The sun was high in the sky, almost as if it were mocking Aodhan and the heavy armor he wore. He could feel sweat, trickling like small streams down his back, pooling on the curve of his backside, only to be soaked into the undergarments. It was the most unpleasant experience he'd ever felt, but he was honestly used to it, he just hated it.
Being a knight wasn't easy, and being one half the size of most, and with the largest hammer to boot... he had to do what was necessary to get respect. And respect he had gotten. After his near suicide mission with a group of witch eaters, and the rescue of several of his companions, he was certainly gaining attention, but he wasn't at the top, and that's where he wanted to be.
However, that mission was more of a defeat to him. He'd lost many friends. Yes, he'd saves some, but he'd lost too, and that was a defeat for him. He sighed, going to find shade underneath a tree. He was in the forest, where he was told to go and wait for his new partner. He was fine with working in pairs, but he felt it too soon. He'd just lost his old one to one of the eaters...
He rested his head against a tree, listening to the soft chirping of birds as they went about their lulling symphonies. The small breeze he could feel, that slipped through the cracks of his armor was extremely welcoming. All this was so, lulling. He began to feel his eyelids go heavy. He fought it at first, jerking his head every so often, but it wasn't easy and suddenly, he found himself asleep.
He'd kick himself for that one later...

Nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary in the forest. The birds sang their songs to whoever cared to hear them and there was a soft rustling of leaves that one might assume was from an occasional breeze. Only that that was the work of no breeze but one red panda that looked as if it needed to be somewhere. Fast. One, two, three, leap. One, two, three, leap. Yvette chanted the litany in her mind, her actions in tandem with her words as she deftly flitted from tree to tree towards the spot where she was supposed to meet her new partner.
Trust her to go on and on in her conversation with Shirou and totally lose track of the time... again. So much for making a good first impression. Hopefully her new partner... ...what was his name supposed to be again? Something that started with the letter A and certainly not Apple. Ah yes... Aodhan wouldn't mind her tardiness too much. Not that she had a reputation or habit of being late though. Nope, certainly not she.
Leaping from the branch, the red panda somersaulted once before shifting into the mononoke knight that it was to land gracefully before Aodhan's sleeping form. "Sorry I'm... late..?" Yvette had every intention of having her self introduction lead to an honest and sincere apology for making Aodhan wait. The words were already at the tip of her tongue and about to spill from her lips in fact when she decided against it at the last moment and remained entirely silent so as to avoid prematurely waking the dozing knight.
So... this was the knight whom everyone was talking about lately huh? The one who pulled off that miraculous feat with the humongous hammer he wielded during the disastrous mission that almost wiped out an entire squadron. Eyes sliding to the weapon that laid momentarily forgotten on the ground next to Aodhan, Yvette studied the hammer closely with wide-eyed wonder, almost not daring to breathe for fear of disturbing the peacefully slumbering male.
Such careless behaviour. Didn't he know that he should never leave his weapon unguarded and out in the open like that? What if someone... The ruby-haired mononoke stopped that train of thought right there and then, a mischievous smile curving the edges of her lips at the same instant.
It took her all of 5 minutes to put her intended plan into motion. The hammer was heavy so she couldn't afford to carry it too far, lest Aodhan woke up on his own and came looking for it. Which would make an even better first impression for sure. With the hammer safely hidden within a hollow tree trunk 5 metres away from their current location, Yvette sat herself down on the ground next to her new partner, leaning back against the tree and taking a deep breath as she carefully composed herself and then simply waited.
