It had been an arduous trip back. He had Hel seen to, watched as her wounds were closed up with the Nurse's expertise. He felt the reality of the situation sink in deeper and deeper.
Hel would never get her wings back.

Mot carried the grumbling Valkyrie back to her room, his arms weak and tired from having to deal with her so long. He needed help. His mental capacity to deal with something so traumatic was at it's limit. He knew once Hel realized her situation, things would get very ugly. As it stood, he couldn't do this alone.

Mot left Hel on her bed, promising to return very soon.

The grim reaper shut the door and walked the short distance to the next room beside Hel. Her sister, Freya. She needed to know, and he needed her help desperately.

He breathed in shakily, and knocked on the door.

Freya didn't expect the knock, but that didn't keep her from smiling as she heard it. Who could be visiting her at a time like this? She wasn't even expecting Herryk, which meant someone new and exciting had come to say hello. She hopped off her couch and opened the door, flinging it wide open and holding both of her arms out as if to welcome whoever it was with a hug. When she saw Mot, she almost went in for the hug, until she really saw him. She stared at his disheveled, troubled form, and her hands dropped to her sides.

"Mot..?" Her voice caught in her throat. Was that blood all over him? Why would Mot, of all people-

Her eyes widened imperceptively, and her voice flattened. "What's wrong."

Hel’s demeanor hadn’t changed all that much since leaving the Haunted House…if anything, she was steadily growing more and more agitated. Much like the steam that had enveloped the room, Hel’s mind felt much like it was in a fog that obscured her from the true reality of her situation. All that she knew right now was that she was sick of being carted around and that she wanted to be…alone. Her back felt like it burned and ached, and as Mot left her on the bed, she scowled.

He should just return to his room and rest. He didn’t need to come back…and what was he doing anyways? No, she didn’t care…but she still couldn’t help but be foul tempered as she sat there hunched on her bed, still in her bloodied clothes. She wanted to lie down…but at the same time she didn’t want to move.

When Freya answered the door, Mot couldn't even manage a smile. Freya.. he wondered how she would take the news that her sister had been rendered flightless.

"It's..." His voice wavered, hands clenched into fists, his eyes weak and to the point of breaking. "It's Hel.." He took a breath, trying to maintain eye contact with the older Valkyrie. "We were.." He couldn't explain the mission or Seeds, and mulled over his choice of words again. "She was attacked by a hunter and.. her wings were.." He cringed. He couldn't get the words out.

He stepped back, gesturing Freya to come out. "Please help.. she's in her room.. I don't think she realizes how bad it is yet.."

It's Hel.

Somehow, the moment she'd seen Mot's face, she'd known. She moved through the doorway, even as he spoke, and closed the door behind her. Her hand paused on the doorknob when he mentioned her wings, and her grip tightened for a moment. A mixture of horror and relief filled her at once; the idea of injury to their wings horrified her, but at least.. at least this meant she was alive.

She put her hand on Mot's shoulder and squeezed it gently, before pulling him into a sudden hug. "Okays." She murmured, soaking in every ounce of strength she could muster out of herself, before letting him go and walking across the hall. As stupid as it was, she knocked on the door first.

"Hel, my baby, my little crumpet, yehr sister's comings in, okays? Makes sure yehr decent."

No…he didn’t…

Hel groaned, loudly. No. She didn’t want to be fussed over right now and she didn’t want to…she didn’t want to see any kinds of looks on her sister’s face at what she’d been reduced to. Damn. She should have gotten up and locked her door.

“…You both do not need to bother, ya?” She snapped from her bed. “I just want to be alone now.”

Mot didn't expect the hug. He'd honestly expected her to go flying to Hel upon hearing Hel's name.

He followed after her, hearing Hel speak from beyond the closed door. "Don't let her tell you that." Mot whispered to Freya, leaning down so Hel wouldn't hear. "She needs to get cleaned up yet." And Mot was not about to try and do that.

The grim reaper opened the door, and walked on in. "You can be alone another time." He said to her solemnly.

If Mot hadn't opened the door, Freya would have slammed it open herself. There was no force that could have stopped her from doing so, at this point. But having him do the opening gave her a second to brace herself for what she was about to see. Unfortunately, Hel knew her sister well, and tragedy etched lines into Freya's expression almost instantly. She couldn't see the full extent of the damage, but she surged forward and flung herself at Hel's feet, crawling onto the bed to do so. "My baby, my little baby, what did they do to yeh, what did they do.." She couldn't help herself. Hel was going to hate every second of it, but Freya was filled with the urge to fuss, and bemoan the tragedy of her sister's loss.

"What happened?" Her voice hitched as she looked up at Mot, waiting for an answer that would certainly not come from the grumpy, bloody form in Freya's arms. Still, she brushed her hands against Hel's forearms and tried to pluck at her hair, as if fixing her hair would make her feel better right now. She did what she could do, because there was nothing else to do but that.

That look on Freya’s face.

Devastating. It was exactly what she didn’t want to see. “Tch.” Hel looked away from the two of them as they entered. Freya meant well, she really did, but right now, all the ghoul wanted to do was crawl into a hole. Maybe cease to exist. Maybe. It was made worse by Freya’s words.

My baby. My little baby.

Oh, knock it off!” Hel cried, a hand snapping out to try and push Freya off of her now. She pointed an accusing finger at Mot. “You. You are about to fall like a Jack damn tower of cards.” She hissed. “So do us both a favor and leave and get some rest, and you!” She swatted another hand at the hand trying to pluck at her hair. “You are too busy tupping to concern yourself with important matters! I bet his bed is awfully cold at the moment, hm?” She sneered. “You are free to leave as well and warm it up.

Mot closed the door, slowly walking toward the bed where Freya fussed with Hel. He truly felt she should be with family at a time like this.

Deep down Mot knew Hel would be defensive and stubborn, but not to such a degree. She was lashing out at those she loved. Mot flinched as she pointed, but stood his ground for now. "I'm fine." He told her. He didn't need rest. He was barely hurt, at least as far as he knew. he was too worried about Hel to notice. Then again, carrying her so long had strained his energy.

Still.. he could not bring himself to leave Hel's side. Not yet.

"Hel, she's here because she worries for you." How could she speak to her elder sister in such a way?

Hel's words absolutely stung. Freya threatened to crumble under the weight of her accusations, but Hel needed her big sister right now - even if she swore up and down that all she really needed was for Freya to go away. She sucked in a deep breath, straightened up, and tried not to pout. Though the last failed, she still managed to look somewhat stubborn. "I'm goings teh forgets yeh says any of that, because I knows yehr hurtings and I woulds be sayings some mean, stupid things if I was in as much pain as yeh. So yes, get it all out, crumpet, if it makes yeh feels better teh insults me. But I tells yeh one thing right now, if yeh don't likes wasting yehr time, then zip it. Because I am not leavings."

She side-glanced at Mot for a second, before nodding sharply and turning back to Hel. "And neither is he. So finds someone else to talks bad about for a while."

She stood off the bed, and moved around to sit on the other side, which meant being behind Hel's back. She wanted a look at what the nurse had done to care for her sister - and the extent of the damage. "Did Cricket gives yeh somethings for teh pain, or should I makes yeh some tea?"

No, you are not fine.” She spat, and then whirled her attention back onto her sister. “You are only around when I do not want you to be.” She snarled. “Like right now. I want both of you to leave right now. I do not want anyone right now, I do not need anyone right now.” No, she just wanted to curl up under those blankets and sleep. It’d make everything go away for right now. “None of you could help me then and none of you can help me now, so just leave!”

She’d say anything to try and get them to leave at this point. Not that it could be seen, with the bloodied tunic in the way, and underneath that, gauze, but her wounds had been re-stitched by Cricket and FEAR healed as well. “She gave me a pumpkin pill.” Hel snapped, “And NO, I do not want any ******** tea!” The ghoul flopped forward and buried her face in her blankets and let out an aggravated cry.

What would he do without Freya? He may had been scared of her before (actually he still was), but the only reason Mot wasn't crumbling like a hammer smashed cookie was because she was holding up too. Hel continued to lash out at them both, desperate to get them to leave. Part of him wanted to abide her request. What was the harm? But he couldn't bring himself to believe she'd be okay all alone.

What could he do? Tell her not to yell? Not to be upset? No, that would be stupid. Hel had every right. Even if she made him feel guilty for failing to protect her.

"I'll make tea." Mot announced, despite Hel's insistance she wanted nothing. He moved to the kitchen and began preparing hot drinks. It was something to keep him busy.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 06, 2012 11:41 am

Perhaps Hel's words wouldn't hurt so much if they weren't so very true. Freya had prided herself on her care over her sister - but as soon as she'd stepped foot in this school intent on watching over Hel like a mother hen, all she'd done was get distracted with friends, and boilfriends, and parties, and interwebs, and - ugh. Freya had turned into the worst sister ever, which, in her book, made her the worst person ever.

And now, she hadn't been there for Hel, and Hel had paid the ultimate price.

That had almost done it. She eyed the door, sorely tempted to give Hel exactly what she was asking for, but her hands clamped down on the bed covers as if denying her that escape. She wanted to flee, and forget how painful Hel's words had struck her, but she had to suffer. She had to hurt, and face her pain, and that meant sticking by Hel, even when she didn't want her sister around.

So she sat there, silently, waiting until Mot walked out of the room before the tears started to stream from her eyes, and she curled up beside her sister's flopped form, silently crying as she stared at her. She would lie here, and be hated, and learn from it.

Mot was making ******** tea, and her sister was not ******** leaving. UGH! Wait…Hel turned her head to stare at her sister incredulously, and she nearly flipped her lid at what she saw. “Are you crying!?” Hel seethed. “No, Freya, you are not allowed to cry! You do not have any right to!” The ghoul wailed. No. She didn’t want to be on this bed anymore with her, and right now, the only safe place it seemed would be the bathroom.

Hel struggled to push herself up into a sitting position, and swung her feet around to touch the floor. This would be fine. She told herself. She could do this no problem. Hel pushed herself off of the bed and immediately crumpled to the ground. She was tired still, and without that extra weight on her back her balance was off. Hel scowled, and immediately started to push herself back up to stand once more.
