AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM

Name: Ouranos
Nicknames: He doesn't mind people getting creative. (Commonly: Oura, Ors, O)
Gender: Male
Age: 17

Faction: Demon
Race: Sandman (Nightmare)

Natural Ability:
Slumber - By touching a target with his bare skin, Ouranos can induce sleep, and often dreams. Oura specializes in nightmares, though his current skills are very basic. Later in his education, he should be able to craft complicated nightmares, as well as enter and manipulate them.

(Note: Like traditional sandmen, Oura does carry a small amount of potent, magicked sand. It's useful for large areas or distanced targets, but due to its scarcity, can only be used in dire situations/battle.)

Personality:
Faint, distant and otherworldly, Ouranos' traits reflect his affinity to dreams and the sleeping world.

Cryptic: Like dreams, Oura's overall character is hard to grasp-- hazy, remote, puzzling. His speech can be vague and abstract; one minute he's talking to you normally, the next speaking in riddles, eventually spiraling into some obscure symbolic prophecy. It isn't a willing or conscious choice, but the only way he can express himself-- in the waking world, at least.

Unsettling: It's just a kind way to say "creepy." There's something a little uncanny, a bit off about Ouranos, like the nagging feeling you get in dreams that something isn't quite right.
One contributor to Oura's creepiness is his stare... and boy, is he good at it. Ouranos is that quiet kid in the corner, hands folded, staring ahead unblinkingly. Or that creeper by your bedside, staring at you while you sleep. There's a reason behind all this, but most are too initially put off (and rightfully so) to learn why.

Calm/Detached: Ouranos is the picture of serenity. He goes about things slowly and freely, drifting along in a dreamlike haze. It seems near impossible to anger him, or to elicit any sort of strong emotion; this detachment can be frustrating at crucial moments. If asked his opinion, to react or respond with conviction, he will struggle to do so. He has always been the figure standing at the boundary, the silent watcher, and has difficulties adjusting when others actively include him in their plans.

Absent-minded: Oura is terribly forgetful. He's the kind of person that sees the big picture, the grand scale of things, the workings of the cosmos. Minute details and everyday things frequently escape him-- this includes names. Oura is a notorious repeat offender when it comes to forgetting names and faces (he feels bad about it, he really does).

Easy to Talk To: Despite his faraway nature (or perhaps because of it), people will often talk to Ouranos spontaneously. He's pretty good at lending an ear when needed; a listener rather than a talker, he will quietly absorb your problems, rants, musings of the universe. Those who speak to him may find it suddenly easier and easier to open up; his calm stare can be curiously encouraging. Though he may not seem to be entirely there, or show any outward sign of comprehension, Oura will always try to help you... in his own strange way.

Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy?
A sandman's powers are only effective around others. At Oura's age, the best place to test his skills would be school! He hopes to practice his sleep-making on (hopefully willing) classmates, and most importantly, to develop his dream techniques. The most accomplished sandmen are able to enter their subjects' dreams, morphing and molding the environment in real-time; this is a level Oura hopes to be at someday. More complex and frightening nightmares means more FEAR!

FEAR Ability:
• Y1: Good Night - Oura disperses his sand. If one contacts it, they begin to feel increasingly tired; their movements slow, motor functions locking down as they move. Heart rate and brain slows; they become sluggish and disoriented. After a while they fall asleep, but one can overcome the early symptoms if they have the will to fight it.
• Y2: Sweet Dreams
• Y3: Lights Out

Physical Description:
Eye Colour: Pale blue-gray, no pupils
Hair Colour/Style: Light gray with darker ends; bedhead
Skin Colour: Very pale
Clothing Style/Colours: Dark, flowing garb, often patterned like the night sky. Full and loose clothing. Large, enveloping cloaks with high collars or oversized hood.
Extra: Gloves; color is your choice. A small velvet pouch with decorative tassels, for his magicked sand. It can be held or attached to his hip.
References: Unfiltered version! If you can, please feel free to make his outfit more interesting/add details, since I really suck at designing clothes D=;;;

I love the idea of a sandman that gives nightmares but a few small problems with a few small things:

-Natural ability: I worry on the touching bare skin aspect if it's something he can't control. If he can control when it happen it's fine. If not then it can be a limiter, fair warning

-Unsettling: I have trouble with this for the simple reason that it's a trait that basically dependent on how other characters see him. Which for obvious reasons, can make the trait invalid. His stare can make people unsettled...a lot of halloweeners have a creepy stare. Most have a habit of creeping, it's a pretty common halloween thing. The idea of wanting him to stare and loom, it's not a bad one, but how it's written now is predetermining how other characters will view your's. You hint there is a reason he does this- why does he do this? Otherwise, his personality seems fine to me.

-Demons wouldn't get an 'item' like the bag of sand. Even if he only uses it in dire situations or battle, it's become a reaper type weapon. That said, he seems to me he'd be more a reaper than a demon.
