“Snow flurries began to fall and they swirled around people's legs like house cats. It was magical, this snow globe world.”

Character Name: Mithril Shankar
Player Name: Orpheus Solon
Race: Mononoke, Arctic Hare
Aspirations: Mithril wants to be like his father, to follow in the man's footsteps, and become a black smith just like he is... the only problem being that the man isn't having it. Not only is Mithril talented when it comes to his magic but he is also a mononoke, something that his father refuses to see wasted on the forge. Despite his claims that he is fine with a more normal life he is still does his best to study enough to make his father happy with his progress though he isn't quite sure where to go next, making all the work seem a little detached from any true goal as of yet. From where he currently stands as a graduated Witch he has a few paths laid out before him and he is still in heavy debate as to what it is that he really wishes to do among them. Ars Lilium, Reaper, Cerberus Knight, Blackheart, or even a Sage, any of those paths is open to him according to his father, all he has to do is take the first step in the direction of his choosing. All he has to do now is decide.
And not with dice, he was already told he wasn't allowed to do it that way.
When it comes to less dizzying, life long goals, and what Mithril wants to be able to do in the present is to be able to get over his fears of all the things, and people, that he sees as being 'scary' so he can face them head on. The problem being that his mononoke self isn't for facing of against scary things, instead it's all for running from them as fast as his feet will carry him...
Personality: Due to the animal his mononoke side stems from being rather strong in him, Mithril can be a bit easily startled, especially by other mononoke, those who have the traits of predatory animals especially send his heart racing. His deeply ingrained flight reflexes are quite strong and it takes everything inside of him to keep from bolting when he finds himself facing off against another mononoke, even in casual passing, that appears as though he or she comes from stock that would normally eat a rabbit without a second thought. He doesn't always succeed either, having been seen on numerous occasions turning a full one hundred an eight degrees to avoid someone that his mononoke blood finds to be scary. Where as something like a wolf or big cat mononoke might send him fleeing like his little rabbit life depended on it, it's pretty well possible that he might very well faint dead away at the sight of a dragon mononoke. Not exactly something that helps a guy keep his pride intact but he can't help what he is afraid of try as he might.
Despite his issues with 'scary things' Mithril doesn't dislike people as a whole. In fact it seems that he is alright when it comes to normal humans, and even some Majin, other then perhaps Witch Eaters, so long as they appear nice enough and normal enough. With those sorts of people he can be pretty cuddly and and under food, seeming to forget all about things like personal space instead wanting nothing more then to curl up in someone's lap and have his ears petted. Mithril seems to show no preference to one gender over the other, instead seeming to love everyone equally, falling in love fairly quickly with those of his type, but without much of a desire to settle down.
Aside from the times when he is contently laying in someone's lap with his ears being pet it seems that Mithril is unable to stay still, always wanting to be moving, and even when he is relaxing, or at least his version of it, he will tapping his feet, twitching his ears, swishing his tail and the like. Constant movement, that seems to cease only when he is asleep or extremely content and even then his ears are always moving, seeking out the sounds of anything dangerous that might be lingering around be it real or just him scaring himself trying to guess what each and every little thump and creak might be.
Short Biography/background: Mithril was raised by his single father, a man of few words, who always seemed to be working hard. His job is something that Mithril has always found himself quite fascinated by, having spent countless night's watching as he went about filling various orders. It was in fact the job the man did, or at least one of the materials he works with, that gave Mithril his name, that being the job of a black smith. While his father had gone through the academy, graduated on time, and even progressed to the point of becoming an Ars Lillium, he stopped his training there so that he could take over the family business from his father. Never once in all his years could Mithril recall the man ever complaining over the circumstances in which he inherited the forge either, instead dubbing it a 'fortuitous event' since it wasn't long after that the little bundle of joy that was Mithril ended up on his porch step.
His mother is always in the back of Mithril's mind, a curiosity more then anything else, but never has he met her and never has his father ever really said much about her other then the fact that she was a 'complicated' woman. He picked up pretty quickly due to his father's expressions alone that she wasn't a topic that he relished going into and as such after a few attempts here and there to learn about her he gave up. He still finds himself imagining what she might be like from time to time, what made her 'complicated' and if he might ever meet her or not. A childish sort of dream and one that fell by the wayside for the most part as he left childhood... a childhood in which his mononoke features appeared, something that caused his father no end to his pride in his son leading the man to making more then one grand 'you can be anything you want' speech to Mithril. Mithril though seemed content with going to the academy for his basic training before returning home, wanting to learn more about the blacksmith craft, not that his father is having that, wanting to see his son achieve more lofty goals.
The only downside that Mithril has ever seen to his home life, other then being pushed to 'be all that he can be' isn't the heat of the forge or even the long hours his father works, instead it is his father's familiar, Coatl. Not that the creature is bad in and of itself per say. Instead it's merely the fact that it's a snake gives Mithril chills and causes the beast no end to its complaints about 'kids these days' and how Mithril 'lacks the proper respect' and such, acting ever the part of an old man according to his father when he translated for the snake that speaks onto through a mind link with the man while just glaring Mithril down. Often his father uses his familiar to get Mithril to work on further studies, threatening to toss the snake on him if he doesn't do so. While Mithril has no idea if the man will go through with it he has yet to be brave enough to test him or that particular, toe curling threat.

Character Name: Vinteren (norwegian for Winter) Player Name: Byagane319 Race: Mononoke, Ermine Aspirations: Vin dreams of joining the reapers, later the blackhearts, and delivering the cold hand of death to all witch eaters. Personality: Vin enjoys cooler weather, getting overheated quickly during the summer. He prefers staying indoors when it is too hot, venturing out during the night until fall and winter arrives. In fact he adores the night-time since he can move through the streets without too many people staring at his very white appearance. He becomes sensitive when the topic is brought up; he sometimes doesn't even feel all that human due to the bestial appearance he feels he has. It can make him distant and very quiet. He has a love for shiny things which he likes to make into necklaces, he always has one with him. His small apartment near the school has shelves filled with different things he's found while walking around or in shops. Vin normally has a very neutral look upon the world at large, seeing both sides of an argument and attempting to reach a mutual agreement. Jarren had taught him that everything has a consequence in nature so one must always look for an answer that benefits both sides. He is an excellent arbitrator when it comes to disputes and will not take sides lightly. Even if he does he will attempt to be a voice of reason and agreement. This leads to more than a few people saying he always tries to weasel out of an argument by giving up something to get something else. No matter what they say he believes in the balance of nature, that all things should benefit each other in ways sometimes not even seen. But deep down there is one thing that Vin cannot and will not make an excuse for or find balance in understand. He hates witch eaters with an absolute passion. The memories of his parents' deaths, seeing his mother killed by one, is still living in his memories. Sometimes it comes back to him in a nightmare. This is the only time Vin will speak very negatively about anything. He will attack them on sight, with no reservations, and with a blood thirsty zeal to it. He wants them to suffer and they will die. He doesn't care how big or powerful they are, witch eaters deserve nothing but death. He hides this part of himself from almost everyone, refusing to even talk about the subject unless forced. Short Biography/background: Vin was the only child of a magical family who lived close to the forest edge. His father was a wood-cutter who used transmutation power and his mother was a weaver with enchantment abilities. They lived a simple but happy life, looking forward to the day their son would discover his magical talents, each hoping he showed talent in one of theirs. But sadly they would never see their son's talent. It was the dead of winter and Vin had been to town to buy some supplies. Upon returning home , Vin discovered his parents' home ablaze. His father lay dead at the front of the house. He heard a horrible scream come from around the back, his mother's voice crying out. He ran around to see a horrible witch eater, like some monstrous creature devour his mother's witch heart then kill her. The witch eater turned and saw the small boy, then smiled malevolently. Vin was at first frozen to the spot, fear swimming his heart. He felt like he was getting smaller and smaller as the witch eater approached. That's when he realised he WAS getting smaller. The witch eater was momentarily surprised by the sudden change in his target. Sleek and fast, Vin had become a snow white stoat with a black tipped tail. It was this realization that made him move and move fast. He ran for the forest, the only place he could think of to hide from his pursuer. He found a small tunnel and curled up inside it until the witch eater gave up and moved on. Vin came back out, the sudden fear and sadness of suddenly being alone made him cry. But his cries were heard by a druid whom had lived alone in the forest for years. He had avoided the family, seeking solitude. But the appearance of the witch eater had drawn him out to make sure his forest was safe. It was he, Jarren, that found little Vin curled up by his father's body crying. At first the druid was confused as to why a weasel would cry so, then Vin transformed back into his small boy form. Though now his ears and tail were quite prominent and it seemed his nails were now sharp claws. Jarren would have just taken him into town and dropped him off to let them deal with him but the boy's affinity for shapeshifting gave him pause. He hadn't seen a shapeshifter that took so much of the animal's shape with him when in human form. Even the boy's skin was now as white as the stoat's coat. He offered to take Vin to live with him in the forest until he was old enough to enter the academy. Having no one else to go to, Vin agreed. The two lived alone in the forest, with Vin only visiting town when he had to get some things for Jarren. He showed promise in magic but the druid was unable to help him learn more beyond the basics. Finally Vin was old enough to enter the academy and passed with flying colors. But there he saw others who had been hurt by the witch eaters, a hatred began to burn in him despite the neutral teachings of Jarren. It was after graduating that he resolved to become a reaper and rid the world of as many Witch Eaters as he could. And maybe find the one that killed his parents.
