Life Hunter BATTLE ARENA General Information The portal opens up into an observation room, and down the stairs, an odd chamber for something like hunter training. At the center of a piranha-filled pool stands a solid stone table and several chairs. The Life Arena was built underneath the demolitions and ballistics testing areas, and the chamber rumbles with the occasional explosions above. Pinpoint red lasers sweep across the room regularly, as if hidden snipers are searching for a nice target. In the center of the table sits a wooden tower, made up of smaller wooden blocks. Yes. That's right. The Life Hunters prefer to train via Jenga.
Note: Distraction techniques and Yo Momma jokes are considered viable weapons when playing competitively.
If you fail: you have knocked down the tower! A small dart hits the back of your neck. You come to several hours later, and hope Dr. H didn't do anything to your body while you were unconscious. When you look into the mirror...
If you win: you have reached 50 points! You get a sharpie marker to do with as you please. peen points go to those with the highest scores.
Mechanics - by carefully removing pieces of the tower, you earn points and advance to the next round. As the rounds continue, the odds grow steadily against you. Rolling a 1 at any point means you have knocked down the tower. Please do enjoy your mystery dart. Anything after reaching 50 points is purely for peen.
- you may roll pieces individually (suggested for group play) or in batches of 5 (basically, a full round.)
Round 1

Sydney had thought about it for a while after hearing of Sasha's... mission problem. She wanted to see how the other girl was doing, but she wasn't sure how much Sasha would want to talk about it. So... what else could she do? Syd was not good at comforting people. She wasn't good with people... at all, really. But she knew someone that was. And she knew a setting that was good for conversing, too--well, other than the threat of being shot with a dart, that was. But honestly, she'd been through the shadow run, a dart didn't seem that horrible. So she sent out two texts to two of her few friends, and crossed her fingers that Wilson would do what he did so well to help Sasha out.

He had heard about the mission Clerise had led, but only the bare details. Wilson knew they had encountered a horseman that had led to near-death, which sounded painful. Very painful. Fortunate that it hadn’t been to him. Unfortunate that it had happened to his fellow trainees. By now he knew most of the other trainees’ names, but he still had yet to talk with some of them. The thought made him frown. He would have to fix that somehow.
The familiar ringing of his phone startled him and he picked it up. Oh~ Sydney wanted to play another round of Jenga with him. He certainly didn’t mind that. It had been a while since he had attempted the life course. He should probably try it again.
When he arrived to the arena, he brightly smiled and waved to Sydney. “Hey! How’ve you been?”

Sasha still hadn't left her room when the text from Sydney came.
After reading the text she still hadn't wanted to leave the sanctity of her room, but she had to start somewhere. Maybe after she did a little training she'd feel more like visiting Clerise and Rep in the infirmary. Maybe. Or maybe she'd just feel like going back to her room where she could curl up on her bed, holding her flute.
When Sasha arrived at the arena, she gave Sydney a small smile before turning her gaze towards Wilson. She recognized him, knew of him, but this was her first time really interacting with him.
"Hey, um. Thanks for inviting me." Her hand fluttered nervously around the dark mark on her neck, but she offered them both a smile in turn before she took a seat at the table.

Sydney hesitated. "I'm not sure... do you two know each other?" she asked. "Sasha, this is Wilson--he's a death trainee. He and I tried this once before. Wilson, this is Sasha, she's a life trainee. And since you're two of the nicest people on the island, I didn't think you'd mind, um, training with me?" she said, a tiny hint of red creeping over her cheeks. She looked at Sasha hesitantly, a worried expression on her face as she saw the burns. "If you're up for it, that is?" she added, reaching for the jenga tower. Wilson turned around at the third voice. The movement toward her neck caught his eye and he honed in on the mark for a second before politely redirecting it somewhere else. He gave Sydney a curious look. He hadn’t realized the mist trainee had invited Sasha as well, but he didn’t mind. The more, the merrier, right?
“Nicest people on the island?” He laughed. “I’m sure Sasha is very nice, but I can’t say I’d be one of the nicest.” The death trainee headed for one of the empty chairs. “But I wouldn’t mind at all. Don’t hesitate to ask. Of course I’ll say yes.” A smile to both Sydney and Sasha. “To both of you.”
He placed one arm on the table while the other reached for a piece. Occasionally, his gaze would drift toward Sasha and her injuries. Instead of looking worried, he kept smiling reassuringly.Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

"It's nice to meet you, Wilson," Sasha offered a smile to the Death trainee before reaching out to give Sydney a reassuring pat on her forearm. "And.. of course I'm up for it.. I ah.. this is the. Um. First.. first time I've left my room." She didn't feel the need to elaborate. Tugging her scarf higher up on her neck, Sasha cleared her throat and reached forward, deftly removing pieces from the tower. "I'm always here for you, Syd," she spoke in a soft voice. "And .. anyone else who needs me.. I'm fine," she added, a wry smile on her lips. "I'll be fine." Just in case they were wondering. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

And they chatted for a bit until Sydney's fingers slipped, the tower fell, and the poor mist hunter was hit by a dart, knocking her out. She fell out of her seat to the ground, unconscious. ((Sorry guys.)) Status Round: 2Pieces Taken: 5 + Total Points: 5 +

The first time she had been out of her room? The piece of news did not settle well with Wilson, even if Sasha was only an acquaintance still. It wasn’t wrong to worry about his fellow trainees, right? He pressed his lips together to prevent himself from speaking. His smile didn’t quite reach his eyes when he glanced toward Sasha. The double reassurances didn’t convince him very well. “That’s good to hear.”
Eyes widened and the trainee leaned back when the tower clattered into a disheveled pile of wooden blocks. Shortly after, there was a thud, signaling that Sydney had indeed been knocked out by a dart. “Uhh.” Wilson slid out of his chair to bend over the fallen trainee. He looked at Sasha. “We should probably wake her up, right?” He reached out to gently shake her shoulder.

Sasha clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth. She knew all too well how it felt to be knocked out, and suspiciously she peered around the perimeter of the room.
"Yes. Just gently shake her. She should wake up soon - but if she keeps getting darted, it'll get harder and harder to wake her up."
With a sigh, Sasha knelt next to the other woman, gently brushing her hair back from her forehead. "Syd," Sasha sing-songed, tugging softly on a lock of Sydney's dark hair.

Syd's eyes opened and she looked a bit woozy, but she smiled at Sasha. It was a sweet, silly smile, one that said she was ABSOLUTELY not there. "Izy? I thought you were pretty but... you look a lot like Sasha," she said with a hint of confusion. "And why does it smell fishy here?" she asked blankly, looking around. Then it clicked. "Oh, I'm sorry. Can we start again?" she asked, getting up and heading for the table. Then she took a deep breath and started up again. Status Round: 2Pieces Taken: 10 Total Points: 20 Knocked out: 1/3

He lifted both brows at Sasha’s information. “Oh. I never knew that.” Wilson had only tried this course once, after all, and had left as soon as he had woken up afterwards. He curiously watched Sasha as she joined him in waking Sydney up. Yes, Sydney seemed right. Sasha seemed quite nice.
Wilson broke out into a grin. “That’s because she is Sasha, though I’m curious to see what your weapon looked like before he became, well, a weapon.” Once Sydney stood up he followed suit, sliding back into his chair as the mist trainee took her first piece.
“Looks like it’s my turn.” [Hope you don’t get darted.] Are you trying to jinx me? At least the tower hadn’t fallen this time.Status Round: 2 Pieces Taken: 10 Total Points: 20

Sasha chuckled softly as she helped Syd back into her seat. Once finished, the dark-haired trainee moved back into her own seat where she patiently waited for Wilson to take his turn. She grinned as he successfully removed his pieces. "I failed this many times before. I'm actually feeling ah.. a little hopeful that this round might go better." Wilson nodded his head at Sasha sympathetically. “That’s like how I’ve failed the Shadow Run multiple times.” [I can’t keep track of how many failures you’ve had with it.] You can’t keep track of anything, Gramps. “I’m glad you’re feeling hopeful this time though! Maybe today is your lucky day.”
