He could drop...
His paws throbbed and his back ached terribly. It had been two days of nothing but walking, jumping at shadows and hopes being built up only to be knocked over. The war was over and his companions were safe back in the Chokwe so that was one less thing to worry about.
She had to be alive... somewhere out in the wild, she had to be... he'd not found her among his fallen brothers and sisters, he'd not even found a spot of her blood or a single fur.
The leopard sighed and looked down to the ring embracing his paw. Golden and beautiful... he was going to propose on a moonlight night...the solstice night... he'd been a fool for leaving...

On the other side of the spectrum was a certain blue lion. Around his neck and around his paws he wore a ridiculous amount of stuff. It ranged from chains and strings to tacky nick nacks of all kind. One might think this was a trader of some kind. They would be right in a sense. Conman was more like it though.
He'd heard of a treasure some where in the mists and the lion was dead set on getting his grubby big paws on it. If he could find it. He would find it. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully. He'd also heard about ghosts and dangers. But that was half the fun of treasure. The stupid fake stories used to scare those away proven false. And Yuān Guǐ was planning on proving this story wrong.

The land of mists was a strange one but he had to check it regardless. If she was in danger, she might have come here to rest or hide. Kirkis was too tired to continue his searching for the day. The leopard stared, sadly, up at a large, thick tree trunk. He could climb it, he had to eventually, but now... it was almost horrible to think about.
Something rattled in the mists. The leopard straightened up and threw a sharp look behind him. "H-hello?"

The lion stopped in his tracks. Some one was here with him in the mists as indicated by the greeting. The conman rolled his eyes and debated for a moment to carry on any ways. But then the thought that maybe this stranger could help him crossed his mind. An amused smile curled on his maw.
"Hello ~" He greeted.

A short greeting. In his experience that was rarely a good thing. Perhaps he shouldn't have come here...the ancient stones, damp with mist, and the swirling white fog that seemed never to lift muddled both scent and sight. The stranger could have been friendly, certainly, but no leopard lived long that didn't make certain to tread on the side of caution.
Gathering up what little strength he had left, Kirkis dug his claws into the soft bark of the tree and pulled himself up to the first branch. If the stranger was hostile, he stood a fighting chance from above.
"I didn't mean to trespass." The leopard called back, his eyes squinting into the mists. "I'm looking for someone... you wouldn't have encountered another in this area would you?"

The lion hadn't encountered any one and almost opened his maw to let this lion know he hadn't but ideas started to creep. This information was obviously .. or possibly valuable. It was a worth a shot at the very least. Yuan fought a smile from his maw to keep his face poker like.
"I think I might have. Why do you want to know?" The lion took a few clinking steps forward.

Kirkis leaned back a little, his eyes narrowing as the ringing sound grew louder and louder. A shape was beginning to form out of the mists, large and confident. What low light there was gleamed off of the male's trinkets. So he wasn't one for stealth... lucky him.
"I am looking for my beloved. My betrothed. She was separated from me and I thought that perhaps she would have passed this way. She is of my blood, not one of your kind, friend. I only ask after her. If she's moved on then so shall I."

Oh so he was looking for his so called mate. The dame sounded a little unfaithful if he was not able to locate her. Yuan chewed over this newly gotten information before spitting back out his own thoughts.
"Well there sir . I might have seen this broad of yours. But whats this information worth to you? Do you maybe have any information about whats hiding in the mists for me?" The blue lion leaned in just a tad, "Hrmmmmmm?" He inquired once more. Well , it wasn't the smartest approach maybe but it was an approach.
"Maybe ... You'd give me that earring for the information." There was a sleazy grin.

Kirkis rose a paw to the earring hanging from his large ear and looked uncertainly to the stranger down below. He -might- have information? He didn't like -mights-. This lion didn't even know who he was looking for, what she looked like, or even her features. That hardly seemed fair.
"I know something of this area, yes... we had a wisemale pass through the lands of my companions not long ago... he told many tales of this place." He narrowed his eyes. "Tell me what she looked like...and I will give you my earring if the description is correct. Then in payment you'll have your information and my earring. It's only fair."

The lion let out a mighty chuckle. So this leopard wasn't as stupid as Yuan had hoped. Still, the confident con man took a step forward.
"Alright~" His ego was getting the best of him now. Most leopards looked the same to him after all. "I'll play your game. Better be getting ready to part with that earring boy," He took another step forward, "Her eyes shown like the most beautiful of cloudless nights and twinkled with the might of all the stars in the heavens. Her fur was well kept and her spots were to dazzle ~ " It was a long shot but at this point, Yuan was just having fun.
"You seek that fair maiden... yes?"

"And I gather she had four legs and a tail." Kirkis countered with a dry smirk. "Nice try. Unfortunately for you, I'm a little older and a lot wiser than I appear to be."
He leaned onto one side and narrowed his eyes. "If you can tell me the color of her fur then we'll have a deal. I don't go chaining after shadows, I can't afford to. I do give you credit for a clever attempt though."

The lion's ears fell back for a moment. A color? Oh this leopard was good. He was very good. The lions tail twitched a bit as he eyed the leopard and even squinted his eyes as if he was in a cow boy stand off before letting his answer fly like a bullet from a gun.

Purple!? He must have seen her! Like his distinctive salmon pink hair fading from crown to the spine of his back, she had a distinctive stripe down her fair head in a soft lavender purple color. Certainly he was telling the truth!
Kirkis reached up and tugged his earring loose, leaving him with one solitary one on his left ear. With a sigh he tossed it downwards. "Please...which way? And how long ago?"

The lion was quick to pick up the earing and add it to his many around his neck. He was pleased to be the victor in this duel.
"Oh right ~ She disappeared in to the mists that way ~" The lion pointed a random direction. It was likely he'd never have to face this leopard again so what was the harm?

Kirkis turned his head in the direction indicated, his ears rolling upwards. At long last! A lead! All the years of searching, all the long nights of heartache and regret- soon they would all find their purpose. He'd find her, he'd take her paw and swear himself to her.
"Thank you! Thank you, friend!" He dipped his head, turned, slank down from the tree, and vanished into the mists. All the sudden his fategue was the last thing on his mind. He was going to find her!
