A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The library seemed much smaller now that he was bigger. In a way, it was. The rows of bookshelves no longer towered him like labyrinth walls, and there was no need for a tag-along aoide to reach the top shelf for him.

Right now he was looking for one specific book, but... in which section had that been ? He could not quite remember, and so had set to wandering, his own notebook tucked against his arm.

No, not here...

Not there either...

...Was that really meant to be there ? Sigh. The wrongly-placed book was grapped and Lament took note of the title, planning to return it where it was meant to be whenever he passed that section. Some people were a little careless, but that could not be helped.

"I don't think we need any of these." Cosine declared. She was stood in her hall of books, arms folded and her eyes fixed on the towering shelves of books. God, she had kept records of the most random things.

Beside her stood a calico cat woman, dressed in a long white robe. she made a note in a notebook.
"Okay so we are erasing the produce and stores inventory. I could move locations to here, as an archive?"

Cosine nodded.
"Yes, that would be much more apropriate."

The pair of voice, one much more familiar than the other, did stop him. Akakios peered out from behind one tall row of shelves, toward Cosine's archives room. Oh, he had not known his aunt was back already !

What were they doing, through ? Curiosity lured him closer, away from his original task. "Cosine ! Hey !" He said, smiling - through the expression remained somewhat melancholic, as it always did. "Did you find what you were looking for ?"

It never dawned on him that the last time he had seen her, he had not grown yet.

User ImageThe voice was an unfamiliar one as was the face of the god that owned it. Cosine smiled politely, they clearly seemed to know her ... though wait, there was some familiarity there.
"Hello." She said, continuing her study, the hair ... wait ... "Kios?" Her eyes widened, surely not? Though, children had to grow not just those trapped within stones.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Uh ? Why was she looking at him like...

Oh. Wait.

Really, this was a little bothersome. He needed to stop forgetting, through thankfully almost everyone knew by now. "Yes. Sorry about that, I... Well, forgot." He admitted, hand reaching up to twirl one braid around his fingers.

...It was odd to be taller than his aunt was !

User ImageAt his apology Cosine laughed and waved a hand dismissively.
"Don't apologise Kios, it happens to us all." She looked him over. "Well, so grown up, your parents must be very proud."

Poor Echo, Cosine could imagine that she had quite the shock when her son turned up no longer a child.
"And to answer you question, yes, I discovered a temple and some followers. Kleo here and I are trying to arrange my archives. Many of these tomes are irrelevant now, though I am not sure quite how to dispose of them."

And his father... He said nothing about that, which was quite telling in itself.

"That's good. Can I go see it, sometime ?" Always that curiosity - it was only wrapped in a bigger package now.

"Hmmm..." He pondered out loud. "Why not relocate them ? The information might still be useful to someone. There are empty bookshelves, still."

And well, he was curious. Of course.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 27, 2012 1:46 pm

User Image"Of course." That curiosity, she had always liked that about the children. Their never ending quest to know more.

His suggestion brought a bigger smile to her lips.
"I like that idea. An archive for the archive?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Why not ? After all, what if you got rid of them, but they turned out important later on ?" He had heard about those records before, a piece of her own past. It might seem superfluous now, but who knew ?

"I am quite sure Endiovar will not mind, but I can ask him when I see him next." In the absence of Gianfar, he was the closest person to ask. At least, that Akakios knew.

Really, he just wanted to read them, mostly. Or at least look at them.

User ImageCosine smiled warmly and looked at the lines of books.
"Kleo, we won't destory them. Pile them in the middle of the hall and I will create an archive listing for them." She really needed to get some more scribes to help with her cataloguing and that of the rest of the library. Cosine looked her nephew over again and smiled warmly.
"Well Kios, I must say growth suits you. Tell me what have you been up to?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Well, actually, Cosine would not need to look too far for help... After all, Akakios had re-copied some of the books in the library, and had enjoyed such an activity.

"Not much, so far." He admitted - uncertain if this was actually a bad thing or not. He should probably be reached out, trying to attract mortals to himself... but he was not entirely certain on how to do that. "I've been spending time with Grace lately." And it was interesting. He liked the conversations they had together. Mortals did tend to shy away from the idea of death, but not her.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 30, 2012 12:41 pm

User Image"Grace, yes, she is quite the unusual mortal." She could see how they would get on well, with her gift. "A future follower perhaps?" Cosine smiled as she suggested it. It seemed that the family had settled quite well within the pantheon.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Well... I do hope so." He admitted. He liked Grace, really, had grown up with her, if one could even call it that. Not so much on her side of the picture, but on his, it was true.

"I think her parents want to leave soon, through. To find the rest of their family." He understood the need for closure - weither they actually found the missing individuals, or had confirmation of their passing. But at the same time, he did not like the thought of them being gone. Especially Grace. He was conflicted, and it was easy to see, even through the veil.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2012 4:24 am

User ImageAt his revelation about Grace's family Cosine's eyes widened.
"Well, we must advise against that." She said thoughtfully. She knew things had stabilized in the worlds outside but they could not garuntee that it would stay that way.
"They should stay within the realms of the pantheon I think for now at least." Like many of the gods she had an awful feeling that the worst was not entirely over yet.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Cosine's reaction was... well, surprising, in it's own way. But sadly, he was not sure it was this simple.

"But closure is also important... I am not sure if closing them off from it will be good, in the long term." They needed to be sure... one way or another. "There is nothing I can do with uncertainty..." If Grace's aunt was dead, them he could have honored her memory, walked them through their grief. But there was no use trying to grieve someone who was still alive.

And while he could hear the dead, listen to them... Well. He had no power over them. He certainly could not tell one soul from another with any real accuracy. That was his father's realm, and his father, well...

...Unless...

"Do you think Ankou might be able to find where someone is ?" Lament asked. It was a stretch, but... If his uncle could bring them confirmation, be it of either way, then maybe they would not need to leave ?
