It was quite out. Why? Because he was away from the herd. As much as Quetzalcoatl loved his family, and the thought that he was safe within the herdlands, he got bored easily. There was rarely anything he could do. He couldn't go out and scout, because he couldn't move fast enough, and he couldn't be a warrior, because of his size. It was frustrating. The mini huffed some as he walked, his tail flicking a bit in irritation. He lowered his head, moving out from the boarders, before farther out into the wilderness. The herd would always be his home, but he needed to go out. He needed to find something else out there; something that would make his life worth living, instead of feeling out of place within a world of other Soquili.
So, with a small sigh, the stallion glanced over his shoulder once more. He stared toward where he knew the edge of the herdlands were. Quetzalcoatl's eyes flickered for a moment, before he shook his head, lowering his eyes to the ground. He stared at the grass for a few moments, before taking a deep breath the movement making his chest raise and then fall several times, before he took off. His hooves lifted off the ground easily, beating back down in a steady rhythm as he ran toward anywhere but home. He was careful not to let his mane or tail get in the way as he moved, his ears pinning some. He was going to find someplace that he could go; someplace for him to experience the world outside his herd. And when he did, Quetzalcoatl was going to experience it to the max.

Laeh had had quite a fulfilling day. She'd rescued a princess, found buried treasure and imprisoned an evil witch. Feeling rather pleased with herself, she trotted along the grassy path with her head high and her chest puffed out. It was like this every day. Today was the best day ever; tomorrow would come and arrive as today. Laeh was always content, always fulfilled. But something nagged at her. She assumed she wasn't having enough adventures and so spent weeks traveling on her own. But the nagging stayed in the back of her mind.
Kicking the ground, Laeh huffed. Today was becoming yesterday; not the greatest day ever anymore. At least, that was until she saw the stallion run past her. She caught a glimpse of a red dragon on his arm and wondered if perhaps he was being attacked. Her little legs took off in flight as she chased him, crying out to prepare herself for the 'battle' that was to come. "Stop running so I can help you!" She called out to the stallion.
As much as she wanted to be a hero; she was more excited about seeing a dragon. She had never seen a real one before; only in her imagination when she had adventures or when she read stories. To see a real one would complete her life, perhaps make the nagging go away.

Quetzalcoatl's heart raced. He had never done this before; never ran like this. And it felt marvelous. He closed his eyes for a moment, his form moving easily. When he opened them, he saw the flash of something peach and pink, but ignored it... until he heard her voice. Frowning, the stallion slowed his running to a slight jog, and then a gentle trot. He stopped after a moment, and looked over his shoulder toward the now running mare. What was she doing? Why was she chasing him? Frowning, the little stallion went on high alert, his body going somewhat stiff. If she was going to attack him, he was going to be ready for her. His tail gave a slight flick, muscles rippling some under his skin, giving slight twitches, before he turned his small body to face the oncoming mare, head held high.
"Help me?" Quetzalcoatl questioned. Did he need help? The thought process was a good one. He was running... though not from a huge danger. No, he was running from his past, and trying to run toward his future. He needed to go out, and wander around. Needed to adventure and find his purpose in life. He imagined it was like how his father had left the herd, but he wasn't sure. Shaking his head, which in turn caused his long, black mane to fall along his face, he focused his golden eyes on the mare, only just now noticing the feathery extensions coming form her. He had never seen something such as that.
What was this? Wings? From her head and flanks? Shaking his head again, Quetzalcoatl stared. Wings... His head tilted to the side. He had seen wings on the back of larger Soquili, but never anything such as this. Interest flickered in his eyes, as well as curiosity, but for now, he needed to wait for the mare to catch up, and answer his question. Once more, he wandered about the help she offered. Did she happen to just know that he was running from his family and home? Or was she just wanting to help since he was running? The stallion did guess that he was, after all, looking like he was in trouble since he was running so quickly..

Laeh came screeching to a halt as the stallion stopped. She was silent for a moment as she caught her breath; he was really fast and it'd taken a lot for her to catch up to him. Breathing heavy, she began to sniff around for the dragon, not realising the tattoo on the stallion's arm was the dragon. Peering up at the sky, she squinted and frowned. "I see he's run off. Just as well, it wouldn't have ended well for him if he stayed," her voice was strong and gruff; something she was putting on to hide her disappointment that she couldn't meet the dragon.
Turning to the stallion, she tilted her head to the side and looked him over. He didn't seem to be injured and her eyes sparkled. It wasn't every day you encountered a dragon and came out unscathed. Just who was this stallion? "Yeah, help. But it seems like a dragon was no problem for you," she smiled and her voice was its normal soft and delicate tone. "You must be a great adventurer. Or a strong knight. Or a powerful wizard," she let out a dreamy sigh and pranced around. "I'm the greatest adventurer, though. Name's Laeh."

Quetzalcoatl blinked in confusion, his eyes flickering along the mare's form. He was still confused by the wings that protruded from odd parts of her body. What was going on? Was that... normal? Shaking his head somewhat, letting his mind clear. He watched her for a few seconds, before seeing her look up. His own eyes lifted, staring around curiously to see if he could see what she did. But since he didn't know what it was she thought she saw, Quetzalcoatl was confused, his head tilting to the side, long hair shifting over his face to partially hide his features. His golden eyes flickered, before looking toward the female once more, eyes locked on her. He was very confused. What ran off? Was he being chased? The stallion frowned. If he was being chased, it probably wasn't the best thing.
"Him?" Quetzalcoatl murmured, brow pulling together in confusion. He flicked his tail slightly, taking a slight step back when she started to look him up and down. Was there something wrong with him? Tilting his head, he looked down at his own body. At the red markings on black skin. He tilted his head back, looking at his back, before looking back toward her. She was a lovely little mare, and he was shocked when she had ran after him. His ears snapped up. Dragons? Did she mean Kalona? If Kalona were around, that was not a good thing. The frown deepened on his face, eyes flickering around, searching, before he heard her next words. Adventurer? Knight? Wizard? Was he any of those? Shaking his head, the stallion huffed. "I don't doubt that you're the greatest, Miss Laeh. But we need to get out of here... if a... dragon is around. Follow me."
Turning, Quetzalcoatl trotted toward a small patch of trees and bush. There was a small entrance, small enough for an Usdia to fit with ease, but anything bigger would have a hard time even getting their head and neck in without getting stuck. He looked over his shoulder, nodding for her to follow him, before pushing forward, ignoring the smalls scratching feeling of the branches and leaves at his body, before he was in a small little protected clearing. The trees and bushes blocked anything too big from coming in. It was big enough for himself, and one more, so long as they didn't mind being in close quarters. Shaking out his mane again, he backed up to the back, and waited for her to follow, hoping she would and wouldn't get startled by his sudden want for her to follow and get out of the open.

Laeh looked up in the sky, squinting as the sun's light began its attack on her eyes. She couldn't see the dragon, nor its shadow on the ground they stood on. Perhaps it really was gone. Or perhaps it was only hiding.. waiting for the right moment to snatch them up in its mouth. She shivered with the excitement of it all and looked back over at the stallion. Her wings wiggled, something they always did when she was happy or excited or.. anything, really. She gave a grin. "If you're scared, I guess we should hide."
Laeh followed the stallion, keeping up with him easily enough. She wiggled through the bush with haste, crashing out the other side in a flurry of leaves and dust. "Oof!" Standing and shaking it all off her, Laeh looked around and shifted her weight in the spot. It was small and she was a little nervous being so close to a stallion.
"So.. Did you summon the dragon?" She nodded at the tattoo on his leg, sure as anything that he had a secret magic he wasn't sharing with her. She pouted a little. Some soquili could be so selfish.

Quetzalcoatl shifted, his body tense. He looked around slowly. They were well shrouded here, hidden. The bushes and trees were amazing. Nothing big could get into this little area. Shifting a bit more, he peered toward Laeh. Staring for a moment, he let a half smile shift onto his features, trying to ease her, before shaking his head, his long mane shifting over his eyes. Kneeling down on his front legs, he did a sort of bow. His hair shifted over his features, blocking out his eyes that resembled his mothers. He breathed out a small sigh, before lifting himself back up, his eyes locked on the lovely little mare in front of him. He had never seen anyone this lovely, aside from his mother and sister. But that was a biased opinion, or at least most said that it was so. "My name is Quetzalcoatl. My apologies for not introducing myself before. That was rude of me. But given the circumstances, I do believe I needed to prolong it."
Mother always said manors were important; especially around females. Locking eyes with Laeh, Quetzalcoatl stared curiously. He wasn't scared, honestly. But then he was. He was scared for the little female. He had always heard of Kalona and Skinwalkers wandering the lands, and killing people. And he had heard rumor of his breed being the perfect catch. Shaking his mane out again, the stallion shifted back farther, aiming to give her more room. He tilted his head a bit. He lurched forward slightly, when she seemed to have some difficulty getting into the small area. He reached slightly with his head and neck, pressing it lightly against her shoulder to aid her into being helped up slightly and into the inclosure. Moving away from her after she had seemed to get her footing, Quetzalcoatl stared toward her. He couldn't see her as well in the dimmed light, but he was certain she would have a harder time. With his dark coat, he probably easily blended in with the shadows that seemed to linger in the small enclosure.
The dragon? Why did she keep calling it a dragon? Shaking his head slowly, Quetzalcoatl stared toward Laeh. His ear flicked lightly. "Dragon? No... I didn't. I haven't even seen a dragon before. As for the marking along my leg, I inherited it from my mother... She bares one of a bird, a creature of myth and legend that I am named for. Mine seems to resemble a dragon, I suppose. Like the one of which you have seen... What did you see, Lady Laeh?" He asked. Quetzalcoatl wasn't sure what it was that she had seen. Or anything. He just knew that so long as he was in her presence, he had to act as his mother had taught him to; respect mares. Treat them with the highest regard. At least until she told him otherwise.
