Round One: Group OneThis is the roleplaying thread for Round One of the March Murder Mystery Mix-Up contest. This thread is to be used by members of Group One only. If you are in Group Two, please roleplay in this thread. Please do not post here if you have not received a message verifying that you are a contestant in the contest. If you are in Group One, please read this entire post carefully before posting. PrologueWhen the taxi drops you off at the address enclosed in the envelope, you can only sit there and gape for a couple of moments before exiting the vehicle.
The building that you stand in front of is beautiful in its own right. Enormous, with windows lined neatly against the dull cream color, and spiraling pillars guarding the sides of the archway of what seemed to be the main entrance. The whole area seems entirely tamed in a way, and you can only wonder about the price of keeping the rolling fields and flower gardens as green and beautiful as they are now.
Aside from the sprawling estate, you notice that you’re practically in the middle of nowhere. The home of this Mr. Renald Wallace seems to be settled in the heart of a rural forest. The road that you had taken went through the mountains, and it had seemed to be the only road from civilization to here. With no signs of people around for miles, you can only imagine what the late Mr. Wallace did in his spare time.
Before you can ponder upon that thought some more though, the large mahogany doors swing open with a creak. The taxi that you had taken here has long since left and your mind starts flicking back through all the horror movies that you’ve seen, with houses that look like this one and doors that creak upon opening. Expectations are far from the reality that you’re facing however, because as soon as the door fully swings open, you find yourself staring at a kindly looking elder dressed in what seems to be butler's clothing from old black and white movies.
“Welcome,” he greets you, a crinkle in his eyes and a warm smile on his face. “All the other guests are waiting, so please follow me.” He gestures to the inside of the mansion and you find yourself taking a big breath as you hesitantly step forwards into the relative penumbra of the deceased billionaire's home.Rules for this RoundPlease remember to follow all the rules of this contest, as well as the Gaia ToS. Please limit OOC chat as much as possible here. You are welcome to post OOC chat in the discussion thread. If you must post OOC in this thread, please add an OOC: tag at the end of your post. We also encourage you to use a tag-line. The tag-line can quickly tell the other players who needs to respond to your post. Please restrict tags to the end of your post. For the first time in a long while he felt genuinely relaxed and impressed as a guest in another's home, perhaps partially because this time his only objective as a guest was simply that. No "clean-up" job to handle for now. All he had to do was be a guest, simple and clean... at least as long as things remained that simple. If problems arose, however, he was fairly confident he could handle himself and still get what he wanted in the process.
It didn't look like anyone else had arrived at the Wallace estate just yet, so he had some time to think and investigate his surroundings. Lavish decor inside the manor with calming and gentle gardens bringing the elegance out into the massive yard. The man rested his hands in the pockets of his deep blue dress pants as he eyed the outside world through the bay window. Everything seemed so... peaceful and beautiful here. To live a peaceful rest of his life was his goal. You can only fix criminal problems for so long in your life before looking forward to a nice retirement. In his case, he'd even planned ahead and begun building up for his early retirement only to have the economy fall out from underneath him. He needed this money.
It was so nice of life to place this option in front of him in the form of a wax-sealed letter. The easier, the better. So now he stood in the home of the recently deceased Renald Wallace under the name of Calvin Visher, looking for and planning for possibly the easiest score of wealth he's ever made.

The car door opened and a pair of heels that were worn by a lady named Giselle Attwater. She looked up at the manor that was held by the late Mr. Wallace, which actually was very elegant. She could use this place back at the office to her clients if she actually inherited the place, or maybe she could use this place to be her home away from home.
She walked up to the heavy wooden doors, which creaked open. She looked at the old gentleman that looked like he belonged in the manor. He looked like he belonged in that old movie Clue that she saw when she was younger.
"Welcome." he greeted her. He had that kind of look that reminded her of some grandpa. He led her through the manor to one of the rooms, where one other guest was waiting. He did look that he did take his time to properly dress for such an event. She took a seat on one of the velvet chairs, waiting to see if anyone else was going to come to the manor as well.

Sivan smiled cheerfully as he rode in silence up to the manor. He'd dressed in his favorite suit, one of the many he'd fashioned himself. A black vest that sat atop a blue dress shirt which was adorned with white stripes, matching black slacks fell to rest on midnight colored dress shoes, he also wore a black and blue striped tie that was neatly tucked into his vest. His short blue hair lay trimmed and tailored to his liking, with each strand of hair lay perfectly in sync with the next.
As he approached the building seemed to rise slowly over fields and hills that sprawled out for what seemed like forever. The lush estate was rather breath-taking, it looked like something right out of the movies. To say the least, he was a bit stunned by the magnitude of it all. It all shimmered with a sort of regal glow that could only be bought and paid for, nothing naturally looks that perfect. The young teen's mouth hung loosely as he surveyed the area, he'd gazed at the gardens for what seemed like forever until the creaking of the large doors drew his attention back to the manor. Sivan froze, his sky colored eyes fixated themselves on whatever had provoked the door to move in such a way. Yet when the old butler came into view the teen had to do everything in his power not to squeal in delight. The older man was like something out of a comic book, everything about his demeanor screamed 'Loyal Butler'. Sivan deduced that this man had been in there service of Mr. Wallace for quite some time.
"Welcome," he'd greeted with a smile that was about as warm as one of Sivan's father's winter coats. "All the other guests are waiting, so please follow me.'' The butler beckoned him to follow and the teen obliged and as he crossed the threshold, his breath escaped him. The interior was far grander than what he could even dream of. The highly exquisite furnishings almost hurt to stare at, and the floor was so polished and clean it pained him to sully the perfection with his shoes. He imagined leaving all sorts of blemishes and smudges in his wake, constantly glancing over his shoulder to check and see if his shoes had turned into goo and he was tracking all sorts of mess around the house.
They hadn't, of course. But Sivan couldn't help but think that he'd possibly be making more work for someone because he forgot to wipe his feet properly. He was soon led to a room that contained a small group other people, probably relatives and friends of some sorts. There were three in all, a rather burly man seated on a plush sofa that sat adjacent to a velvet tub chair that a woman was sitting on, and another man stood staring out the window near silk curtains.
Sivan crossed the room at a hastened pace, reaching his hand out to grasp the fabric, he rubbed it between his index and thumb, savoring the smooth texture. His mind raced as he thought of all the beautiful works of art he could create with it, though deep down he knew that there was no way he'd be allowed to alter the decor until after he'd gotten his money.
That's right! Money! He'd been so caught up in observing his surroundings he'd forgotten to ask the Butler about the money! Sivan whirled to the doorway that he'd traversed through to get into this room, expecting to see the older man standing there. But, to his dismay, it was vacant. 'Hm.. probably going to buff the floor or something..', he thought as he turned his attention back to the curtains.

Aeric was picking at the dried blood on his knuckles while sitting in the small, cramped taxi that was taking him to whatever place that god forsaken letter had told him to go to. Sure, he knew this mystery place wasn't going to be in the middle of some giant, crowded city, but he also hadn't believed that it would so far out that it would seem to take almost half the day to get there. He hadn't slept one second in that car and once it was gone, Aeric was happy. Taxi drivers could be killers so easily, they had such a good job to "hide" behind. He felt lucky that his life was still intact once he reached the mansion.
Sure, the estate would have been "breath-taking" if Aeric had actually taken the time to look at it for more than three seconds. He didn't care about how great this place would be, this whole ordeal seemed like something out of a badly planned horror movie. he muttered as the last of the dried blood was pried off of his knuckles. Nobody would know that he had almost killed someone just the day before. Gang fights. Deadly things.
Once the large doors of the mansion finally opened and the older man spoke with a warm smile, Aeric was finally interested, at least a little bit. "Thanks, old man," he muttered after being welcomed inside. The interior of the house wasn't looked at for a long period of time either, one quick look and the golden-brown haired male was back to staring at his own hands. They were too clean now. He hated things that were too "clean." For some reason, seeing the group of people in the room he was brought to surprised him. He hadn't expected other people, even though he knew that he should have. All he could do was scan the room with his blue-green eyes and wait for someone to do something.'Dammit. Competition.'

With each new arrival his dark green eyes would flick back almost mechanically to observe and evaluate their presence. A nicely dressed woman had taken a seat in one of the velvet chairs on the other side of the room, keeping to herself and making things much easier on Calvin. The less socializing he was forced to do, the better. Coming off as being rude was something he wanted to avoid, especially if he was to inherit wealth from this Wallace character and there was the chance that she was a close relative of his. In fact, perhaps he should have done better research to determine what the actual relationship between the real Visher family and Renald Wallace had been. In any case, he could wing it. As long as he could play along and play it off well without going into unnecessary details he would be set. This doesn't even come close to the challenges of some previous jobs he'd been in; From his experiences with his jobs he knew that people were mostly trusting and unaware, so this should be easy.
Like a strong wind rustling up the leaves of his thoughts, the next arrival casually walked into the room and made himself quite at home. The young man's greeting seemed rushed and empty somehow, so it wasn't hard for Calvin to just nod in response and consider that adequate. He knew he wouldn't be able to do that again and get away with it without being seen in a bad light if he was spoken to again by this seemingly friendly possible relative to the late Wallace. With the little amount of time it had taken the newcomer to make himself relaxed and comfortable in such an uncommonly grand household it wasn't an empty assumption.
It wasn't much longer before an even younger man made an appearance, his blue hair coordinating with a blue and black suit. Though he seemed to be well-polished himself for someone so young, even he was obviously intrigued by the manner of decor in this manor. Going off of behavior alone, Calvin was going to assume that this particular newcomer was unfamiliar with this household, possibly unfamiliar with the family like himself.
The next arrival Calvin didn't so much as take a quick glance at before sizing him up sufficiently enough. He gave off the air of not caring about the home he was in or the other people in it beyond what they might do to him.
Returning his eyes to the window he began to gather up all of his thoughts and organize them. Nothing had really been complicated by these new people showing themselves; he would still receive what it was stated he would receive regardless. The only thing that mattered was keeping it cool and simple.

As she sat on the plush chair Giselle took the time to look over at the other comers who had arrived to hear the reading of this now deceased man's will. There was the man standing by the what appeared to be silk curtains, there's the man who sat in the chair not too far away from her, and a few others who didn't appear to stick in her mind all that much.
But she knew that all of them, and herself included were had probably come all this way just to see about the money that this man had left behind, and she can get ahold of such with what she had learned back in California, but it would have to wait. She looked over at the man who had said hello just a little earlier.
"Hello." she replied. She might as well make conversaiton for the time being.

Mehllie frowned as she stepped forward towards the Mansion...She got a bad feeling just by looking at this place: There are friendlier looking dark alleys. Ah well. She unwrinkled her cardigan and straightened her jeans while she brushed a few loose strands of her snowy, blue-tipped hair away from her eyes and neatly placed it behind her ear while blinking and taking in the scenery. It would have been a beautiful mansion had it not been for the impending feeling of doom the Mansions aura gave off. Admittedly, she would also feel A LOT more at ease if she knew in case she HAD to flee that there was somewhere to flee to...on the ride here she stopped seeing other places the last half-hour or so of the taxi ride, and even if she COULD run, she'd get caught if she ran down the road and LOST if she tried to navigate through the surrounding forest. Already things weren't looking good. Forcing away the feeling of dread, she decided she'll look for a map first thing and took a deep breath as she wrestled with her conscience while walking ever closer to the door that seemed to know she was there given it automatically opened for her. Was she a sell out for being here? Was she really so desperate for money she'd go to a clearly dangerous place just for a slight chance at winning some cash? When put THAT WAY, she kind of felt like a prostitute, even though THERE WAS NO WAY she was ever going to sleep with anybody here. She already HAD someone she liked. Still, the reason for being here was no different than a prostitutes reason for banging strangers: Money. No, no! This is DIFFERENT. She needs this money. Nothing was more important to her than getting money for a decent place to live and a good college education. She was tired of merely being known as a circus performer, even if she once lived in the lap of luxury. She wanted to be something great enough to earn the fame and fortune, not just rely on Lady Luck. She wanted to walk down the street and have people know her name. She could just envision walking down the street one day and hearing: "Look, it's Mehllie Lil’wishes Daisy!"
"Oh my gosh, really!? No way! What would a famous actress be doing here?!" Or maybe she could be a doctor...or a scientist...or a veterinarian...maybe a famous novelist! The sky's the limit. She nodded vehemently to herself, smiled, and pressed on, clearly fighting off her conscious (and possibly common sense) while permanently deciding to stay in this place FOR HER FUTURE, which the money she would, or might, win here could easily provide. She was getting ahead herself as she greeted the Butler back heartily and followed him to a room with a bunch of faces she didn't know. Her stomach sort of lurched: She was a performer, so she was used to lots of people staring at her, but she couldn't help but feel hopeless when looking around and knowing every single person here could win the money just as easily as she could. She shyly began to filter her fingers through her hair from her ponytail that was hanging on her shoulder and then slightly waved a greeting at all present while cracking a small smile. She would have attempted an ACTUAL greeting, but she feared if she attempted to do so it would be the equivalent of a kitten TRYING to meow and the result being soundless, and the last thing she needed was people thinking she was an easy target. Every single person in this room, admitting it to themselves or not, became enemies the minute they walked through that door and Mehllie knew it. It looked like she was in for some hot competition, but she didn't mind. All competition would do is just make the sweet taste of victory THAT much sweeter.TAG: All~
