Mini RP - Kanto Badge Run (Reno)

[Reno Vantas]

Stumbling into Pewter City was a disheveled and ragged teen, wearing a suit with the top button of the dress shirt unbuttoned and red hair. Shaking his head and straightening his hair out, Reno began his trek to his goal: The Pewter City Gym. Looking at the town he was walking through, all he saw grey rock and houses nestled between the mountains. Spotting the Gym ahead, Reno sprinted into the door. "So, this the Pewter Gym? My name is Reno and I am 'ere ta kick butt and take names!!" Reno shouted, his excitement manifesting itself in confidence.

As soon as Reno entered he would be greeted by an upbeat man sporting sunglasses in the dimly lit gym. The man would speak to Reno right away. "Hiya! I can tell you have what it takes to become a Pokémon champ! I'm no trainer, but I can tell you how to win! Let me take you to the top! The gym's leader is a Rock enthusiast named Brock. People around here call him the Rock-Solid Pokemon Trainer, saying he has the toughest will around, his rock hard determination won't crack easily. Well, good luck!"

"Thanks, stranger. 'Ope I win." Looking across the wide open area the Gym had for its interior, Reno spotted Brock standing at the opposite end. Unsure if there were any other trainers in the Gym, Reno began to walk forward, heading straight for Brock.

"Hey! You can't just march in here and face the gym leader! You are light years away from facing Brock!" A young lad shouted at Reno as he got in his way. "If you want to face Brock you have to try and beat me first!" He said, clutching a pokeball in his hand.

Reno looked at the young man who had jumped Putin front of him. Offering him no words, Reno popped a Pokeball out of his pocket and threw it out. Snips the Snivy appeared, staring down the kid who had dated interrupt his master's grand entrance. Raising his left hand up, he bent his index and middle finger in the classic 'bring it on' pose.

"Alright then, let's do this! Geodude!" The camper named Kenny shouted as he tossed the Pokeball in his hand outwards, popping open as it hit the ground and releasing from within the Rock type Pokemon, Geodude. "Rock Throw!" The camper commanded. His Geodude would then begin to dig its hands into the rocky gym floor, pull up chunks of rock, and hurl them at the opposing Pokemon, one after another.

Staring down the camper across from him, Reno looked over at Snips, who was under fire form the rocks. "Leaf Blade, Snips. Slash through the rocks and attack." Snips drew a leaf out and with a flick of the wrist, turned it into a full-fledged blade. However the first boulder got through and bashed against Snips. Letting out a small growl, Snips charged forward, slashing through the boulders and blocking them. Reaching the Geodude, Snips slashed at it with his blade.

And thus the Geodude was hit, and hard. Its dual typing both being weak to Grass didn't help the rock Pokemon at all, but its solid defense, did, as it hung in there. "Now Rollout!" The camper commanded, he knew his Geodude needed to get some distance, but with being so close to one another he couldn't pass up the chance to deal some damage, and get away at the same time. The Geodude quickly tucked its arms in and began to speedily roll towards the Snivy right in front of it. Should it run it over or not it would still keep on rolling, aiming to gain some distance.

"Snips, take the 'it and grind it with yer Leaf Blade." Reno ordered, seeing the Geodude was committed to its Rollout. Taking the initial hit, snips grunted in slight pain before he brought the blade down length-wise on the rolling Pokemon. Hopefully, the blade constantly grinding against it would be worth the small amount of pain Snips was in.

And down went the Geodude, two Grass moves was just too much for it. The Pokemon rolled around for a bit before slowing down to a sluggish tumble until it stopped on its back, knocked out. "Ack! No! Geodude, return!" Kenny cried out as he recalled his Pokemon. "Y-you're still not strong enough to face Brock! Sandslash! Let's show this slacker how to really battle!" The camper tossed out his second Pokeball, releasing from within the sand mouse named Sandslash.

"Poison Sting Sandslash!" He commanded. As the Pokemon jumped out from its ball it spun around in mid air, releasing from its quills a spray of poisonous needles that went in all different directions, but in the general area of the opponent.

Seeing the spray of Poison Sting, Reno swore under his breath before shouting an order to Snips. "Coil, Snips." Reno shouted, seeing this idea would help somewhat. Snips coiled his body tightly, avoiding more of the stingers and the few that hit were met by a stronger defense. Uncoiling, Snips stared down the Sandslash. Smirking, Reno ordered, "Giga Drain." Snips shot out a pair of vines inbound for Sandslash. Hopefully, Snips would absorb some health from the Sandslash.

Watching the poison shoot along the internal tubes in the vine that would send the energy to Snips, Reno winced. No way to avoid that kind of an attack. Snips took the burst of poison in strides, a pained expression quickly replaced by one of relief as the absorbed energy reached Snips. Not fully healed and poisoned, but he had healed some. Debating moves internally, Reno realized he needed something ranged on this sort of a poison assault.

"Snips, Razor Leaf." Reno ordered, a calm expression on his face. Snips listened to this idea and decided it was worthwhile, firing off a flurry of razor-sharp boomerang shaped leaves. Snatching one out of midair, Snips held it in front of him, ready to use Leaf Blade to try to block this Pokemon's next attack.
