Hooray.
I actually have a splitting headache. I had a sinus headache when I got on the airplane and boy does air-pressure on the landing love to mess with a sinus headache. Hooey. Probably the worst headache of my life.
I'll probably have more fun Taiwanny stories to tell when I'm done frying my liver with ibuprofen.
This post was quite some time ago but because my computer has been broken for weeks, I haven't been able to go on Gaia so I only saw your post today. I was kinda shocked, you know...YOU ARE IN TAIPEI?? Hello hello, I'm Taiwanese!! (but living in South Africa)
So how is it there? Do you like it there? The people? I think it would be interesting in a foreigner's point of view...
Hahah well unfortunately it wasn't quite the trip I expected. My boyfriend and I went there to visit his friend, and expected to see the city and the nightlife. Instead we were driven out to Ken Ting for most of the trip for ATV'ing, snorkeling etc. Which is still fun, but doesn't say much for actual sightseeing.
I liked the food better in Taiwan than I did in Hong Kong, and the night market in Taipei was outstanding. I had soooo much fun trying to catch goldfish and win prizes at game stalls. The driving is a lot different there and it was interesting to see so many people on those motorbike thingies. Motor scooters or whatever =P
The few people I did encounter seemed nice, and any time we needed help people seemed happy to assist us.It was hard not speaking the language and trying to get around but people were happy to point us in the right direction when we had an address.
There seemed to be a lot of dogs wandering around, which I know is a silly thing to point out but I love it. You don't get that in Canada, ever. Nobody lets their dog walk around without them and there are never any feral dogs at all.
I would love the chance to go back to Taiwan some day and see more of it. I felt like I only got an itty bitty little taste and I liked what I saw =P It just made me want to see it more than I did before.
So you speak Mandarin, then? Or Taiwanese? Or both? Or neither?
