Name: Syn Solari Age: 15 Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Straight Craft/Rank: Candidate/Beastcraft History: Syn Solari was born in late spring 15 Turns ago. Ever since she could remember, Syn has been fascinated by the dragons and their riders. Her parents used to tell her stories about her Uncle when she was little. They also told her that he used to come visit her often and even took her to meet his dragon. Syn was too young to remember him then. However, her first memory is that of meeting his dragon. Her Uncle doesn’t stand out much in her mind, but the dragon, she’ll always remember him. He was a big bronze with kind eyes. The eyes are her main memory, the clearest part of her past.
Before Syn was born, her parents traveled from Telgar Hold to Atlini Hold. They used to be traders but settled to raise Bovine for Trine Weyr. Before Syn was searched at the age of 12, she spent her days helping her family on the farm. She has Two older brothers. One 18 and the other 21. She isn't very close to either of her brothers due to their age differences, but she still loves them and tries to keep in touch. When she was about 8 years old she received a bite on her ankle from a wild dog while she was out in the forest. The bite was deep but healed up well enough. Occasionally the ankle gives her a bit of pain, but nothing that really affects her physically. However, if she can, Syn avoids dogs as well as she can now. While she was living in the Hold, she didn't have much time for lessons and most of the studying that she did was with whatever books she could get a hold of. After she was searched, Syn lived in the Weyr, studied, and did her chores with the other Candidates.
Once Syn was old enough to read, she managed to get her hands on any books that she could find about dragons. She wasn’t very good at reading, and neither were her parents. However, she managed to work out the words for herself. She also found that if she came across some that she did not know, others were always quite happy and willing to help her piece the rest of them together. The girl prides herself on her reading capabilities and continues to read anything that she can get a hold of.
Description:She has light Auburn hair that falls in waves a little past her shoulders. Her eyes are a gray color with a hint of blue. Even though Syn is 15 she looks to be about 12, her round ‘baby’ face gives her the younger appearance. Her skin is fairly lighter than most, her parents being native to the north, but she the sun has darkened her skin a bit more. She’s fairly tall for her age and is a relatively average weight. She has a little bit of muscle and enough fat to keep her from looking like a twig but without being overweight. She’ll likely be about 5’8 when fully grown.
Personality:On a typical day, Syn helps her parents out with the livestock, doing anything that she can to help pull her weight around Weyr. She understands that a community can’t be run by just a few people. However, she can be a bit lazy and when she gets the chance, she’ll sneak off to read or grab a nap.
When interacting with her peers, Syn can be a bit of a story teller. She likes the way that the other children listen to every word that she says and so she’s continued on with her ‘stories’. She also a pushover and finds herself giving into others too easily. This is usually because she prefers to avoid confrontation and can be a bit of a coward when confrontation occurs. If it comes to a fight, Syn will usually look for a way out of it before standing her ground. However, Syn is very loyal, especially to her close friends and family. Currently she has some internal conflict, she wants to stand up for her friends but her cowardliness prevents this. For now she will stick up for her friends but most likely won't be the first to say/do anything. (Over time I would like her to work on standing up for herself and others. It will take a lot of plotting to get over some of her issues and perhaps if she impresses, her dragon can help her with this.) She can also be quite gullible. If you tell Syn something, she'll likely believe it without much question. She will also likely repeat it to someone else as well as she can be something of a gossip. When someone asks for her opinion she’ll give her honest response, wanted or not. When she gets nervous, you can see her fidgeting quite a bit. Usually she’ll wring her hands, twiddle her thumbs, or touch her hair/face.
Generally, Syn is seen as a rather sweet girl, if not a bit plain, by most. She minds her manners and listens to her elders as well. She will also take in any unwanted/hurt animal and nurse them back to health before releasing it to the wild or finding it a new home. If you can get over her bluntness, she’s a good companion and listener. Syn is also very creative. Having worked around the farm and helping her parents and siblings out, Syn wasn't left with a lot of time for socializing. Until she came to the Weyr she didn't have very many friends and didn't spend much time with other children. When she did have free time at home, she spent it reading. Her lack of socialization has left Syn rather socially awkward. She also yearns to please others and try to do her best. If she doesn’t impress, she will likely go into the crafting guild. Other: Syn loves to listen to melodies and often hums along to her work without noticing. She’s particularly fond of harp and flute music and music without any actual words to accompany it. She finds the melodies soothing and music often boosts her mood.
Being rather unbalanced, Syn often avoids playing games or sports with the other children of the Weyr. Her balance causes a few mishaps due to clumsiness and awkwardness. With her long legs, she can sprint and run a good distance, although she can’t keep it up long and isn’t any good at marathons. She can typically outrace most over short distances however. She has also built up a bit of muscle while working around the Weyr, this has enabled her to pick up large sacks of flower, haul grain and heavy buckets of water around, and do other chores with a bit of ease.
Syn’s biggest fear is that she won’t impress. However, she is actually fairly afraid of impressing as well. She has a fear of heights and is terrified that she won’t be able to get over that when she needs to fly with her dragon. However, this is an easily fixed fear and is more of nerves on her part. Syn has never actually been up in the sky and her fear is more a fear of the unknown. She is also terrified of dark places.

I would personally suggest expanding her history - it's hard to tell if she's a Weyrbrat or if she's been searched. Beyond her early childhood, she's surely done things and at the very least been Searched! Describe some more about her background.
Her personality lacks flaws. She's 'too nice' but everybody's not all good and not all bad. Is she cowardly, is that why she's a push over? Is she exceptionally gullible? Perhaps a combination of the two? Try to give her more flaws and round out the character that way.

Okay I can do that. ^.^ She's a Weyrbrat, her parents kind of traveled down to Trine (I need to double check the actual map and make sure I have things right there.) I have a few more flaws for her but had a hard time getting them in without sounding repetitive, I'll see what I can do to squeeze them in, come up with a few more.

Okay fixed this up a bit. I think I'll go ahead and officially post it. I didn't like quite how sweet her character was becoming, it wasn't what I had first envisioned for her. I tried to fix that up a little as well. I also changed her to being searched, I feel that fits a little better for her history and I get the feeling that most farmers and such likely live outside of the Weyr? Although I didn't see much information on that in the guides.
Still open to suggestions though ^.^

Sorry, I got distracted with building a Soil Water Model. xD
As for Farmers - yes, they live mostly outside the Weyr. As it's a ground-level Weyr (rather then being dug into rock like the others), they aren't that far away. Beastcrafters will live close to the herds they're tending generally.
