It had been a long day. Explaining the world of gods and the oddities of the Pantheon was no easy feat. Still, she had managed to get their guests settled. Eir within Ankou's rooms and her followers within hers. They seemed happy and comfortable enough.
Cosine herself had stayed within her own rooms. She had missed their cool airy feel and the bright colours of patterned tiles in the glass roofed atrium. She had also decided it was rather fun to let Ankou think she was in a mood with him.
With everyone settled she had retreated to the calming atmosphere of her high ceilinged bedroom. The goddess stood in front of a mirror, removing bits of leaf that had become tangled in her hair on the walk home as she waited for the bath to fill with hot water.
She had enjoyed wandering but she did like her home comforts.

 Yep. Ankou was perfectly convinced that Cosine was pissed off at him. There was only so long that he could focus on Eir - the girl was quickly led to a spare room and fell asleep just as quickly, and that, along with keeping a curious pair, consisting of Hrist and Jinx at bay, was about all that he could do for her at the moment.
Along this came one startling realization - he still heard them. They sounded even further away now, more muffled, but he still heard those souls back on Kurakami, who were apparently confused with his sudden vanishing.
Well. That was new. Through he had slightly more important matters to deal with at the moment, which lead him to knock at the door that linked his own rooms to Cosine's.
Hopefully they could talk now...

"Coming." Zero muttered, as she wandered from her room to the door, she opened it and glanced out into the hallway. No one there. She closed the door and looked to the one to her left. Oops, other door. Opening it slowly she blinked as she saw the Spirit Guide on the other side.
"You don't need to knock I'm sure." She said, stepping back from the door. "She's in her rooms." She pointed across the tiled atrium to a set of double doors.

Oh, if only the poor aoide knew. Well, there was no need to bother her with that, really. He'd made a fool of himself publicly once today, and that was enough.
"Force of habit, most likely." Well, that was a believable excuse. "Thank you, Zero." He gave a nod to the aoide and headed toward Cosine's room, stopping short.
Erm. "Can I come in ?"
Hey, at least he did not knock this time ?

 Cosine ran a brush through her hair and smiled at the sound of the rather sheepish voice coming from the other side of her doors. She placed the brush on the dresser and went to turn the taps off in the bathroom. He was so silly, she decided as she crossed the airy room and opened the door.
"Maybe." Her tone was teasing and there was a smile on her lips as she leaned against the door frame.

...Maybe yes or maybe no ? Well, she did not look mad, not anymore at least.
Why did things like this always have to be so confusing ? "I... did not mean to do that. Earlier."
Well, that was true ! Really, this was strange... Was the spear affecting his mana this way, or... was it something he's always been capable of, but had never bothered to notice ?
But right now those calls went unanswered, and he offered Cosine a sheepish smile instead.

It was the sheepish smile that did it, broke her idea to play at being mad. It was silly really, though maybe she had been a little afraid that he was growing distant.
"Ahh there you are." She said, standing up straight. "I thought I had lost you for a moment there." Cosine reached out to take his collar in her hand and tugged him closer so that she could plant a kiss on his cool lips. "You may come in."

Definitively.
He lingered in the kiss for as long as she allowed it before following her inside. "What, did you think you could get rid of me that easily ?" He teased, through the lines of concern where evident in his expression, if one knew where to look.
Had she thought... ?

"Well, if you'd have kept acting so aloof I think I might have considered it." She smiled and looked back at him, though like him she was not entirely confident of the situation.
"What happened? I know to the mortals it must have seemed trivial but to me ... it just wasn't like you to be so distant with me. You have been since we saw Gungnir."

He had not even noticed any of that - him being distant... But the more he thought about it, the more it made sense.
"It... Well." As per usual, he seemed to get stuck on how exactly to word himself, but seemed to give up soon enough. Better to have it confusing than not say anything at all.
"There were souls. I could hear them, but I could not tell where they were. I was trying to find where they were." He admitted. "I... can still hear them, actually, even worlds away. This has never happened before..."
That, or he'd overlooked it. Did it not make sense that he could hear especially strong souls calling for him, specifically ? And yet... Something about it all felt strange, different than it had always been.
"I did not want to extend the journey back by looking for them... Eir needed the rest. If I had gone somewhere, she would have wanted to follow me." Ankou continued, once again sheepish.
"And I..." He sighed. "...I chained myself to my duty before, in a way. Became that duty, and overlooked that I was also an individual. I hope I can avoid that, this time around." The admission was an hard one, and it showed. Had she been anyone else, Ankou most likely would have kept that to himself.

Cosine listened carefully to him and moved a little closer, smiling. He was always thoughtful. Some among the pantheon might call that a weakness but for her it could only be a strength. It took more effort and initiative to think about others.
"You're not that type of god anymore, just as I'm not what I was. I admit I was a little worried about Gungnir, when you took that part of you. I was afraid of what might happen. I feel so close to you, I don't want that to change." She smirked a little. Her old self would find that a weakness she was sure of it. But that was not her. She gave him a small smile, it was hard for her to admit that too. She didn't want him to think she was silly.

"It was really strange." He admitted. Having those memories overtake him, be assaulted by something that was him, and yet... was not, at the same time. It had been alien and familiar all at once.
He secretly hoped she would never feel something like that, as much as he felt... Well. Strange, yes, but better now, in a way.
"I do not want that to change, either... Even if I do wonder how you put up with me." That was strangely genuine. Ankou really did not know how - much like how he had no idea how Echo did the same with Nergal.

Cosine thought about that and looked down at her toes peeking out from under her long dress. It was enevitable.
"I suppose then we shall see." She replied, slowly lifting her eyes to his. "Though I think ... each time we evolve we grow, everything we have learned becomes part of us, or at least that is how it seems for you and I. So ... I believe that if change is on the cards then I don't think you will be much different from now. Wiser maybe?" A smile played on her lips, teasing in her voice. "More organised? In touch with feelings?" She reached out to place a hand on his chest. "I will never just 'put up' with you. I think that is no basis for a relationship. We have been through each change together and nothing has changed between us ... at least I do not think so? I accept you and all your faults. If you accept me and mine?"

"Now, now. Miracles are not easily done, you know." Amusement was thick in his own tone. The idea of him being good with feelings of all things was... well. Downright laughable.
She was right, through, right and logical as she often was. He admired that in her, her ability to look at things calmly like this. They had gone though hell and high water together, had weathered all the storms that had been thrown their way so far.
And they would continue to do so.
"Of course I do." He took the hand resting on his chest tenderly and lifted it, leaving a kiss onto it.

She smiled at the kiss to her hand and stepped a little closer. It seemed like an age since it had been just the two of them with nothing pressing to be dealt with. She knew their time together was precious and she did not want it all to be so full of worry.
"Enough melancholy. Let's talk of other things." Cosine reached up and plucked a leaf from his hair.
"I have run a hot bath."
