As Arel walked back into his office, Lizzy was actually stalking him like she was the HSDJAGKGD batman. It was unclear if the Secretary knew about his pink stalker or not, but she hadn't been able to sleep well for the past few nights, and thus, she was really just... Too tired to care. After all, as long as she could get the chance to talk to him alone, she would be happy. Maybe it would even help her get a good night's sleep for once.

"Uh, mister Arel-" She paused to look around, just to make sure that there wasn't anyone else around, before offering him a strained smile, "May I speak to you? In private...?"

There was absolutely not doubt what this conversation, if it could even be called one entailed, which was why the secretary was doing his Jackdamned best to ignore the pink trailing behind him. In fact, he was almost pretty sure he had lost her on the second climb up the third set of stairs to the office, and had just made a reach for the door when, with a sort of terrified trepidation, he heard the inquiry.

Talking with a student, bad enough news already. Now, in private about-

- He nervously fumbled the office door open. "Ah, well, you are just a an, ordinary, normal student, I am sure there is nothing you can't resolve with um," he randomly pulled out a sheet of paper wedged under his desk," A form, yes that's right. Nothing to hide here right, so um, just fill out any request and leave it on my table and I'll get to it eventually alright?"

The desk was piled with papers: it would be a miracle just to stack another one on it without falling.

"An ordinary, normal student with an extraordinary, and possible abnormal, problem," She corrected him with a soft, tired sigh. At the mention of filling in a form, she looked up with an expression that could best be described as 'wtf' mixed with a bit of surprise, and with disbelief on the side. Without another word, Lizzy did the only thing that came to her tired mind at the point in time - she threw herself at the secretary like she was some kind of a desperate person.

Which she was, actually.

Grabbing his scarf and looking up at him with pleading eyes, she inhaled deeply and tugged at the scarf, "Please, we need help. Or guidence. Or just some advice. Please. Just a little bit of your time. Please please please."

He was doing okay until the student grabbed his Jack-damned scarf, the secretary seizing up like well, like what ice demons created in their spare time really. Arel looked left, then right, then very, very slowly and carefully pried his scarf out of the student's hands: who knows where those grubby hands had been.

A sigh as he maneuvered around his desk and sat down. Another sigh, the secretary was not even visible through the mounds of paperwork, though the morose voice did continue talking from the other end. "That's... nice really. Everyone has problems, you know I have problems, for example, um, you know, my ghost dog. Everyone wants a ghost dog but did they actually consider how much maintenance it takes to take care of a ghost dog, it's clean this, wash that, really important stuff you know."

Was Arel babbling nonsensically? Yes, yes he was. Was he awful at creating distractions? That was very possible as well.

Those hands had been everywhere, and she is not afraid to use them.

"You knew about the, uh, operation, didn't you? I texted you myself," She continued, staying on the other side of the desk, although she wondered if Arel was desperate enough to try to escape, using the paperwork as cover. She also ignored the ghost dog talk, too absorbed with her own thoughts, "Did you know that they were going to be stubborn enough to not listen to you, if you had asked us not to go? Did you know... What they decided to do to the hunter at the end? Aren't you curious?"

Sighing, she started to pace in front of the desk, hands behind her back, "There doesn't seem to be a way for us to reach a peaceful resolution... Uh, Mister Arel?" She tried to peer past the paperwork, looking sheepish, "Uh, we did something dangerous on our own... So... I'm very sorry if we worried you."

The stack of papers behind the secretary rustled just a bit as something hit the ground with a loud clunk. A pause, and then the sound of upholstry creaking awkwardly. "It is not my job to say what students do in their ah, spare time," Arel was speaking slowly, almost painfully slow, every word a struggle, "That means I have no right, as school secretary, to prevent students from taking dangerous extra-curricular activities."

Another sigh. "I can't help you Lizzy, I'm sorry. I can't help you because it would endanger the school. If you really are looking for guidance, I am with the rest of the faculty on this one, it isn't from taking in these.... activities. You are endangering yourself and the other students, even if you accept this fact, do you also accept the consequences?"

"Amityville doesn't fight. Not anymore." A clatter and then the sound of something being uncorked, a soft clink and hiss following. "Once was more than enough for us all."

"Consequences... Even if we sit still and do nothing, there will still be consequences," She sighed, sounding frustrated; she had hoped to feel slightly better, but the conversation was just making her feel worse. As if she wasn't already feeling guilty enough about it... But there was no choice, right? Even if she had called it off, Shun would probably have tried to do it himself, especially since Invictus had been so encouraging.

"What do you propose we do then?" She sighed, massaging her temples as she continued to pace, "Most of us have no idea how to defend ourselves. Yet, almost every school-based field trip or activity had ended up with us fighting and dying. We're desperate, and we're sick of not being able to at least help ourselves. I thought I could change that, but... This wasn't what I had in mind. If you have something like... Like that field trip with Professor QB! Where, you know, the humans could actually be spooked by us..."

That trip was good. It was enlightening. Sadly, the way things are now, it would take more than just one field trip to convince the students that 'attacking all hunters' was not the only solution. Or future. Or something.

"... Not anymore?" She frowned, partially at his choice of words and partially because she had a feeling that Arel didn't just open a bottle of pop, "What do you mean by that?" She stopped her pacing to stand at the side of the desk, staring at the school secretary.

Said secretary was in midst of a small, tiny sip of apple cider, mug tipped just slightly-

- Which he almost dropped again as he saw the student staring at him accusingly, self-consciously moving a little over there, shifting the papers rather conveniently so they were giving him a little more privacy. "Ah, you know what I mean, um," More rustling from behind the new stacks of paper, "The-the um, Red had- she ah-" He stopped himself, though it was obvious: he really did not need to elaborate.

The silence was a moment both occupants shared, of respect and longing. Red was long gone, the incident at the Haunted House the only thing that remained.

"Well, um, scaring humans is the right idea, that is who we are and why you are at Amityville, to learn how to scare humans. Knowing is half the battle, or something like that. You know, non-violent things." The secretary was fragmenting again, words simply a stream of babble. For a second, he looked nervously at the corridor, right at Hellma's Office and then back at Lizzy, voice lowering to a whisper behind the wall of papers. "Don't attract their attention more than you need to, you are not ready. Don't fight in conflict, don't make them angry." Arel suddenly raised his voice loudly, "Amityville is a safe place, there is nothing here to worry about." Another glance at the door. "Absolutely safe, nothing odd here, nope."

If Lizzy did not catch his expression, his tone was at least painfully clear that he was at his limits. At best, it sounded strained: she would most likely not get anything much else out of him, not without that strange ominous warning now ticking over her head.

Don't make them angry.

Ah... Red's incident. They did fight rather openly then, seeing how the Bogeymen had been involved; however, Professor Red was also there, on the battlefield, to egg them on. Come to think of it, after that particular field trip, the school hadn't done much to openly oppose the hunters... Every incident after had been covered up, either by the school itself, by the press, or by the Bogeymen.

Her eyes darted to the headmistress' office when the secretary looked that way, almost expecting to see Hellma there - which was why it was a huge relief to see that there wasn't anyone there.

"Non-violent, uh, right... I'm sure Amityville is perfectly safe," She at least made the effort to play along for a bit, frowning at the whispered words; was he giving advice? Given advice... Should be taken right? He was being really cryptic though. Pursing her lips, she lowered her voice, "You mean the Bogeymen? They've tried to shut us down before... But not fighting is impossible. They bite us, we bite back. It's kind of an instinct." Her frown deepened as she bowed and got ready to leave, waiting for that last confirmation from him. A 'yes', maybe, or even a nod...

It would be a while longer before Lizzy got any sort of confirmation behind the pile of papers. Maybe she was expecting words of encouragement, or perhaps this conversation had brought to light that one inportant point: that many staff members knew, knew continously how many times Amityville and its students were put in danger-

- And yet, refused to openly acknowledge it. Not after Red. Really, what did the staff have to fear?

What did they have to hide?

"Ah, yes, um, well, the bogeymen run their own schedule, even the Town Hall has very little say in their actions." The tip of one of the secretary's horns could be seen poking out from a shorter stack of papers. "Not all bogeymen are bad, but they are not all good either, your parents would know as well as you: bogeymen are not to be questioned. They follow their own code, and Halloween has always respected it."

Again, words that expected Lizzy to simply comply, words that spoke only futility. There was another long drawn out pause, just as the bell rang to signal the end of the day, echos and screeches of other students on the other side of the door, some unknowing, others continously internalizing, milling in the hallways outside. The dichotomy was almost surreal: the loud voices of students clashing with the silent, somber stillness of the class.

"Hang on." Arel suddenly was visible again, poking tentatively around a stack of cleaning bills. "Um, thank you for- for your respect to Red as students, a lot more of us appreciated it than you know. I um, ah, heard her office is still unsorted you know, like full of important things, not that you'd ah, want to check it out for you know, secret stuff about Amityville or anything." Nervously, he took one look back at Hellma's office and yelled very loudly, "But it's just all speculation okay!"

Not waiting for a reply the secretary grunted and moved back to his hiding spot behind the forest of papers.

"... I see," She frowned, bitting her lower lip; the Bogeymen had never really helped them when they were in need, and even kicked them when they were low. Sure, the students stopped them from shutting the school down once, but what if they tried again? What if they found out about Stacey, and used that against them? All the items had been accounted for, except the pendent Israfel picked up and refused to return. That would be... Evidence against them? Maybe?

She nodded at his comment on the Bogeymen, "I think that applies to a lot of people and organizations, mister Arel." Even among the student body... She was just glad that she had people she could trust right now.

"A lot of us did not know her personally, but she was still our teacher. She... We could see that she tried her best for us, so giving her our respect was the least we could do," She murmured, looking surprised at the secretary's 'speculation', "Oh... I thought that someone might... Ah..." She trailed off, staying silent for a moment before bowing at a stack of papers, "Thank you, mister Arel. I feel reassured about my safety now."

Actually, he made her felt about ten times worse.

"Have a good day," She offered him a smile - not that he could possibly see it - and quickly left the office, joining the many students who were in the corridor. The moment she was back in her room, she sent off a text to the secretary... And prayed that he would see it. Oh Jack, please let him see it.

idek if Arel has a phone, but I'm assuming yes because she... Sent him a text before, about the Seeds mission. 8D;;

Text to Arel from unknown number: I had a feeling it wasn't convenient to ask earlier, but does entry into Professor Red's office require some sort of a key? This is Lizzy, by the way.
