User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Curious as ever, Aymet was poking around the crop rooms and avoiding where the hot sunlight fell in bright beams over some of the stranger-looking plants.

As with any new curiosity, he was overwhelmed with wishing he could replicate exactly what he was looking at on a basis of how cool things looked, because everything in life was measured on a scale of coolness. But his experiences earlier had all but confirmed he had something of a black thumb. He had rationalized it off as a 'lich thing'. Any time he failed to properly care for a living thing like everyone else managed to, it was a 'lich thing'.

He secretly hoped that somewhere around here they had some undead plants so he could stand a chance at growing something.

The Crop Rooms

General Setting:

Closer to the surface seem to be a series of rooms that purposely allow the sunlight to filter in. There are several Clan members busy at work, tending to the various crops, some of them misshapen, some of them wriggling and moving. A few of them are labeled: highly dangerous, or highly poisonous.

OOC: EVENT ROLLS AND PROMPT MECHANICS:

- When your student has arrived in this setting, you can CHOOSE to roll a 100-sided dice at any point in time. You can only do this twice per RP you make. Match your dice roll to the results below for a prompt/ small reaction that your student may discover. RP out results accordingly.

1-20: You lean in to take a closer look at the crops, when one of them spits out a strange fume at you. You feel odd, sleepy, suddenly tired. This status effect will last for an IC hour.
21 - 40: You accidentally pass by a few crops - one of them attacks and bites you. Suddenly you find yourself extremely dizzy and disoriented, everything seems to be swirling around with the same colours. This status effect will last for an IC hour.
41 - 60: Oh look, some interesting flowers! You lean in close to take a smell, it doesn't seem too bad. Suddenly, you notice that everyone is staring at you. What? As you look at your hands, you suddenly realize you are glowing bright pink This status effect will last for an IC hour. (see below for horsemen point prompt)
- Horsemen point prompt! You also see something glint next to you, but is it just a trick of the light? Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you obtain one horsemen point! You can only redeem a max of two from all prompt prps/orps your student is in per OOC 24 hours. You can redeem these here and here!
61-80: POW. A plant knocks you right out! When you wake up, you don't feel oddly different, except that you are now very tiny, at the most a few inches tall. Those plants sure look dangerously hungry around you... This status effect will last for an IC hour.
81-100: You turn around just in time to hear a Clans member tell you to watch out. CRASH. You break a bottle lying nearby, that doesn't seem too bad... until you feel a strange sensation. Why... you feel... so.. happy, as if everything would be perfectly okay with the world. Perfectly. Okay. This status effect will last for an IC hour.

After its dubious experimentation with poisons and antidotes, Malodore had decided to walk around the work areas, being careful to keep out of the way of the Horsemen who were busy at their tasks. It admired their single-minded industry, and yet it wondered if there were room for genuine experimentation and freedom. Were there young children of Famine who were like its own plagueling self, hungry for more than it was allowed?

It hoped not.

Accompanied by such maudlin thoughts, it found itself turning into a brighter room, filled with warmth, damper air, and plants. The air was rich with the scent of earth and greenery... strange types of greenery. Some of the plants seemed like Steve's elder cousins.

The plague doctor hovered in the doorway before catching sight of a somewhat familiar form. Ah, another Amityville student. What was this one called? It vaguely recalled being in classes, and seeing the boil in the undead dormitories from time to time... "Buon giorno," it said politely, bobbing its head. "Are you enjoying your time here, so far?"

The warmth was pleasant, it had to admit.

The Isle of Famine was, fortunately, an utterly fascinating place. Sparrow had not been very exposed to anything other than his own home and Amityville for so long that being elsewhere made him feel like a little child in a sweets shop - curious and interested in everything and everything.

Which was how he found himself somewhere in the crop rooms.

The horsemen on the island seemed immersed in their own things, dedicated to the tasks that they had been given, and Sparrow was fascinated with the way they worked. Everything seemed to work smoothly - but quietly and subtly, without the unnecessary fanfare sometimes accompanied by events such as the exchange program. The horsemen did their work and let the students do theirs.

It was all really very nice, Sparrow decided, as he peered into the crop rooms, his eyes sweeping across the various plants and boxes of seeds and leafy things that were spread everywhere in neat lines. Bright, warm sunlight flowed in through the semi-translucent rooftop, spilling over the plants. A few horsemen stood here and there, their eyes on their work - but there were also two other figures that were not horsemen. The dark haired boil from earlier and the doctor in red whose name Sparrow thought (if he remembered correctly) was Malodore.

"Ah," he said, stepping towards them with a smile, lifting his hand in greeting. "You're both from Amityville, aren't you? My name's Sparrow."

"Indeed so." Malodore nodded to the newcomer - a Reaper, it assumed - and opened its beak a bit in a small smile. "I was just admiring the odd botanical specime-"

It gestured towards a plant, or so it thought; instead, its claw smashed right into a low-hanging fruit that it swore hadn't been there a moment before. There was a sudden, angry rustle and then a sudden impact-

...

Malodore groaned as it awoke, the world swimming before its eyes. What had happened?

"Heya," Aymet responded before he looked over. They looked familiar... hadn't he seen them at the sandcastle trial? "I'm Aymet."

"Oh, hey, I know you! You're the -" Guy? Girl? "- one from that other team! I guess someone did something cool during the them or we wouldn't all be here. Our team And I didn't see anyone else after the sandcastles..." He lowered his voice to something of a whisper. "And during the last trial we ran into hunters."

Not that he was going to brag about helping to take one down during the break, but he really was curious what he'd been missing the entire time he hadn't known they existed. And of course, any other information he could pick up.

"Aymet," he greeted the reaper in turn, waving with a hand of long curved claws.

"Whoah, what happened to you?" Aymet peered over the tabletop at the miniature Malodore, resting his skull on it. "I didn't think we could use our natural abilities here, not that I tried or anything, just--"

His skeletal nose had poked a little too close to a nearby plant, which responded with what sounded like a sneeze. His fiery eyes strted to dim a little.

Well, he had been talking to the plague doctor, who had seemed a rather pleasant and interesting creature, but...

"Er," said Sparrow, staring at the spot where Malodore had been. He was still there, but a lot smaller than he had once been. In fact, he was only a few inches tall, barely high enough to reach the top of one of the potted plants on the table.

Sparrow peered down at him. "Are you all right?" he asked. He started to turn around, looking for someone to help, but -

"Watch out!"

That bottle was not there before, thought Sparrow, when he came to his senses a few seconds later. He had accidentally knocked into the little earthen ware bowl on one of the nearby tables and it had fallen to the ground and shattered. Sparrow, in turn, had promptly tripped over it and landed in an ungraceful heap on the ground.

Fortunately, he felt no injuries. In fact, he felt great.

"Isn't this island just marvelous?" said Sparrow jovially as he climbed back to his feet, grinning widely at Aymet and the little Malodore. "I'm just having the grandest time here, just the most wonderful experience - "

Malodore stared at the suddenly massive students and the huge plants and no, no, clearly they hadn't grown. All the evidence pointed to one fact: that it had, somehow, been shrunk down in size.

Oh, merde.

"I, ah, seem to have... be wary of that plant," it said, after a long moment. Hopefully this wouldn't last forever, but what a fascinating tool - at this size, just think of the fine stitchery it might accomplish, the precision surgery! What potential, such possibilities! Of course, the shift in scale would probably cause more problems than it might solve, given that its strength was likely in proportion to its current size, and pressing a miniature scalpel through flesh might pose an impossible task, but... oh, it was willing to try.

Too bad there weren't any handy inanimate corpses around.

"It is splendid, indeed," Malodore said in response to Sparrow's assertion; it turned and clambered up a plant, walking down the spine of a leaf with its arms and wings spread for balance. "Er, are you well," it added, looking up at Aymet and hoping the other undead wouldn't sneeze on it. That would be bad, given its current size and weight.

From Malodore's vantage point, as sometimes being very small helped, he might have noticed how uneven the floor was, even beyond its normal rugged appearance. In fact, the floor itself seemed to be made of a few different sections of slab: namely how there was a very particularly large slab right in the corner of the room that seemed be set deeper than the rest of the room, carved in a perfect square. The smallest of sigils was also set in the corner of the slab.

((Uh, Malodore is the teeny one, not Sparrow, so I'm going to assume I should respond to this...? XD; derp))

The miniature plague doctor carefully inched to the tip of the leaf, being very careful not to fall - a slip from this relative height could be disastrous. But the world looked so very different from this point of view. Sparrow and Aymet were towering giants, the planters were cliffs and the plants themselves, forests. The floor was a vast wasteland of stone, perfectly flat and-

-no, it wasn't perfectly flat, Malodore realized, after a moment. Part of the floor, in the very center of the chamber, was inset slightly. Perhaps it was a drain? But it looked like there was a marking there on one corner, so tiny that it might not be visible to larger eyes-

Malodore was a microscope. This was amazing.

"There's something very small there - ah... could one of you lift me down, per favore?" it shouted, doing its best to be heard. "Just to the corner of that stone, there! The one set a bit deeper into the floor!"

What was even more curious was the noise at the end other end of the "floor", a strange mechanical buzzing followed by yelling, easily leaked through the cracks against the slab.

"Batch 3 is -- experimentation-- release--" Echoes of a voice could be heard at the other end, mixed in with odd noises: a hiss, a hum, several large machines possibly working together? "-- base-- nearby-- world--"

Another voice. "-- Humans--" They laughed, a dry cackle.

"-- work--" The voices were moving further away from the unknown source below, it would require a bit more prying to investigate any further.

Aymet did things that involved putting Mal down on the floor, zoning for a bit, and prying as directed by Mal - anything the miniature plague doctor may or may not make a request for immediately after this would be taken care of... slowly.

It gave the dracolich a reason to stay away from the plants. He was quickly discovering he had little love for plants. And also that he was WAY tired.

Sparrow did not really understand what Malodore was talking about, but he watched cheerfully as Aymet lowered the plant down to the ground for the teeny plague doctor to peer at the floor.

Sparrow hunkered down on the floor, crouching beside him.

"Whatcha lookin at?" he asked brightly, a wide smile on his face.

"Ah, grazie," Malodore said, stepping gingerly onto Aymet's palm and holding on to the dracolich's thumb as it was lowered gently to the floor. Once there, it hopped off, landing on the floor with two tiny hoof-clicks. "Hmm..."

Sparrow's voice was like a thunderclap, his breath like a strong gale. The plague doctor hurriedly brought one hand up to keep its hat on its head. "There's something here," it said, tilting its head as it stepped down onto the recessed stone. It could hear voices... "Something about... experimentation... release... a base... humans?" Its eyes narrowed behind the lenses.

Carefully, it walked over to the tiny sigil in the slab's corner and pressed both palms to it.

The slab obediently slid to one side, revealing a hidden passageway underneath. It would be a long treck down in the dark, though the echos and shouts, sometimes simple instructions, otherwise in an unknown language, made it sound like the area underneath was rather large, hollow.

OOC
Anyone in this crop room, or who stumbles upon here through OOC invite can stumble upon this room, though it is best to be careful. If the students do decide to explore the hallway, simple quote WE ARE HALLOWEEN when ready to investigate further!

Sparrow put a hand over his mouth, giving Malodore a slightly sheepish, if not still overly cheerful expression.

"My apologies," he said, his voice muffled, and he smiled widely, forgetting that no one could see it behind his fingers. He was still peering curiously down at the tiny plague doctor - and as Malodore pressed both of his small hands down onto the ground, the stone slab shifted. Beneath it was what looked like a corridor of sorts, shaded in shadows and there were sounds echoing back and forth, up and down.

Sparrow glanced over at Malodore and Aymet, lifting his brows.

"What do you think?" he asked. "Should we go down? It looks pretty interesting..."
