It may have taken skipping breakfast and seemingly running all over the Weyr a few times, but that was a small price to pay. In the past turns Ticene had come to appreciate time to herself so much more than she had before becoming a rider, even more so than being a Weyrling. Then she had only had to deal with lessons and Calith's demands for attention. Now she had an entire Weyr's welfare to look after. Ticene had been charged with having to sort out the mess that the Weyr had been left in. It had taken some time, but finally she had managed to work through the backlog. Things seemed to, at last, have some form of order to them and the workload was getting easier because of it.
Ticene turned her face up to the sun and shut her eyes. She had to admit, this had been a perfect day to plan for some rest. Tic was happily lying in the grass beside the lake, stretched out with her elbows supporting her weight. If she'd been able to find R'yn then she would've tried to convince him to join her. He was probably doing something worthwhile like working on formations or some other duty of his.
A splash pulled her out of her musings, tilting her head Ticene opened one eye to see Calith looking at her from the water. It has been a long time since we have spent time like this, Mine. The dragon observed as she lazily flicked her tail back and forth. Ticene smiled in response to her bonded words. "Yes, my love, far too long." Tic closed her eyes again, frowning slightly when she heard a quiet rumbled coming from Calith. You would like him to be here with you, Gereth's? I will call him. Sitting up quickly Ticene held her hands out. "Oh no, don't do that, I'm sure he has something important to do." The dragon let out a snort and lifted her head out of the water so that she could look down at her rider. Nothing should be more important to him than spending time with you. Calith turned her focus to finding her bronze mate. Gereth, Mine is at the lake and she would very much like yours to join her. Now.

Mine, Calith's wants you by the lake. Calith says to hurry.
Of course. Just when he'd thought he had a free moment, someone was calling for him. R'yn had thrown himself onto his bed after being unable to find Ticene. He'd hoped he would be able to catch up on his sleep. He sat up, stretching. "Alright, Gereth. She's the boss. Kindly ask Calith what part of the lake she can be found." To R'yn's ultimate displeasure, however, Gereth ignored him. The bronze, instead, nudged him roughly with his nose.
Get dressed, Mine.
"Has Calith said what it's for?" R'yn asked, scrambling off of his bed furs and into the tunic he'd tossed aside. "Is something wong with Tic? Transfers? Does she want something?"
I do not know, Gereth replied, stretching. Calith says to hurry. We must hurry.
Was Calith blooding her kills? Was she about to rise? Shards! What was going on? It was typical of Calith to be impatient, but did the gold have to be so vague? He nodded at Gereth. "Meet you at the lake, then. Best go see what Calith wants."
Mine is coming, Gereth told Calith as he landed. Do you wish to swim? Green whirling eyes studied the lake before him. It has been too long. We must spend more days like this.

Ticene shook her head as Gereth landed nearby; meaning R'yn wouldn't be far behind. Although she did wonder why the bronze hadn't simply brought his rider with him, rather than leave him wherever he had been. Oh well, looked like there was no stopping it now. As per usual Calith had forcefully pushed the wheels into motion and now there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. Sighing softly Ticene lay back down in the grass and shut her eyes, allowing herself to focus on the things around her instead of worrying over problems again. Today she was supposed to be relaxing, so she turned her mind to focus on the sunlight on her face, the grass brushing at her arms, the sound or the water lazily hitting the shore and the gentle breeze she hadn't noticed before now whispering over her. If R'yn wanted to be irate he could just rush back to whatever he had been doing before and leave her be, but she doubted he would be angry with her.
Calith had been lounging in the shallows when Gereth landed. She hadn't actually asked him to come along too, but had no objections to him being there. She opened one eye as he touched down before it shut once again. The small waves washed up against her sides and she was content to lie here all day with hers nearby. However when Gereth spoke to her she was polite enough to open her eyes in acknowledgement. She turned the offer to swim over in her head for a while. Did she really want to get up and continue to move about? While it was nice to simply bask in the sun a smile might be rather refreshing. I suppose a swim could be quite pleasant. Calith mused with a quiet hum as she got to her feet and made her way into deeper water.

R'yn was indeed not far behind Gereth. He'd cursed himself for temporary forgetting that the bronze could have simply betweened them to Ticene. Though, this way, he had time to stop by the kitchens and collect a basket of food. Mmm, bubblypies. If Ticene wanted to talk serious--well, at least he had something to look forward to.
He was surprised to find Gereth and Calith in the lake when he arrived. It reminded him of turns past, when they had come to play in the water here. "Ah, Weyrwoman," he teased her, "Busy day, isn't it?" He sat beside her, grinning. "I brought us something to eat, Tic. Gereth said Calith wanted us?"
When Calith joined Gereth in the water, the bronze moved to gently place his nose against her golden hide. Mine is content. Yours, too. I like this. We should make them be this way more.

Lying as content and peaceful as she was Tic heard R'yn's approach before he spoke. Although she imagined Calith would alert her if it was someone else, she couldn't be certain it was him and so remained silent. Until he teased her of course, which brought a smile to her lips, while her eyes remained closed. "Terribly busy, Weyrleader." Ticene opened one eye slightly, being somewhat blinded by the sun in this position, to look at R'yn. When he sat beside her she shifted onto her side and proped herself up with her elbow, head resting on her hand. As soppy as it sounded she could simply lie there and look at R'yn's grin forever, of course she wouldn't tell him that. She didn't want him getting too complacent after all.
The rider had to laugh lightly at her weyrmate pointing out he'd brought food, how typical. "Always thinking ahead when it comes to your stomach, hm?" She didn't mind of course, R'yn was hardly going to eat the Weyr into any trouble by himself and as long as he didn't end up become so lazy as to not use the energy his food gave him then she wouldn't stop him. Ticene looked over at the two dragons in the water and made a bit of a face. "Yes, well, it wasn't anything pressing. Calith just decided that since I wasn't working that you should be here too. She didn't pull you away from anything, did she?" Tic planned on leaving out just how much she had wanted R'yn around. Love him she might, but Tic still had some troubles with sharing when she wanted something just for herself.
The large dragon turned her head to look over at their riders on the shore. Calith's eyes whirled slowly as she watched her chosen smile and laugh, expressions and sounds that had been sadly lacking in her's life lately. Calith had mulled over her chosen's situation, at first stating that as she was in charge of the Weyr then she was allowed to do whatever she wanted. That was what Calith did, why shouldn't her rider get to? Unfortunately it seemed many people relied on hers to make sure things were alright and she was too good to let others suffer just so she could be selfish and do what she wanted. Calith rumbled quietly before moving further into the water. It would be nice if they could be this way more, but they have things they must do and it gets in the way.

"Someone has to," R'yn gave another grin. "Think about my stomach, I mean. Those kitchen workers..." He paused dramatically, shaking his head. "You'd think they've forgotten what work is! Anyway, I brought enough for both of us," he added with a smile. "Bubblypies! Still warm." When he'd been a candidate, bubblypies had been a favorite. That hadn't changed. It was quite possibly one of the only things about the young man that hadn't, in the last five turns.
He'd grown from the tiny, scrawny weyrling, to a tiny, less scrawny Weyrleader. His tan had deepened from long hours of drills and practice.
"Oh, no," R'yn shook his head. "Heeding a gold's wishes is far more important than what I was doing." He would have traded all the naps in Pern for time well spent with his Weyrmate. "Besides," he added with a grin. "I'd rather spend time with you."
Gereth rumbled in agreement, sending a wave made with his tail at his mate. They must learn to spend their time wisely, the bronze said. If they were not so busy, they would have more time to be like this.

Ticene raised a sceptical eyebrow at that evaluation of the kitchen workers. She knew R'yn didn't really mean that they were that lazy, which was why there was still a small smile on her face. "Well, what with the entire Weyr to feed you have to consider they can't always be making food for you." Tic had to close her eyes and shake her head as he mentioned bubblypies. It must be a requirement for Istan Weyrleaders to enjoy bubblypies so much, even if R'yn had been that way before reaching his current status.
"I should hope so." They may both have other responsibilities that had to take priority over spending time together, but Ticene would like to think spending time with her was something R'yn preferred to do. She often, when her duties meant that her entire day was used up and at night she was too exhausted to stay awake, missed the short time that the two of them had had together. Before Calith had risen and they had only been riders, they had been able to spend so much more time together then. "Just what were you doing anyway?" Tic said after a sigh, trying to pull herself out of her somewhat melancholy thoughts. She was with R'yn now, that should be enough.
Calith dipped a wing into the water and flicked a wave back at the bronze for his insubordination in splashing her. There seems too much for them to do in the time they have. They were not prepared for this to happen and there were many messes left behind for them to clean up by those before them. Dipping her head Calith temperoraily dissappeared below the water for a moment before re-emerging, the dragon was thinking and she usually preferred to do that in a sunny wallow somewhere.

"But since they have an entire Weyr to feed, they don't mind always having something on hand for me," R'yn winked at Ticene. It was nice, this time. He'd missed being able to spend time Tic. It was nice to be able to act as if their only worries were for each other and their dragons. "Who better to remind them that they have hungry mouths to feed?" R'yn, as a candidate, had often been a bother to the kitchen staff. He'd certainly had gotten into his share of trouble! Stealing sweet rolls, bubblypies, meatrolls to share with his firelizard.
"Of course, love," R'yn gave her another grin. "As for what I was doing... Well. I might have been studiously examining my plans for drills. I may have been carefully planning out a rescue..." He shrugged, and smirked at her. "I wasn't," he added, in case she began to fret. "We had the same idea. I fell asleep." He laid back down onto the grass, and carefully took her hand in his.
"It's nice," he said, "to be able to spend time doing nothing. I always took it for granted before becoming Weyrleader. Now I know how lucky the others are." He paused and moved to place a kiss on Tic's cheek. "But," he added, "there are benefits to being me."

"Ah, so that's what it is?" He was just reminding them of their duty to the Weyr, of course. "And you have to be sure that everything they make is suitable, right?" Ticene grinned as she played along with his game. Of course he had to check the kitchen's produce. It was all down to quality control afterall. Even though really anything to do with the kitchen's work was her responsiblity. Not that Tic minded. At least she'd find out quickly if there was any problem in the kitchen with R'yn's constant visits.
Ticene began to get slightly worried that she had pulled R'yn away from something important. She really didn't like to think that R'yn had been pulled away from caring for the Weyr just to spend time with her. She loved being able to simply be together, of course, but Ticene knew that the Weyr had to come above what she wanted. That was what the Weyrleaders had to live with. Even if some selfish individuals had chosen to abandon that responsibility. Tic was pulled out of her gradually darkening thoughts by R'yn's smirk. "Oh, so that's what Calith so harshly pulled you from, hm?"
Ticene smiled as R'yn took her hand, the smile softening as he spoke. She never knew what to do when he was this sweet. Ticene wasn't made for cute moments, she wasn't sure how to act in them. Giving in to the fact she didn't know what to say to him Ticene simply leaned forward and gave her weyrmate a brief kiss. "I love you."

"She was terribly cruel about it," R'yn teased. It was clear from his tone, and expression that Calith hadn't been anything of the sort--and that he hadn't minded being awoken in the fashion he had been. "Forcing Gereth to get me out of bed like that." He shook his head, glancing towards the gold before grinning. "Honestly, I was doing something important in my dreams." He hesitated, before looking back to Ticene. "Though, nothing as important as spending time with you, love," He reached a hand over to stroke her hair.
"There's nothing more important than my spending time with you," he muttered into her ear, returning her kiss. "I love you too."
Gereth splashed Calith, eyes blue with amusement. It is good for them to be together like this, he said. It is good for us to be together, too.
