Inner Peace

The room was divided into cubicles, each cubicle with a small, rectangular carpet in it. The whole place was so quiet that it was almost odd, and smelt strongly of incense; however, the smell seemed to calm your mind, and some students might find themselves feeling a little too relaxed or sleepy; there wasn't really anyone in the room to man it, just a sign lit by candles.

"Calm your mind, seek inner peace"

Perhaps you should try meditation... As you take a seat in one of the cubicles, a horsewoman of Death appeared behind you, and lowered a curtain that closed ypur cubicle off from the rest of the room; maybe there was someone manning the room after all...

Quote:
-> This is a solo activity!

Roll 1d10
1-2 : You got distracted...
3-4 : You fell asleep!
5-6 : You feel almost... Tranquil. (+1 concentration)
7-8 : You feel like you're floating on a cloud... (+2 concentration)
9-10 : You feel light as a feather, and surprisingly at peace with yourself. (+3 concentration)

Once you have at least 3 concentration points...
-> You've gained 1 Horseman point!
-> From the peace, turmoil rises!
-> You suddenly remember a fear you have. It could be anything; an old memory, a phobia...

Roll 1d100:
1-20 : Your concentration broke immediately, and you leave feeling shaken.
21-40 : You lasted a minute, battling with this fear, but ended up breaking into a cold sweat as your concentration shatters. You couldn't help shaking as you leave.
41-60 : You feel so conflicted, so unsure- A hand rests on your shoulder. It is the horsewoman of Death; she smiles, and escorts you out.
61-80 : Despite your uncertainty, your concentration stayed and when you finally open your eyes, you feel... Relatively at peace. It was as if you got one step closer to overcoming your fear, in that moment. (+1 Horsemen Point)
81-100 : You battled with your fear, beads of sweat cling to your skin. It was tough, and you wasn't sure how many hours you spent in that cubicle, and you might had been crying, but... As you opened your eyes and walked out of the room, your heart is light as a feather. (+2 Horsemen Points)

West trailed behind several of the students he had been conversing with in the main meeting room... or had he gotten ahead of them? After a few minutes, the demon somehow found himself kind of hopelessly lost. He turned into a room that was positively teeming with cubicles and... that smell. It was stronger than it had been in the first room, soothing. It made West angry... and then it didn't. Meh.

Calm your mind, seek inner peace. He supposed he could do that.

West wandered into one of the compact cells and was promptly shut in by an eerily silent ghoul. Silent as the grave. The boil chuckled and took a seat on the small patch of carpet.

After a few minutes of valiantly trying to "seek inner peace," whatever that meant, West heard several loud crashes coming from right outside his cubicle. He shot to his feet and pulled back the curtain, only to find... nothing. There was nothing there.

He frowned and lowered the curtain back into place, dropping back onto the carpet. Stupid death clan. Stupid incense. He was going to meditate if it killed him.

He spent several minutes trying to settle again, but not even the ever-present incense brought him comfort. This was bullshit. Death clan was bullshit with their noises that weren't there and their meditation and their smells. West slammed his fist down onto the carpet under him and crossed his arms. He wasn't pouting. All right, maybe he was pouting a little.

All of a sudden, the fight drained out of him and West fell asleep, his head lowering until his chin rested against his chest.

Several minutes later, he inhaled sharply and awoke. His fist found the carpet again and he yelled, "Screw you!" at no one in particular before remembering he was supposed to be on his best behavior.

At first, West thought he was falling asleep again. He had been reluctantly silent for several minutes now, staring straight ahead at a shimmering fleck of gold in the dark wall. Was it real? Did they really have gold inlaid into the walls here? His father would be thrilled.

He felt light. Puffy. In a good way. Like he was floating. Maybe if this clan's trial had been more like this, he wouldn't be so pissed at them.

The odd, out-of-body sensation only intensified when West closed his eyes. The gold flecks on the wall remained, shimmering behind his eyelids, and for the first time in probably ever, he felt truly serene. The feeling wasn't tinged with the desire to inflict calculated violence, nor was he tired or frustrated by his lack of anger. He simply was.

It was very strange.

The cold veneer of calm remained.  There were no sounds, no scents, nothing brushing against his skin.  He was alone, save for the gouts of blue flame.

One by one, his friends, or at least the people he could tolerate, blinked into existence.  Yaya, Demi, Mandy, Savior, Holly, Barth, Tess, Jericho, Colette... Levi.  They chuckled and joked, even the ones he figured had never even met.  He waved, even grinned slightly as he made his way over to them, but none of them turned, none of them noticed he was there.

"Hey," he muttered.  "HEY!"

They stopped moving, speaking, laughing at the same time, and turned as one, bright blue eyes staring.  West suspected that they still couldn't hear or see him, that some other force was compelling them to bore into him with their eyes, to raise their fingers and silently point at him, to attack.

West gasped as he came back to himself, arms flailing up to protect his face from the sharp gray claws of the people he thought he knew.  He stood up even more quickly than he had before, spitting curses as he stumbled past the curtain behind him and out of the cell.

The Room of Mirrors

Perhaps it was not too good an idea to venture underground, after all, the signage in this place is, for lack of a better term, almost non-existent. After what seems like forever, after walking in a billion circles, you find yourself in a long corridor, seemingly infinite. It is illuminated only by torches along the sides of the walls, though rather more ornate than the ones you have seen before, and you notice, very faintly, carvings in the walls depicting the horsemen of death. Something compels you to walk towards the end; after all, you have already come this far, and you're curious about what you might find. On reaching, the corridor opens up into a large underground cavern, completely empty, except for five full-length mirrors arranged in a half-circle shape, each of them with names inscribed on their frames.

Huh. That seems almost disappointing. You were hoping, maybe, for something like treasure, hidden so far underground. Or even a nice lounge of sorts, to take a rest in. You walk towards one of the mirrors, figuring it wouldn't hurt to take a look in them-

-There is something odd about your reflection. You appear to be seeing double, but you can't figure out why. As you reach out to touch the mirror, you feel a tap on your shoulder..

Instructions
Each day you are allowed to pick up to three mirrors to investigate, please follow the prompt for the mirror you picked! Battling follows normal rules, however you cannot used your FEAR attack or any learned abilities. HP from one fight carries over to the next fight, you do not regain any HP between battles. HP is only reset when the next day rolls over. Once you reach 0hp, your opponent dissolves into smoke that swirls around you, and the next thing you know, you're back where you first started out... except the path you took to get to the chamber is simply gone.

You obtain one point for every mirror-battle won, for a total of three points. These points can be used in the raffle for characters, or to claim minipet prizes.

Mirror - Deimos
Prompt:
You are fighting your current self, it's actually pretty surreal. They say that knowing thy enemy helps, but what happens when your enemy knows you just as well.... welp.

Battle mechanics:
Opponent HP: Your doppelganger starts out with half of your total HP.
Dice: Roll 3 of your normal dice amount for each attack (ie. 3d6 instead of 2d6, 3d8 instead of 2d8, etc)
Damage taken: 5hp per attack, whether you hit or miss!
Extra: if third dice is even: your damage done is the sum of the three dice, subtract 6 l if third dice is odd, add it to your damage taken.

eg. I am a Y1 student, rolling 3d6 to get: 3, 4, 2; I do 3dmg and take 5dmg, my doppelganger takes 3 dmg total.
eg. I am a Y1 student, rolling 3d6 to get: 3, 4, 1; I do 1dmg and take 6dmg, my doppelganger takes 1 dmg total.

Mirror - Μania
Prompt:
You are fighting a version of yourself, completely corrupted by insanity. Feel free to decide your doppelganger's appearance/ etc, but remember that they should look greyed out and somewhat wispy.

Battle mechanics:
Opponent HP: Your doppelganger starts out with half of your total HP.
Dice: Roll 3 of your normal dice amount for each attack (ie. 3d6 instead of 2d6, 3d8 instead of 2d8, etc)
Damage taken: Whatever the third number you roll is. The -6 still applies to your attack!
Extra: Due to instability, your doppelganger takes 100% recoil damage from its own attack!

eg. I am a Y1 student, rolling 4d6 to get: 3, 4, 1; I do 1dmg and take 1dmg, this means my doppelganger takes 2 dmg total.

Mirror - Keres
Prompt:
You are fighting a hunter wielding a weaponised version of yourself. The hunter is completely cloaked, you cannot see their face, however, feel free to make up the appearance of the weapon, taking into consideration how hunter weapons work.

Battle mechanics:
Opponent HP: Your doppelganger starts out with half of your total HP.
Dice: Roll your normal dice.
Damage taken: 5hp per attack, whether you hit or miss.
Extra: Each hit you take weakens you; however this is purely for rp purposes and does not affect dice mechanics.

eg. I am a Y1 student, rolling 2d6 to get: 4,6; I do 4dmg and take 5dmg.

Mirror - Elpis
Prompt:
You are fighting a future version of yourself. Your doppelganger appears as you will when you are fully grown, its attacks are far stronger than yours. On the bright side... this is what you could be! Go forth and learn, little grasshopper.

Battle mechanics:
Opponent HP: Your doppelganger starts out with half your total HP minus 5.
Dice: Roll 3x of your normal dice amount for each attack (ie. 6d6 instead of 2d6, 6d8 instead of 2d8, etc)
Damage taken: Add up the last four dice in your roll and subtract 6.
Extra: Due to instability, your doppelganger takes 50% recoil damage from its own attack!

eg. I am a Y1 student, rolling 4d6 to get: 3, 4, 1, 3, 2, 4; I do 1dmg and take 2dmg, my doppelganger takes 2 dmg total.

Mirror - Aporia
Prompt:
You are fighting a horseman version of yourself. They are stronger than you are, and somehow also much more aggressive. Pick a suitable clan, appearance is up to you to decide.

Battle mechanics:
Opponent HP: Your doppelganger starts out with half of your total HP minus 5.
Dice: Roll 2x of your normal dice amount for each attack (ie. 4d6 instead of 2d6, 4d8 instead of 2d8, etc)
Damage taken: Add up your last two dice, but do not subtract 6.
Extra: Due to instability, your doppelganger takes 100% recoil damage from its own attack!

eg. I am a Y1 student, rolling 4d6 to get: 3, 4, 1, 3; I do 1dmg and take 4dmg, my doppelganger takes 5 dmg total.

He thought he had been heading toward the dumbass jewelry room, but every time he turned the corner, West found himself going deeper into the rock.  The boil spun in a full circle once, but even though he had supposedly begun to walk back in the direction he had come from, he continued on a downward slope.  Eventually, he broke into a jog, certain that there had to be an end to this craziness somewhere.  He cut sharply around one last corner, stopping when he saw the long hall that stretched out in front of him.

Now this was just... weird.

With a shake of his head, the demon continued moving down the hall until it opened out into a cavern.  He approached the first mirror on his left, squinting at the word carved into its frame.

"Deimos..."

"Heh," a familiar voice scoffed.  "Y'look stupid doin' that.  C'mere."

West's brows raised in confusion as he turned to face... himself?  His double responded with a grin and a sock to the jaw.

"Hey!"  West's hand shot out as he returned the favor.

"Least yer not as wimpy as y'look," DoppelWest sneered.  West couldn't help but wonder if his other self understood the concept of irony as he backed up and crouched, waiting for the other boil to hit him again.  He had a feeling only one of them was making it out alive.

His double was quick, quicker than West had anticipated. The next time the other boil hit him, West only managed a glancing blow in return, which earned a chuckle from the other West.

"Y'know, if y'laugh at me, yer laughin' at yerself," West said, kicking hard at his twin, then slamming his elbow into the boils's face when he made a grab for West's leg. The doppelganger got in a hit to West's side, but he shrugged it off with a smirk. This was kind of fun.

"What?" West's double looked legitimately confused.  Confused and exhausted.  West frowned.  He hoped he didn't look this pathetic and small when he was losing a fight.

"Yer me.  Didn't ya know that?"

The boil shook his head as West lunged for him, sending the double flying with a well-placed punch.  The creature from the Deimos mirror disappeared as he hit the wall, and the room went eerily silent once more.

"Hello?"  There was no response.

When no change in his surroundings appeared to be forthcoming, West crossed the room and poked at a second mirror, this one labeled Keres.

"Who're you then?" he taunted, his voice echoing through the silence. "Another one 'a m--"

The demon's words sputtered and died in his throat as he was struck in the back of the head by something all too solid. He turned to face what was sure to be his next enemy, his expression darkening when he saw it was a hunter.

The figure was several inches shorter than he was, and if West had to guess, he would have said it was male from the way it carried itself, like a bully. The human wore one of those obnoxious gold and white coats, and in his right hand was a very familiar weapon.

At first, West didn't understand why he felt a connection to the simple metal club. He hadn't been able to see himself after he had been weaponized, after all, but still, after a moment, he knew.

"It's me," the boil breathed.

The club lit with angry red runes that quickly faded to a more placid blue.

West ran for the human, head low, and butted the man in the stomach with his horns. There was less ripping and tearing than there had been in his vision during the trials, but the hunter still stumbled and snarled in response. It would have to do.

The man moved with a mechanical precision as he struck again, this time aiming for West's right arm, as if he meant to incapacitate the boil. West swung his left hand instead, landing a light hit somewhere in the vicinity of the man's ribs.

The human lashed out with the same mindless and silent efficiency. West caught the club in his left hand, and along with the momentary pain that jolted up his arm, the boil thought he heard... humming. He swayed with something like exhaustion, but kept moving forward with a single-minded determination. As soon as he was no longer in contact with the club, his mind cleared enough to strike. The flurry of strikes he unleashed on the man were kind of weak on their own, but in the end the hunter responded with a pained grunt as he backed up a few steps.

Mirror - Keres
West: 14/50
Damage: 8 + 5 - 6 = 7

Hunter: 9/25
