Was it protest that kept the jikininki away from the trails the Four Clans were hosting, or perhaps simply a sense of dread in the pit of his stomach he just couldn't shake. Whatever the cause, Seiji had stayed away from the spectator stands throughout the whole of the event, despite his friends and ghoulfriend's participation in it all. He'd wandered close at one point, lingered just within hearing range of the crowds, but only stayed a moment or two before making his leisurely way back towards the dorms. From what he could hear, everything sounded like business as usual. Dramatic, hectic, but not overtly life threatening.

All the same, he hoped Junko and the other's were doing alright. The thought was enough to prompt the boil to dig his phone out of his pocket so he could drop the ghoul a quick text.

To Junko
Want to come over later? I'll wait up."

He hit send, tucked the phone back into his pocket, and resumed his walk back to his room. Once there he occupied his time with video game, intent on keeping his mind busy until he heard from his ghoulfriend.

Junko was angry. She was angry at the horsemen for what they put the students through with the last trial, though they did make a very clear point. There had to have been other ways to go about it. There had to have been. She sat in her room staring at herself in the mirror, checking her neck and torso for any marks. None. No scars, no cuts, no threading...she was fine. It had all been a nightmare. A terrible, terrible nightmare. There had to have been another way that didn't involve making the participants think their home had been destroyed and they were being killed. Had any of it even been real? How could she be sure it wasn't a setup? How could any of them be sure...it could have all been scripted.

But that blonde...that blonde b***h. She hoped it wasn't real. That blonde must have just been a product of the horseman's trial. She had to have been.

A text on her phone startled her back to reality and she scrambled for it, dropping the phone a few times before finally managing to pick it up and read the text. Seiji. He was okay. She knew it had all been a bad dream. She knew it. He was okay. He wad fine. He was alive--er, he was as alive as a ghost can be. He was okay. Sighing with relief, Junko flopped back on her bed and closed her eyes. Sayuri, Kuro and Momo all peered over the edge of the bed to watch their owner. She was acting weird being all sad and stuff...what was up with that? It was maybe ten minutes before she felt okay to answer back, picking up the phone to send off a text.

To Seiji
Yes, please! Be there in a bit! <3333

Junko then climbed off her bed to change out of her pajamas, not really caring what she looked like for now as she just tossed on the first kimono she got her hands on, pulled on her stockings and sandals and began to leave. She stopped when she spotted something on her small table, however. Huh? What was that paper? That wasn't there before..

She picked it up, reading it over a moment until realization hit her. Exam authentication. She...

...

Holy...!

No way! Junko ran of the room, the paper clutched tightly in her hand as she ran all the way from the monster dorms to the ghost dorms, nearly tripping on her own hair down the stairs; her hair was long enough now that it dragged behind her on the ground when it wasn't up or moving, but she managed to make it down the stairs and to Seiji's room. She knocked once before letting herself in, panting for breath as she stumbled into the room and doubled over, her hands on her knees and her eyes closed. Why the hell did she run all the way here?! She was not built for running oh my jack her lungs hurt oh jaaaaaaaaack.

It had taken a little longer then Seiji had liked for the return text, but he was happy to see the ghoul answer in the affirmative, assuring him she'd be there soon enough. He was relieved by the response, as he knew he would be, but the slight nagging worry he felt wouldn't leave completely until he had the ghoul in his presence. Call it over protective, call it whatever you liked, but it was true. Junko was his world, and he couldn't help worrying about her, even knowing damn well she was fully capable of taking care of herself. They'd had that talk, a few times now, and capacity for self reliance and protection really wasn't the point. It have only been a school sponsored event, but the track record for those sorts of things was iffy at best.

While he waited for the ghoul to make her way over from the monster dorms the boil busied himself with tidying up his dorm a bit. It wasn't a complete mess, but he had let the general up keep of things slip in the past few weeks. Dirty clothing had not been making its way into the hampers Junko had supplied for him, and had instead been discarded on the floor to be kicked into the various corners of his living quarters. He took his time picking everything up and sorting it by colors into the different baskets, dropping the last pair of black boxers in with the other darks just as the ghoul let herself into the room.

He blinked at her as she stood just beyond the threshold, hands on her knees, struggling to reclaim the breath she'd obviously just lost. "You okay there, Gorgeous?" Had she ran all the way there? That wasn't a Junko sort of thing, she hated running, or working out in general. The ghoul was not built for such strenuous activities..

..Yet. Eventually he was going to have success in convincing her to go out for morning jogs with him. He was determined.

He waited until her breathing returned to a healthier pace, then tucked a curled finger under her chin to tip her head back so he could give her a welcoming kiss. "What was so important you had to run all the way here?" His voice was a soft murmur, almost teasing, before sobering almost as quickly. "Everything alright?" Had something gone wrong at the trials? Was she okay?

Deep breaths, Junko. In, out, in, out. She gave a nod as Seiji asked if she was okay, clearing her throat and letting out a fairly breathless laugh. "I-I'm great!" Junko replied with a huge smile, standing straight and patting at her chest a bit. Her heart was racing a mile a minute! Never. Running. Again. Never. She giggled and leaned into the kiss she was given, her arms coming up to hug around Seiji's neck as she held herself against him. Now that she wasn't tired it was clear she was excited.

He asked her another question and she grinned, giving Seiji one more kiss. And another. And a third. There was a fourth kiss before she finally squealed and hopped back, bouncing excitedly on her toes and clutching the paper in her hands in a way Seiji could read it...if..he was able to read a paper that was being moved around by her bouncing. "Look! Look, look, look! Looooook~! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

If he was able to read it, or just stopped her, he would be able to read what it said. It was a notice informing her the trial had been counted as an exam.

She was a third year now.

He continued to worry as he watched her gathering her breath, but by the time she had straightened to return the kisses it was pretty obvious she was all smiles and excitement. Which of course made him curious. He blinked down at the paper she was waving in front of him, and after a few failed attempts to read it as it moved back and forth with her bouncing he took it from her hand altogether.

It was a notice of exam completion, and Seiji couldn't help but stare down at it a little dumbly for a moment. The thing he'd been so adamantly against joining, and it turned out to have been fruitful after all. "Well damn," he murmured, rereading it again. Now wasn't that just a slap in the face. His expression was odd when he looked back towards his ghoulfriend, but he quickly smiled at the sight of just how happy the news had made her.

"This is awesome," he said at last, handing the paper back to her before curling his large arms around her to pick her up in a big hug. "I'm proud of you, though I guess this means i'll have to work extra hard to catch up." It seemed like they'd only just advanced to the second year, and already she was moving up to the third. Seiji was going to have to cram in a lot more classes.

This was about her though, not him, and he lay cool lips against her cheek. "Great job, Junko."

Junko was completely unaware of Seiji's jealousy and worry, too excited and filled with unbridled joy to register anything but that. All she saw was Seiji's surprise and then his smile. She squealed with delight again. He was proud of her! He was! Heeeeeee! Yay! She giggled and curled her arms around his neck as he hugged her, nuzzling her face against Seiji's cheek. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou! And yes! Of course! Ooooh! I'm so excited! I'm glad all that..mess was worth it! Ugh!"

At the kiss she giggled again and lifted her head away to look down at her boilfriend, grinning from ear to ear. "Thank youuuu~! I just..those trials were...crazy! Especially that last one." She shuddered a bit before relaxing against Seiji with a happy little sigh.
