It was spring. The kind of spring that made everything so wonderful--it made her feel alive. The days were getting longer, and the air was warmer during the day. But the nights were getting chiller.
She'd been toughing out the most of it by herself, without anyone to warm it for her. She kept saying she didn't need anything--or anyone. But the more the wind made her chilled, and the more spring awakened her feelings...it was useless to deny anymore.
She'd have to find someone to warm her nest. That was it, just her nest--and by extension her. Nothing else! She didn't need any of that other stuff. She was too young to want to be a mother or anything else yet. She had years to serve the flock before then. That kind of stuff could well...wait.
She'd have plenty of years in the future to show her loyalty to the Flock and produce heirs

She'd made the decision, accepted a kind male whom she knew. He was nice, and sweet. She had grown up with his father--which was a little weird. But well, he was kind and sweet and nothing was going to go on--so things would be okay then.
He was just to warm her nest. That's what Galla Sile kept telling herself.
