After everything that happened--and what had nearly happened to Reine--Eva felt that she really needed to talk to Otto. The creature, the parasite, and Caelius' attack on their friend--she needed to let all of it out to someone who she knew would listen. Despite the fact that the blond teen was quite the grump, Eva was certain that he wouldn't mind listening to her spill her guts.
...Now if only he was actually in.
It had taken Eva a couple of raps on the boy's room door to realize that he probably wasn't in right now. With a sigh, she retreated back across the hall to her own room, but only so that she could grab her beloved eevee plushie. She curled her good arm around the plush while being very careful not to moved her bandaged shoulder, slipping back out into the hallway. With a sigh, she flopped herself down in front of Otto's door--if he wasn't in, then she would just wait for him out here. Though...
...H-hmm, she was...feeling a little tired. It was no surprise, considering that she hadn't been getting any sleep at night lately. Maybe...maybe while she waited...she could just...close her eyes for a bit...
...
When Otto arrived back, he would find a dozing, injured girl clutching a Pokemon plushie right in front of his door.

Otto arrived back from duty, ready to hit the hay. However, he was met with something blocking his door. It was Eva. An injured, Pokemon cuddling Eva. He considered just moving her away and getting inside, but the fact she looked so tired and very beat up had him.. a little bit worried. "Uh..." Otto rubbed his neck. Should he wake her? Yeah.. The blond knelt down, looking at her state of being for a place to poke her. He ruffled the top of her head. "Yo! Woman, what ya doin' here? Go to bed."<> He could practically feel Tenya eye roll in his mind.

Nnnnngh, who was trying to wake her up? Groaning, Eva stirred, lifting her hands in an attempt to push away Otto's hand. "Okay, okay," She grumbled, "I'm up--oh, wait. Puppy?"
Eyes fluttering open, Eva looked up at the boy groggily, silent as she let her eyes focus. When it became obvious that it really was Otto, she smiled, reaching out to give him a pat on the head.
"Hi, Puppy. Sorry about that. I was waiting for you, and I must have..." Trailing off, she shook her head. Didn't matter. "Do you have time right now? I wanted to talk to you about something."

Puppy. For some reason, Otto cared less and less that she hardly ever called him by his actual name. He raised a brow at ehr grogginess, wondering if she knew sleeping in the hallway was hobo antics. Otto stared for a while after she spoke again and shrugged. "Sure, whatever." Not like he was tired or anything. Yes he was."What's up?" Apparently he thought talking in the hall was fine. So unless she asked him to go elsewhere...

And indeed, Eva didn't want to talk about this out here. She pushed herself to her feet, catching herself on the wall when she stumbled slightly. She was relieved that Otto had agreed and, without a word, tucked her Eevee under her arm and grabbed Otto's wrist to pull him into her room...
...Where he would be met with the sight of all the plushies he had bought her piled up on her bed. Eva said nothing about this though, releasing her hand and moving over to her desk chair. Sinking down on the chair, she motioned towards the bed, indicating that he should take a seat.
...Somehow.
"Just push some of them to the side," She suggested, squeezing her Eevee plushie to her chest.
Eva still looked exhausted and only half-awake, which was probably why she didn't choose to sit on the bed as well. The last thing she wanted was to doze off in the middle of talking.

Otto followed after her, since he was being pulled anyway. He'd almost forgotten he had given her the plushies he was met with, about to make fun of her for having so many. Geez, what was he thinking? Otto approached the bed cautiously, moving enough of them so he could sit down. He glanced at them wearily, watching as their beady eyes looked up at him, and promptly looked away. Creeeeeepy. How could Eva sleep like this? "Alright. So what is it?" She seemed off. He glanced at her injury, listing his eyes to meet hers after a moment. "What happened?"

Eva smiled, though the smile didn't reach her eyes. "Truth be told, I just need someone to play therapist for me and listen as I talk. That would be you." There was a hint of humour in her voice--a familiar teasing tone--but most of it was shadowed by fatigue. Before Otto could (doubtlessly) complain about playing shrink, Eva held up a hand and interrupted him.
"Reine and I...we almost died."
If that didn't catch his attention, she didn't know what would.
After a pause, she quietly continued, "Reine was given a mission, and she asked a couple of us--er, two, but it turned into four--to accompany her. It was...just a surveillance mission, so it should have been easy, but..." Her arm wound more tightly around her plushie, her face growing paler, "Things went really...really wrong."

Shrink? Wow, Eva knew him even less than he though. He did indeed start to try and complain. Maybe even call her stupid. But what she said did get his attention, and clammed him up. Almost died? Not that it wasn't anything new in their field, but the way Eva was acting made it clear this wasn't ordinary hunter turmoil. He was usually blase about anyone's experiences, and never cared to keep up with what people were up to. However, the way Eva said that, made him wonder for a moment how he would feel if one day they never came back. He didn't like the feeling that accompanied that thought. "Wrong how? What went wrong?" He asked, curious to know how a simple surveillance mission could cause her to look so beat up. Curious, and a little bit concerned.

Eva gave him a brief, basic rundown on what happened. How they had gone into a house to investigate and found two children. How they had brought these children to a church, where other survivors had taken refuge. How what seemed like dozens, if not hundreds attacked the church, tearing the refugees limb from limb as they tried to fend them off.
"We blacked out. When we woke up, we were all tied up, and--oh god, Otto. There was a man there with us, and there was also this...this bug. The monster dropped the insect into the guy's ear, and he...he just...exploded."
She was shaking, her eyes distant as the scene played through her mind again. The memory of the desperation in the man's eyes, of all the blood and gore strewn about--she could see it so clearly that she had to shut her eyes and try to force down a wave of nausea. "That thing just used that poor man as an example. It...it wanted to know something from us, so it...it grabbed me a-and it...held one of those bugs up to..."
"No. No, I can't." Eva said abruptly, pulling her legs up onto her chair and against her legs as she curled in on herself. She had wanted to share what had happened with Otto--partly in hopes that it would lift a weight off her shoulders to talk to someone about it--but she had discovered that talking about it was much, much harder than expected.

Otto was at a loss. What to say or even do? The story Eva was retelling was horrifying. If she had been talking about an upcoming movie plot, he'd have been interested. But this was something that happened for real. To someone he knew. He'd been so engrossed in her story that when she abruptly halted telling anymore and curled into herself, he was left stunned. Wow uh.. what do I say to that?<>But she's like... upset and stuff.<>Haaaaaah....Otto rubbed his neck and looked around uncomfortably. Why bring this to him? Was there something written on his forehead that said he was any good at consoling people? "Uh.. well.. Yer safe now?" He looked toward the curled up form of Eva as she snuggled her plush toy. He did feel badly for her, even concern was there. He wasn't a total monster. "Right..?"<>Still, she had said both her and Reine almost died, and so far he didn't know how they got out of it. <<Hug.>>He really wanted to know---- <>. . ."Um.. I guess if you need anything---"<>Otto's eye twitched.

Under any other circumstance, the hesitance and awkwardness in Otto's voice probably would have brought a smile to Eva's face. Not today, however. At the very least, his attempt at comforting her did manage to break through the dark images that had once again been forming in her head. Would the image of that poor victim ever leave her mind?
She lifted her head slightly, but her gaze was dropped to the floor. Just as suddenly as she stopped her story, she began again, her voice so soft that one would probably have to strain to hear her. "The thing dug one of its claws into my shoulder. That's how..." Trailing off, she looked down at her injured shoulder, "And then it kept demanding something from Reine and the others. Information? I was starting to black out from blood loss by that point."
She shuddered. She had never been so certain that she was about to die, if not from the insect, then from blood loss. It would have happened too, if not for...
"Caelius showed up. I...I'm not entirely sure what happened--I was flickering in and out of consciousness--but I remember that the thing was gone." This sounded like a happy end, right? The big heroes show up and save the day?
Eva's voice may have taken on an uncharacteristically bitter tone as she continued, "Caelius, he...he refused to help us. Apparently we were useless to him now? And then he..." Her voice dropped to a whisper, "All I saw was his scythe come swinging around and right into Reine."

Otto winced, imagining how it would feel to be trapped as a claw dug it's way into your body. Caelius's arrival in the story sent off warning bells right away. After all the encounters they'd had with him, he simply didn't trust the guy. He'd always been condensing, which in itself was a good way to get on Otto's bad list -- more than that was how he always seemed to use the hunters and trainees as bait, fodder, a means to an end while he would come out unscathed. Bad news. That's what the Death lead was. Otto's face went dark then. Caelius tried to kill Reine? That did it. Any doubt Otto had in not trusting the lead of his division were gone. He'd never done anything to earn the trust and respect of anyone in Deus. And now? He'd gone ahead and committed attempted murder of a goddamn trainee. His friend to boot. "That unimaginable b*****d.." Otto growled under his breath, his fists tightening. "Ya know, the leads here might be bat s**t crazy, but at least they all look out for their own." Like Allen, who he hated with a burning passion. Still, Otto could reserve some respect for him. "How is Reine?" Otto asked urgently, leaning forward and staring daggers at the soft spoken Eva.
