Relic lays off 39 people, I guess of 40 employed? The last one turns off the lights.

Suddenly falls to his kneesI felt a great disturbance among the machine spirits… as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
This is a grim day for us fans. sad

I think this is for the best. As I could see this turning more into a Diablo esque game which to be frank aren't a lot of these days and are in my opinion a very good style.
Just think about how good Diablo 2 is. The concept of a seemless singleplayer and multiplayer experience is imbodied in Diablo 2. If Dark Millenium can create a similar experience it would be much better than any MMO.
Especially when you consider Dark Millenium would have attempted to copy what has made WoW so succussful and ultimately failed when it can not. I see this as a good step.

Yes, thanks, these are my exact thoughts on the matter. Though instead of a Diablo experience, think of the game as an RPG-lite experience with third person Battlefield 3 components instead.

Somehow I have a feeling that the "multiplayer aspects" in question will be based around the borderlands/dead island/etc. drop-in/drop-out system. That would actually be a good thing for me though since I have a number of friends who love that type of system.

To be brutally honest, Dark Millennium could never compete with the other MMO's out there, if Warhammer couldn't, 40k wouldn't fare any better. WAR had to go up against WOW, Dark Millennium would have to compete with Star Wars. I'm hazarding a guess here by stating that the initial success of the Star Wars MMO has probably done a lot to make THQ change Dark Millennium.
The dropping of the MMO system in favour of a different system might actually prolong the longevity of the game itself. Perhaps best of all, no monthly fees to be paid after the initial purchase. ninja

Well the reason the Warhammer fantasy MMO failed was because it was a pile of steaming bad. There were many many possible outcomes for the game. It could have been truly epic. The ideas were all good. But then it fell apart in the actual development IMO.
I admit that a 40k MMO has /alot/ to compete with, but as long as its ideas are eh...i suppose "revolutionary" enough i believe the gaming community will recognize it.
Not that it even matters at this point. All we get is another single player experience...That and i believe the single player Space Hulk game will be released at some point..
