TG was outside dodging interviewers and taking Annabel for a walk. He'd been watching updates on the Trials, but he really didn't get what all the hype was about. Still, newspaper read and muck-us-latte drank, he walked with his most adored cockatrice down the walk. She didn't wear a leash. Annabel would have hissed if anyone suggested one, and TG did not insult her. Instead, she only wore her firestone studded collar and walked, her snake tails looking about, mouths open and tongues flickering. However, the fowl was very annoyed, and TG was sharing a similar expression.
He brought the Cycorgi, a mandatory "homework" assignment that he doubted he could return. The pup was excitable, but had been whining ALL DAMN MORNING to go outside. It was on a leash, tugging at his arm and nearly pulling the small imp down the walk.
He hated dogs. Birds would never cause him this sort of migraine.

Endzela napped upon Kettil's shoulder her head tucked down as if to hide herself from the pumpkin sun. The Owl often stated in a grumble how unnatural it seemed for them both to be up and about during the day but sometimes, just sometimes, Kettil couldn't help it. Stores were only open at certain times. Classes only happened at certain times.
His hands were figuratively tied.
As he walked along Endzela suddenly woke up and perked up her eyes zooming in on the cockatrice and soon Kettil looked as well pausing only a little before he murmured something to his familiar and suddenly the owl was disappointed. No snacks for Owl.
As Kettil watched something new caught his attention as he beheld the imp with a canine on a leash as if it was trying to run off with him and the Muut tilted his head to the side, "Need some help?"

TG looked up...and up...and up. The turn of the head nearly had his horns touching back to the ground until a sharp yank caused him to whip his head back and hold the leash with both arms. The Cycorgi was digging it's white paws and TRYING to get to the trees in the distance. Then it noticed that someone else was here, and stopped, turned, saw a new boil, and ran over to his feet, barking and sniffing his shoes.
This allowed TG a moment to breath, and not one very experienced in physically doing...anything, this tedious dog walking Panting, he offering him the leash. "Yeah. Take this and lead if off a cliff." Maybe this carriage idea was a bad idea.

He kneeled down a bit to pet the dog that was now barking and sniffing at him his Owl spread her wings and made her way to the ground nearby staring at the creature, "Can I eat this?" Endzela asked somewhat curiously.
Kettil glanced at imp and then at Endzela, "No, Endy. I doubt that'd be wise. Plus it looks bigger than what you usually eat," he said simply and then looked at the imp though he took the leash for now to give the smaller boil a bit of a reprieve in case the dog got a bit overly excited again, "Mmm I think it'd probably survive to spite everyone involved if I did that," he laughed cheerfully.
Endzela looked sulky as she stared at everyone.

Annabel, while not gifted with speech, expressed herself accordingly. She regarded the Owl a moment, sizing it up and down, ruffled her feathers, sleeked then down, and stayed where she stood. She wasn't sure of the Owl yet, but she wasn't hissing. This was a big thing. TG reached out to stroke her neck with his claws to assure her that she was prettier than the Owl. She closed her eyes a moment.
Done petting, TG watched the dog yip about and then noticing that everyone was standing, sit down and pant, sending waves of dog breath as it dripped like a leaky faucet from it's massive tongue.
"It would." He agreed, staring at the mutt as if it would do everything in it's power to live. Luck tended to favor the stupid, and this dog could wind any gamble with it's IQ.
He looked at the Owl with a smile. "You can eat better. Actually hoping it gets bigger." Though hopefully trained before it got larger.
Looking back at the boil, he noticed he didn't looked like a monster or ghost. Not even undead. This narrowed it down to more favorable company in TG's book. "Well, Endy. I seem to know your name. I'm TG. You are?" He looked to the boil. "Someone with a clear taste for companions."

Kettil chuckled a bit as he rubbed behind the canine's ear gently. It was a good dog for the most part - he'd seen and heard of worse animals in the world, "At least it isn't viciously trying to attack you or anything. It seems friendly enough, maybe you need to motivate the critter," he said trying to be helpful.
Endzela spread her wings a bit and then began to preen one of them diligently for the moment ignoring the cockatrice within her vicinity. If she wasn't allowed to eat the creature then she wasn't going to pay it a whole lot of mind, "Oh I suppose there are better things to eat. Oh! My full name is Endzela, it is much more graceful~, but you may call me Endy if you please."
The Reaper laughed at his Familiar and then shook his head, "I'm Kettil, I was just about to head back to the dorms when I saw your furry friend here tuggin' you about."

"It's too distracted right now to attack. It's been tearing everything in my room not to mention drooling." To which the Cycorgi continued to pant, tongue dripping and looking up at Kettil as if to say 'Who me?'
TG returned to admiring a far better pet. "Endzela is a very nice name. I'm sure you'd win in a show. Annabel does well in them." To which the cockatrice stopped her preening to raise her head proudly, moving to stand beside the imp.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kettil." To which the imp offered his claw in a handshake. Had a bird pet. Clearly a reaper. Best to make an acquaintance with.

"Well I hear short bursts of negative sound help 'correct' behaviors in a canine. Like a short little shouting sound at them and most of them will back off...Just can't over use it or else they think you're just bein' weird for the sake of bein' weird." Kettil observed, "Could also use treats he likes every time he does something you approve of, y'know? They like praise."
Sometimes it helped being around animals all the time.
Endzela let out a small giggle, "Thank you! I never really considered asking to be put in a show. Surely Familiars wouldn't be allowed to partake?" The Owl's head tilted slightly.
Kettil shook hands with the imp without hesitation, "Pleased to meet'chya, TG. Here I am offerin' advice and you didn't even ask me for a word of it," the boil laughed.

"I've tried shouting." He said flatly to the Reaper. A lot of shouting actually, but it only caused the mutt to look up and bound over. Treats seemed a waste, but if it was the only way to get to an idiot's level, then he'd have to resort to those tactics. "I guess I could do treats." He watched the Cycorgi beside Ketil start sniffing his shoes for something interesting before pulling on the leash to investigate the Reaper's Familiar.
Endzela's question had him considering. "I haven't checked on Familiars. They might have a specific way for contests. There is always completion for everything. There is bound to be one." Competitions were ways to prove you were or owned the best, and bragging rights came with a nice price tag. There was always someone around who managed to see a market and make one for that reason.
"I don't mind advice. My choice to take it. Shows confidence." His fathers were packed with advice and for that reason, he usually saw no reason to take anyone else's - but he doubted his fathers had advice on Cycorgi training.

"Well he might think that's just you being you by this point if you do it often enough. They have that special ability to tune stuff like that out if you do it often enough," Kettil said thoughtfully with a bit of a shrug. The Reaper watched the Cycorgi as it sniffed about and even tried to check out his Owl which Endzela even hedge closer and offered a wing in a good natured way. "As far as treats go...Be sure to only give them when he does what you want him do and after a while try not giving him a treat at all when he follows commands so he doesn't expect them for doing the right thing. Sometimes if you act like you're having fun and really excited they react well to that too. For a pup it is like everything is a game then~."
Endzela seemed thoughtful at the Imp's words and gave a small hooting sound, "Maybe we'll look into it~," she said in a chipper tone.
Kettil grinned a little, "Very good point, my friend. I'll just apologize in advance if you try it and it fails."

The Cycorgi was mesmerized by the wind, and once it drew near, it's butt shook as it wagged as it's tongue stretched out to drench as much of the feathers in it's own slobber as it could. If Endzela wasn't careful, she's be turning soggy very soon.
Not liking the idea of all the work for such little return, he regarded the mutt. Would it be more efficient to let the mutt loose and someone else to take care of it, cutting his losses in time and effort here before it cost him more, or should he continue investing? If he could get the mutt to pull a cart with care and control, he'd be able to spend that time not walking or getting exhausted as he moved around this campus.
Numbers dashed through his mind as he stroked his chin. "What if you train it? I could pay you." He really didn't want to take all this time with a creature he didn't like to get work done.

Endzela let out a light 'euugh' sound and took a moment to shake out before she took flight just enough to get onto her Reaper's shoulder rather than be in licking distance much longer eyeballing the canine carefully.
Kettil paused a little at the suggestion and it seemed the Muut was making a few calculations of his own as if pondering the risks and rewards for this sort of task rather carefully, "I dunno, pal, we might be takin' a high risk if we do that. I mean what if it won't listen to you at all then no matter how well I train it?"
Still the boil took a small piece of jerky from one of his pouches and offered it to the cycorgi to see if it would be something the creature would enjoy.

TG watched as the Cycorgi sniffed at Kettil and then lapped up the treat offered, chewing on it as little as necessary before swallowing it, hacking, and then swallowing again. After nearly choking on the treat, it went back to panting and sniffing around again for treats now that it knew that Kettil was hiding them.
A risk, huh? The Cycorgi was probably not bright enough to understand commands from two masters, and Kettil was clearly not looking like he wanted to adopt. "Hmmm. I guess I'll have to just stick to treats." He really wished he had an already trained minipet. If he was ever given a pet, it would have already been well-behaved from a breeder. This creature was just some mutt that came from a box and unloaded on him unfairly from his teacher.
