The Open Den

General Setting:
The open den is one of the larger enclaves underground, that houses the "dining" area for the clans. It is rather sloppy, messy almost, the tables are constructed in natural "mounds", possibly fragments of rocks and stalactites from the ground, which also make for strange pillars/ dividers in a "honeycomb"-like structure. Food is distributed in an equally sloppy fashion: basiclly from large open "troughs" where food is deposited, though you see more Clan members playing with their food than eating it. This area is also rather populated with other Clan members, some who give you curious looks, whispering words in a different language that you don't understand.

OOC: EVENT ROLLS AND PROMPT MECHANICS:

- When your student has arrived in this setting, you can CHOOSE to roll a 100-sided dice at any point in time. You can only do this twice per RP you make. Match your dice roll to the results below for a prompt/ small reaction that your student may discover. RP out results accordingly.

1-20: You look at the buckets of slop that is supposed to be food. Insects are literally wriggling amongst the food. You aren't too sure what to think, but before you can grab a bite, someone else does, grabbing generous portions of greens and.... protein.
21 - 40: Two clans members are seated close to you, and they look at you, clattering in an unrecognizable language. They seem to be playing an odd game involving bones, and have oddly, raised the stakes on their game upon your arrival.
41 - 60: You look at your surroundings, and notice that the pillars in the enclave are all engraved with strange, primitive drawings. Many of them feature blighted crops, and large, oversized insects, with a simple depiction of a sun overhead.
61 - 80: You hear gossiping next to you: "The Heirs are back!". The gossiping gets louder, noisier, though all you can recognize is "Will they be at the ceremony?"
81- 100: You notice that instead of water/ any liquid, all that they have provided are buckets and buckets of oil. (see below for horsemen point prompt)
- Horsemen point prompt! You also see something glint next to you, but is it just a trick of the light? Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you obtain one horsemen point! You can only redeem a max of two from all prompt prps/orps your student is in per OOC 24 hours. You can redeem these here and here!

The island surface didn't give Shenny the fresh air she was looking for. The surface was vast and interesting, but personally she would find it too hot and too hard to breath, so returning underground was an obvious decision. Jack, she's here for such a short time, but she already got to understand some basic habits of Famine horsemen, it all seemed quite logical when you're there. Perhaps, most of their habits are derived from the environment they're dwelling in.

With these thoughts Shenny made her way to a colossal cavern, quite messy and full of holes and tables carved right in the limestone. Tables! Looks like she's in some kind of a dining room or whatever. Some horsemen were lazily spending their time having quite conversations.

Shenny tried to keep her ears open. Most of the folks were speaking in a language she didn't understand, but a couple of horsemen pretty close to her were arguing about heirs quite loudly.

"The Heirs are back!" Shenny remembered a brief encounter with a cocky young Conquest heir during the Famine trials. Mmm... Yeah! She realized heirs did spend some time at Amytiville studying the school. Meanwhile, the conversation ended, and the last thing she heard was "Will they be at the ceremony?"

She couldn't help, but wondered what kind of ceremony it might be, she was almost going to ask one of the horsemen, but then remembered the introduction lecture: "never question". Oh well, she'll know it anyway, when it's time.

Shenny took a quick look on the walls preparing herself to leave. The pillars were fully engraved with the little drawings of crops, insects, and sun. It all look very... authentic. Shenny wondered, if the heirs were fascinated with Halloween's general atmosphere and aesthetics when they first arrived at a town, even for a moment.

On her way back from her first days class Zurine found herself in a large messy looking dining hall, a quick look around revealed several members of the clan eating..or playing..she wasn't entirely sure on which one but it was the architecture that drew her eyes and she spent some time looking at the drawing upon the various pillars. Interesting.

Most of the drawings were fairly primitive looking and depicted suns, bugs and dead plants..all in all somewhat dreary subjects but she supposed they had to mean something to the members of the clans.

Once she had finished looking at the drawings Zurine took a better look at those around her and noted two clansmen playing some sort of game near-by. She couldn't understand what they were saying and the game pieces were rather disturbing..but that wasn't nearly as disturbing as the fact that her presence seemed to have affected the game in some manner. Unsure what this might mean and not seeing any of her fellow students nearby Zurine decided to move on and look at something somewhere else.

Rafael was hungry. The rat was fully accustomed to eating frequently throughout the day, and all of the excitement of the day was causing him to work up quite an appetite.

He wasn't entirely sure if he was supposed to be here. He caught a glimpse of Zurine as she exited, and he waved a little meekly but didn't stop to say hello. He was pretty sure she hadn't seen him and it seemed weird to stop and talk to anyone without Mort there to soften the awkwardness.

Now then...food. Was this where the students were supposed to eat, too?

His ears flicked a little as he wound his way through the cavern. He kept picking up snatches of conversation, but most of it didn't make a lot of sense. It was like trying to understand Cymbeline's instructions, only even worse because it was all conversation in-between the Faminites.

He did catch something about heirs, though, and wondered exactly what that meant. Oh, he really should have tried to study at least a little bit about these horsemen before he got here....

He glanced furtively around, still half-expecting someone to kick him out for sticking his nose into their business. He could see odd, roughly-drawn markings on the stone, and he examined these for awhile. They were interesting, but didn't do much to satisfy his hunger.

Then again, there didn't really seem to be much food here, either.

Stomach grumbling, the rat-boil turned away and wandered back out of the area, weaving past the faminites talking amongst themselves. Maybe he'd try to catch up with Zurine after all and see what she was up to. Or maybe he'd try to find some food somewhere else.

He had a sudden aching suspicion that maybe he wouldn't be eating anything substantial for awhile. Maybe that's why this was called the isle of famine.....

After his training section, Clyde decided a visit to the den might help lift his mood. He could see a couple of clan members sitting around some tables, poking at their food. A few buckets of slop could be seen from where he stood and...wait, was that supposed to be edible? Clyde didn't get a chance to try (he thought better against it) as a clan member took out a huge scope of the unknown substance and left to find a sit.

The varcolac made a face before going back to checking out the den

All Clyde got to see was more buckets of edible[?] slop, and it was getting boring really fast. He let out a bored sigh before exiting the den out of sheer boredom.

Maybe he'll find a better place to check out else where.

Hrrrm . . . While the food didn't smell great, it wasn't terrible here either. Mort wasn't sure what to make of the clan thus far besides the obvious fact that Famine really did live off the land - and hardly anything else. It was strange, listening to the foreign language, watching some of the clansmen play with their food rather than eat it. It was so populated here . . .

Two were at it in a game nearby, and Mort curiously watched them toss about bones and chatter in their unknown language. Upon noting his presence, however, several more bones were added to what looked like the prize pool.

Er . . . alright then?

Curious, and remembering what he'd seen in the oasis, Mrot decided to investigate the water trough where the Famine clan members simply dunked their cups to get water. Strangely, here too there was oil. The zomboil frowned as he touched the water, pressing his fingers together to feel the consistency. What was it with this clan and oil, and what did they need it for so badly that it perpetrated their very water supply?

There it was again, a glint! This time, though, in the water. Hoping no-one minded, Mort stuck a hand in and quickly pulled out another, albeit grimy, token. What were these things, currency? It didn't bug him as much as the oil-to-water find, but . . . to be sure, this clan was a curious one.

Of course, the reaper was wandering throughout the famine areas .. and he eneded to eat. But he had been outside of the hall at first, wandering if eating was going to be worth the effort in the land of .. famine .. Especially, since the very definition of Famine contradicted the definition of a good dinner.

Vaith really should have thought about the mechanics before this. If anything, the eating room was exciting. And dismal. Vaith's eyes searched all around him, neck turning around until it hurt.

Arynek came to an enclave underground, not far from their dorm.
This place seemed to be the "dining" area for the Famine horsemen.
Negative spaces formed by strange pillars, creating a honeycomb patterning alike structure.

To Halloween people, food is not really necessary, but FEAR.
The shadow ghoul noticed that the food was not kept in a proper manner, but in "troughs"?
Even more, the Clan members were playing with the food rather than consuming it? eek
Clearly, they did not expect to see students in this private place, Arynek was stared by many of them.........

The shadow ghoul was just wanting a place to take a rest.
She took a seat and found two clan members already seated next to her.
Arynek noticed that they were BOILS! >/////<
Why she had picked this seat!
BOIL is the creature that the shadow ghoul never know what to do with......
Luckily, they just took a quick look at Arynek, clattering in a language that she couldn't understand.
"Are they talk about me?" Arynek was worried "Hope I didn't do anything inappropriate"
The shadow ghoul also noticed that they were playing a sort of game which involved bones, Arynek didn't want to disturb them, so she just observed stealthily and quietly.
Although the ghoul didn't know any of their language, she found out that the game they were playing might be some kind of gambling which bet was required in each round.
The observant ghoul also noticed that the clan members seemed to raise their stake upon her arrival......why?
Arynek tilted her head while watching.......

Aftering watching the odd game for a while, Arynek suddenly got the idea of trying the food, she went to the "troughs" where the food to be put.

"Is that.......food eek ?" She doubted.
The shadow ghoul took a look in the "troughs", slop was what she saw.
There were some insects squirming in the slop........
Well.....may be the insects were part of the food, Arynek started to believe.
The poor ghoul never taste food like that before, even those her Uchitel cooked look better than this......she was not sure what to do.

Before she decided what to do, someone else grabbed large portions of the slop, with some insects still wriggling inside.......
The clan member who did that seemed not care about the insects at all, he turned around and walked back to his seat.

That might be the way the clan members take in protein......
Arynek believed with doubt.
