Whisper lead the ghoul past many different stalls, hallways and open rooms before one finally caught her eye. It appeared to be a knife crafting class, with a very serious looking teacher. She didn't say much as they approached, and gave very simple instructions. Don't mess it up.
"What do think of this? Care to try? Never know when you might need a skill like this." Whisper knew she was definitely going to stay, as she definitely knew this would be an invaluable lesson. After all, she wasn't a reaper and she wasn't great at magic so knowing how to make a quick weapon could never hurt.

When they first arrived at the platforms, Mitzi stuck close behind the demon ghoul, but the many stalls seemed to give her plenty to look at and distract her, and the large platforms gave her plenty of not edge to be at. She stated actually enjoying herself, at least any time when they weren't having to walk between different platforms, and only then did she stay close to Whisper. It was just to make sure they didn't get separated, right?
When the other ghoul found a knife-making class, Mitzi wasn't all that interested - she had her spear, why would she ever need any other weapons? But she didn't want to wander around by herself, so she just shrugged and found herself a seat. "Sure, that's fine with me."
Apparently her lack of interest came out in the knife she made, which was a mediocre ugly thing made out of wood. She actually felt a bit embarrassed by it; even if it didn't matter much to her, she probably should still have tried a bit harder. She glanced over at Whisper, and decided to go test her knife while the other ghoul was still working. At least that way when it failed, she wouldn't be quite as embarrassed. (Total = 4)

The Reaper ghoul headed over to the test targets, picking one and making a swipe at it. Her knife barely even scratched the target, which noticeably dented her knife. The ghoul frowned, distinctly annoyed. Okay, sure, this wasn't something she was particularly interested in, and she was more than a little thrown off today, but those were just excuses.

A second attempt at one of the dummies just showed Mitzi exactly how useless her knife was. Not only did it not do any real damage, but it snapped in two.
Frustrated, she returned to Whisper to see how the demon was doing on her own knife.

While working on her own knife, Whisper also kept an eye on Mitzi. It seemed as though she was doing a little better then her friend, getting the stone to work nicely for her. It wasn't as hard as it originally seemed, or maybe she just got an easy batch. Either way, she was impressing herself. She studied what others had made, and tried her hardest to replicate it.
Holding up her rather stylish knife in front of her, she couldn't help but be proud. It felt decently balanced, the leather gave it really good grip, and the beads caught the light nicely. Plus the feathers to really represent the clan. Perhaps it was time to test it out?

Following Mitzi's example, she made her way to one of the dummies. She may have been a little too cocky about her skills and her knife. Her first swipe at the dummy didn't seem to do much to the target, but it sure did chip her knife. Well crap, that wasn't the result she wanted. But she was an amateur at best, and isn't the saying practice makes perfect? Well, she would just have to practice her butt off.
Whisper lightly stroked the spot that chipped and prepared for another strike.

Her second strike seemed to do a little more, but her knife once again chipped. Maybe the stone wasn't the sturdiest material like she had originally thought it was. Whisper readied herself, not one to give up because something was being difficult. She was going to push her creation to its limit.

Another quick swing through the air at the dummy, and it seemed as though the knife took the hit a little better. Maybe if she had a little more practice with these things, it would have turned out better. Though it wasn't like making weapons was something popular back home. In fact, she had never really heard of anyone being able to craft a weapon. No one seemed to care about weapons unless you were a reaper, and she had no idea where theirs came from. Probably just magic...

Whisper took one more swing, finally shattering her knife. It had lasted a good while, taking quite a bit of punishment. It was too bad that it couldn't have been made out of metal, perhaps then it really could have hurt something. She picked up the pieces that had fallen on the floor and placed them on a table. After all, they were pretty sharp, so stepping on one would have been really terrible. Whisper did not want to be blamed for a clan member hurting themselves because of her carelessness.
After her quick clean up, she decided it may be best to check out some of the other options that were open to them. "Shall we go explore some more?"
Knife shattered! 2 points earned!

Mitzi watched in amazement as Whisper not only made a very nice knife, but did significantly better than the Reaper ghoul had against the dummy. Not like that was difficult.
She waited until the other ghoul was done, watching what she did. "You did a great job, Whisper!" Mitzi congratulated her once she was done. "Sure, let's get going."

After waking up bright and early, Whisper returned to the knife creating class. She had felt that she did fairly well the first time, and wanted to get more practice with it. The fight with the mannequin showed her how many things could be turned into a weapon, and she definitely wanted to know how to make things deadlier. This whole experience was teaching her to not rely on the usual things to win.
Unfortunately the knife she made this time...kinda sucked to say the least. Apparently luck hadn't really been on her side this time. She had pulled a wood blade, and she knew that this was the beginning of the end of this knife. It didn't seem nearly as sturdy as her last one. She tried to sharpen it a little, but it just wasn't very deadly. The ghoul at least managed to get some sturdy leather around the hilt. There wasn;t much else remarkable about her creation.

After the two classes they'd already had, she was starting to understand why the War horsemen put such high regard in the ability to make and use even conventional, non-FEAR-based weapons. With her new intention to actually take this lesson seriously, she had resolved that she would try the weapon-making class again.
She was a little surprised to find that the other ghoul had chosen the same time to retake it. "Hey, Whisper!" she greeted the demon as she entered, before heading up to the front to choose some materials.
This time the horsewoman running the class offered her stone to work with, and Mitzi examined it before taking it with relish. This looked like something she could work into a sharp blade. She also spent her time looking over the various choices for decoration, taking a little of everything, but in particular she chose some leather that looked like it would help with the grip, as well as a handful of black, pink, and purple beads and a cord to thread them onto. Some black feathers finished off her decorations, and she headed back to sit next to Whisper.
The Reaper ghoul spent her time on her knife this time, first on shaping the base blade, then on decorating the handle, and finally on sharpening it until it could cut strands of her hair cleanly. Whenever she wasn't sure what to do next, she went up and asked the horsewoman in charge - she would rather ask questions and do it right, even if it made her look less experienced. By the time she was done, she was very proud of her blade, and more than ready to test it out. She even hoped it might last and she'd be allowed to take it with her.
Well, she could hope, right?

"Oh hey Mitzi! Looks like we switched from the other day." She gave a rather cheerful giggle. "Yours is looking pretty nice, I hope it does well!" She took her own knife in her hand and walked over to the practice dummies. She had to make this work, and at least try. Not every weapon would be perfect, and she had learned that it was ok to use what you have.
She jabbed at the dummy, barely leaving a scratch. But her knife seemed to handle it well, so that was good at least.

The Reaper gave her friend a sheepish smile; Whisper was handling the reverse a lot better than Mitzi had handled it the other day when her own knife had been the poorly-made one. "Thanks! Yours too, good luck!"
She headed over to the practice area and picked a target. As nice of a job as she had done on her knife, her first slash at the dummy was too hesitant and did almost no damage. Instead she hit the top of the post it was connected to, and the stone chipped. Mitzi grimaced, she hadn't meant to do that.

She gave a determined nod to Mitzi.
Whisper inhaled and took another jab. She kind of felt silly attacking a still opponent, even though this seemed to be pretty common. She just preferred something that was, well, moving. It felt like she was gaining more experience and knowledge that way. But these really weren't for sparing, they were just to see how well you could make your knife.
She hit hard, leaving an indent on the dummy, but almost equally damaging her knife.
