She wondered how she got here, she had no recollection of the place before her but it felt oddly familiar. She had blinked, then somehow she found herself standing just a few inches from the water's edge. Confusion made up her expression as she cocked her head slightly and wrinkled her brow. Now the scenery seemed familiar, like she had seen it once but when she tried to access the part of her memory that extended past the day she awoke in the clouds she found herself hitting a wall of fog.
Like she always did when she tried to remember something about what must have been before the God's Haven. She really should have given up.
She stepped forward, her head dropping as she tried to sniff the water. It smelled funny, not at all like the smell of the watering holes she was accustomed to. She jerked back as the ocean's waves rushed at her, splashing her face. Her features contorted into something of disdain as she shook her head.
Curious, her tongue flickered out of her maw to lick her cheek. Immediately she regretted the decision, as she had when she had done almost the same thing in her mortal life, because quite frankly it was a horrible taste. She stood there, paws slightly immersed in the water trying almost desperately not to make an outrageous facial expression as she opened and closed her mouth, running her tongue along it's roof, to try and get the awful taste from her mouth.
"Eugh," she groaned shaking her head and stepping back.
"I can't imagine anyone drinking that water," she told herself, frowning and glancing down at the water trying to lap her toes. "The taste is indescribable," she mumbled, brow furrowing slightly as she tried to think of a word to describe it. She hadn't even realized she'd been speaking to herself. She was practically caring on a full conversation at this point! "No, no," she rambled leaning down to examine the ocean's water. "That's not quite right, there's a word. Something has to describe it, I know it." She clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth. "The word is there, it's on the tip of my tongue, oh dear. What is it?"
She probably looked rather silly, chatting along to herself as she tried to pull the word from it's hidden spot on her tongue.
"Oh what's the word?"

"Salty?"
The word chimed up from behind her, an offering from a god that was much more familiar with the area than it seemed the pale goddess was. He trudged forward into the wake, letting the waves curl and splash around his brown paws.
"And you definitely don't wanna drink it, it would probably make you sick." The younger god splashed at a wave slightly, then brought up his paw to stare at the dripping fur. "It's a funny thing. It looks like water, feels like water, and yet.. it's something altogether different. It can be deadly."
Then he simply smiled, shrugging and dropping his paw back into the water. "It's fun to play in though."
He didn't think much of her having a conversation with herself - his mother had done all that and more. Neither did he seem to care much about formalities..

"Salty?"
The simple word gave her a flash of what she could only assume was once a memory. In a brief flash she saw herself standing in the water with a similar reaction to the taste as she had just experienced. Just like she had in the past, someone had given her the answer to the word she so eagerly sought to describe the strange taste and just like before it was someone she had no idea who they were.
"Yes! Salty!" She chirped excitedly as she whirled around, water splashing around her messily. The white lioness wore a pretty smile on her face as she laughed, a reaction to fact she'd made herself so much more wet than before. "It's awful," she agreed looking down at the water once again. Curiously she lifted her paw and sniffed her soaked fur. "It even smells funny," she laughed shaking her head. "It's really quite a shame," she sighed, a brief frown gracing her lips as her violet eyes took the god's appearance in.
"It's quite stunning," she commented dreamily thinking about her initial awe at the sight of the large expanse of water, it was such a rich blue and the sun's sparkle on the surface could only compliment it. "You would think something so fascinating to look at would taste a little better, how does anyone survive on this?"
Of course she didn't think about fishes, or that most creatures would avoid the salty ocean and seek other waters to quench their thirsts.
"Is it?" She turned her head to look back to see how far the ocean stretched out. It seemed daunting, like one wouldn't want to stray to far into it.

"Well, they don't survive on just this, of course."
He turned a little so he could face the expanse of jungle behind them. Then he waved a paw at it before glancing back over his shoulder at her.
"There's fresh water in there, it leaks down here into the big water. Then there's all sorts of tasty creatures drawn to it," he turned back completely and waded a little deeper into the ocean waves, letting them leap up and n** at his fidgeting wings. "And the ocean itself bring tasty things, too, you just have to try a little harder."
His wings spread then, the feathers dipping low and batting lightly at the water, just enough to splash at her with it. "It might be awful to smell, but it's wonderful too. I grew up here."

"Of course not, that would be silly," she shook her head at the notion. Then again, the goddess couldn't imagine anyone living off the seawater while at the same time could see that something had to or there wouldn't be much point to it at all. "Though it is such a curious thing," she began to ramble, "water like this. I wonder where the...salty taste comes from or how it got there." There had been many a times that the lioness had wondered about the creation of things. So much had changed from the beginning, though her domain was an old one her soul was not. She would always have questions.
A million lifetimes wouldn't be enough to absorb all the information the world had to offer. Especially when details from past lives were lost in rebirth. It was such a complex thing. "Tasty things? Like what?" She asked even as the word popped into her mind. "Oh, wait! You mean fish right?" She knew of fish but she hadn't ever had one, but the word simply came to her as many did.
It was an interesting effect of her domain, especially when it denied her the word she would seek and present her with words that she hadn't exactly been "asking" for. "Did you?" She asked, curious. "The...ocean is gorgeous," she commented wistfully. "So I can't blame you for staying."
