General debriefing: Children have been reported missing for a continuous span of two weeks recurring in Salou, Spain at the PortAventura Resort. Witnesses claim that they have seen them last at various attractions in the area, though their bodies have yet to be found. Dispose of whatever is kidnapping the children and rescue the children if possible.
* C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee)
MECHANICS

* MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 3A. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a HALLOWEEN ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics.
1- 20: You and your group have snuck into the theme park after hours, but you don't see anything out of the ordinary.
21 - 40: You notice that even though the rides and displays should have been turned off, there is the strange echo of music, and odd flickering lights from the corner of your eyes.
41 - 60: You stumble for a second, as if someone, one of your teammates have shoved you, but when you look around, you notice that there is noone else in sight.
61 - 80: You noticed engraved onto a display next to you an odd symbol, a strange spiral that rotates backwards in a hooked arc.
81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER:
- In the darkness, it seems easier to spot the poltergeist, though its form occasionally flickers in and out. It realizes that your team is by far friendly, and begans to throw various objects at you.
- BOSS MECHANICS: This boss has 50 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. The poltergeist reveals at the very end that these children have already been taken.

* 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Clerise had, after much deliberation, decided to opt in for another External Mission.

The last one may have been utterly disastrous, but it was better than sitting at home (it was sad, really, how fast her dorm room had become that) and waiting for the world to end.

Metaphorically speaking, that is.

She waited by the portal, texting the others that had also volunteered for the mission. Clerise ignored the fact that the only reason that she was a little early was because she hadn't gotten back to sleep after her latest nightmare.

Sasha had her serious business face on.

As she approached the portal, that serious business face broke out into a huge smile when she caught sight of Clerise. Her step quickened until she was close enough to draw the other woman in close for a sisterly hug.

"Clerise! I'm so happy to see you." Sasha's brows furrowed as she took in the sight of the redheaded woman. Clerise looked worn out. She looked ... off.

"Is everything okay, Clerise? I mean." Her mouth pinched a bit. "You look... tired."

Rep dimly registered the beeping of his phone.

It took him a while before he actually moved to pick it up, giving it the bleariest look. He hadn't been sleeping, he'd just been lying in the dark, waiting like some kind of creature for when he could go to the gym and train. He was maybe expecting some kind of notice that something or other was out of commission. Like the toilets or something, given the facilities track record of utilities so far.

His stomach sunk as he realised one of the missions he'd put through for before the failed mission looked like it had come through. Fantastic. And he had a reminder text, he couldn't even say he'd missed it.

He didn't even bother brushing his hair, just threw on his clothes and dragged himself to the portal giving Clerise a frazzled look.

"Morning."

Marcus had woken up and with his curtains shut he didn't really realize no, it wasn't 3 am. He was safe fomr a hell mission. Once he did realize he was safe however, and that it was morning, he sent another text
Quote:

Ah well. Getting dressed, grabbing some breakfast for the road (and anyone who might have missed it), he grabbed his mission kit as well. Getting to the portal he waved up until he realized Rep was in the party. If the man could put aside his bigotry Marcus might be impressed. "Morning. Clerise, Sasha...Rep."
He gave the man a blank look. "You guys all eat and grab any runic weapons you have clearance for?" He motioned to the barrier daggers at his belt. "I'm ready to go in any event."

Clerise texted Marcus bcak with a fury in her fingers:
to marcus
oh my god yes you do you signed up for it didnt you did you forget

Her irritation was soothed by a certain raven-haired girl wandering in.

"You're a sight for sore eyes," Clerise murmured into Sasha's hair, kissing her temple sweetly, glad to have her presence. Even if it did mean she was going to be rather distressed if...anything happened.

On second thought, it was a terrible idea that Sasha was coming along. "Just couldn't sleep, don't worry your pretty little head about me--"

Rep wandered in like a zombie. "Morning, sunshine," she said with a laugh, pulling away to just have her arm slung around Sasha's shoulder. "I think we need to get some ******** caffeine the moment we get there."

She raised her hand to wave at Marcus. "Ugh. I don't have any, soo..." Clerise looked at them all--

and went through the portal.

Sasha gave Rep a look - a scrunching of her lips and nose - and Marcus a small wave before she followed Clerise through the portal. Maybe they'd have a moment for her to approach Rep and give him a pat on the shoulder or a little hug or something.

Just in case he needed one. He kind of looked like he did.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 26, 2012 11:06 pm

He could not have looked more depressed as Marcus arrived. Things never ended well with the other guy around, and he was too tired to even pretend to be friendly, shooting him a bleary glare. Who the hell had the time to eat before a mission? Clearly someone who wasn't him and didn't value sleep as much as he did. Or as the case was of late, ceiling staring time.

Sasha got a small share of the Marcus glare until he realised it was like glaring at a puppy and a waste of effort and gave her a smarmy smirk instead.

But he didn't say anything to anyone before wandering into the portal, on the other side stating.

"Right. Where the ******** are we this time?"

The moon trainee rolled his eyes at Rep, following behind them. He figured having them go in with no runic weapons- well, he hoped nothing deadly would show but who was he kidding. Caelius was hoping they would go through a culling process Marcus bet. 'Let them kill themselves' or something.

The other side of the portal, Marcus rolled his eyes. "Please...just tell me you read the report Rep. Please." Kids were missing and there were no bodies. The kids might still be alive and damn it Rep. This was why you read the mission reports.

"Clerise, you set this up, as far as I am concerned, you're team captain for this outing, rank aside."

Clerise cackled with glee as they hit the streets of Spain, stars in her eyes. She conveniently overlooked the fact that Rep didn't get along with anyone save for her (and that was rocky at best, in an alliance partially forged from the mutual experience of trauma), and gave the team a wicked glance.

Except for Sasha, who just got calloused fingers slipping into dainty ones as Clerise observed their surroundings...Of course it would be dark, with the park already closed.

"There goes the coffee idea," Clerise muttered with legitimate depression in her voice-- and then froze when Marcus told her she was in charge. The last time a trainee had been in charge on a mission...

Things had happened. Rather unfortunate things she was not looking to reproduce.

"Well." Clerise glanced at Marcus, who was obviously still all kinds of out of sorts from his engagements from the night before-- after all, she knew a hickey when she saw one. Rep, on the other hand, looked about as bad as she knew she did-- and it hit her how amazing and a little terrifying it was that Sasha, of all people, was probably in the best state of mind out of the whole group.

God save them.

Okay, Clerise Nicole. Time to put your big girl panties on and...Not lead the team to a horrible fate. Totally easy. No big deal. Not even any big thing--

"All you ******** get to follow me, then, and there won't be any damn bitching about it. I want to follow the park along its left side, make a full circle. After that, we can hit anything in the middle we may have missed."

That was easy enough. Clerise released Sasha's hand from her own, looking around for a sign of what they'd encounter first. Even on the first one letting the group know that they were wandering through Mediterrània, there was a familiar spiral carved into it.

Clerise, having seen this symbol on both of her prior external missions, took the chance to snap a photo of it with her phone. "These ******** symbols again? Christ."

Rep shot Marcus a dirty look. He may or may not have read the report. Most likely may NOT have. He normally would have at least checked it over but in his current condition, most of the things he intended to do fell vaguely by the wayside. It wasn't a good start to his resolution to stick firmly to the rules from here on out. "None of your business if I read the ******** reports or not." Because yeah, going on the offensive was always a good idea. "Maybe I was asking to see if we were all on the same page or some s**t."

He was actually almost relieved to hear that Marcus was willing to defer to Clerise on this one, he wasn't sure how well he could have handled having to submit to the other man's orders.

Spain at least was familiar to him. He'd been to Ibiza and the like a few times for rave benders with his friends back in his teens and the night time air felt and smelled so familiar that for just a moment in his sleep deprived state he could almost imagine he was back there rather than looking for monsters with a ragtag bunch of hunters. The signage grounded him properly. Port Aventura. He remembered reading about this place when they were looking for places to go.

It was depressing that all these theme park missions were at night. At least the last one had gotten him some candy floss, this one had better live up to those high standards, he thought.

He was happy to follow Clerise distantly until she spotted the sign, his stomach suddenly twisting and filled with the urge to panic. He summoned Tracey, before realising what a nervous wreck he had to look in doing so and quickly dismissed him.

Only for some ******** to shove him for it. "The ********?" he snarled furiously, turning on his heel to give what he expected to be Marcus a rant, only to blink and frown as no one was even there. Oh god, this was it really, he was going ******** crazy.

While the environment was completely different from the theme park she'd been to previously, it was pretty obvious that this was indeed a theme park. It was the second time Sasha had been to a theme park. It was just as creepy this time as it had been last time, especially since it was dark.

And they had snuck into it. It was also after hours. Sasha was very observant.

So when Clerise mentioned the symbol on the sign, Sasha gave the woman a worried look. "What does it mean? I didn't see any at the last mission I went on." Sasha looked apologetic but didn't deign it necessary to mention that this was only the second mission she'd been a part of.

When Rep seemed to trip, Sasha's worried look transferred to him.

"Are you okay?"

Well, Clerise in control could end up terrible or not but oh well. Marcus had his things which to him meant thing might be okay. Less chance of getting caught unawares. Rep's reply just got an eyes roll and- "In the future Rep, if helps to confirm information prior to going on site. Less time lost. Unless you're Caelius and like to keep everyone in the dark." Sad but true, he doubted the death lead would ever tell them what they needed to know.
The theme park was closed for the night and Marcus was thankful for it. Civilian clothes they had not. He didn't pause at Clerise's plan either, it made sense. Following he frowned at the symbol she pointed out. "Knowing what we do know, it's from those horsemen." He pulled Dis into his hand. Not yet summoned, but ready.

Something at the small of his back pushing him forward with force. Knee jerk reaction, and Dis was suddenly in his hand, blue marking glowing. Nothing. to far to have been pushed so. "Something tells me it'll be a good time to go on alert."

She would show them, the rest of her clan. The title of outcast stung more than a quick, swift death, the fact that her Queen had elected this title on her even more so.

Outcast, thrown away, discarded, for a simple matter alone: because she had disobeyed. But despite her protests, despite her insistence that she could still fight, they no longer wanted her. They used her and threw her away.

No, no no no. This was not over yet. She would still fight, she could still fight, she was from the Clan of War, and she would prove her worth back to them. Tear. Rip. Shred.

Kill.

At first her new home, her new hunting grounds was easy pickings: mere humans locked in a moment of pure terror as she descended upon them. Then, she smelled it, the sense of something else, another creature of Fear. The new presence had made her angry, someone else going after her prey, prey that she had painstakingly fought to find. No, no no, it was hers.

The spectre did not even stand a chance as she descended upon it, a mere flicker of broken feathers and tattered red cloth. They didn't dissipate, oh no, that would be too easy, she weakened them first, let their Fear begin to lose form, lose the ability to stabilize-

- And then went in for the kill.

Some would claim it was about the Fear. Harvesting the Fear, becoming stronger through Fear, being one as a colony. They were stupid, they were blind. It wasn't about Fear, it was about breaking breaking new toys. It was about being stronger, better, than everyone else. It was about hunting, stalking, chasing them until they yielded.

It was about the moment when they looked into her eyes and lost all semblance of hope. She licked her lips, dirtied wing feathers rustling, for a second, betraying her presence to any who had entered her hunting grounds. There were some new intruders here, oh she could feel them, sense them, taste them, taste that moment, but she would wait. She wanted to see which one was the greatest fighter.

And she would break their spirit first.

OOC

- Someone is watching the trainees. Perhaps their weapons can feel it, a flicker of powerful Fear, but they cannot place where it is coming from at that time.
- Occasionally, as the trainees search around, they will see black feathers scattered on the ground, but where are they coming from?

"Like Marcus said, it means horsemen. You remember the ...lair with Sandy and Barney?"

Clerise did not further elaborate. However, Balthazar took the opportunity to express his displeasure. It rolls over her like a wave, seeping into the porous marrow of her bones.

{[ Keep moving, ]} is hissed to her like metal grinding in her ears, his urgency uncharacteristic. He doesn't deign to share why. Clerise assumes it's paranoia.

"Give it a rest, Enrique, Rep" she playfulness, poking them each in the belly successively. Clerise is tired of hearing the bitching already-- she'd forgotten that they didn't exactly...get along.

Peering into the window of a nearby cafe, Clerise grimaced as the engraved spiral in the glass caught the moonlight.

"There's a fair amount of these ******** things, too." She snapped another photograph.

A few ebony feathers were at her feet, but Balthazar noticed them, not her.
