mitzi, picking up a piece of paper as well. Twisting it between his fingers, his broad shoulders hefted in a shrug. "Herryk is not sure," he let the paper flutter back to the fireplace as he rose to his feet. It was a curious thing; why would someone burn paper in a fireplace so high in the woods? Ah, well. This clan was a mysterious one; not nearly as blood-thirsty as he'd first thought. Bracing his hands on his hips, Herryk chuckled softly. "If Mitzi wishes, Herryk can carry Mitzi back down?" He shrugged again, lifting a hand to rub his jaw. "It is not a hassle. As long as Mitzi can hang on tight!" That was said with a bright smile. Herryk moved around the room a bit more, taking in the sights. "How long has Mitzi been enrolled at Amityville?"

Mitzi stood up as well, and was about to head over to the ladder when the draugr made his offer. She stopped, more than a little surprised, and thought about it. It didn't take long, though; the thought of clinging to another person who was taking those same ladders and narrow walkways was even worse than the thought of taking it herself. Even if Herryk felt very surefooted, the ghoul was sure she would find it terrifying. "Thanks for the offer, but I think I can handle it myself," she replied after just a moment. "Oh, I've been at Amityville since Christmas." She waited while he looked out over the trees, instead keeping her focus inside the room, but not really finding anything of interest. She poked a bit at the furniture, just to take a look at the workmanship.

Herryk's eyes were drawn back to the feathers and the deep scores in the wooden floorboards of the room.
"Herryk is year two.. time has flown. Sometimes it is very hard to believe." He hefted his shoulders in a shrug. "Herryk's ghoulfriend is year two as well! Freya is not here, though. Mitzi would probably like Herryk's beloved."
Turning his head to smile at Mitzi, another glint caught Herryk's eye. He moved over to investigate.
