A Guide to Gaining Rank
Please note all requirements are subject to change if it is required
These are NOT retroactive
RP Requirements Begin Accumulating Once a Character Becomes a Wingrider (aka their dragon is Adult-stage)
Welcome! If you've ambition and drive, this thread is full of interesting tidbits of information for you. Herein you can plot your career path. There are two tiers of ranks - Standard Ranks and High Ranks. Standard Ranks are those that most riders can obtain with some work and consist of Search, Watch, and Courier. Wardens are the end-point of these three ranks, combining all of their experience with combat training to great effect. High Ranks are those ranks only a few riders obtain and consist of Leadership Candidate, Wingleader, Wingsecond, and Assistant Weyrling/Candidatemaster. Summary____________________________________________________________________________
The search dragon is a dragon that is responsible for going out and collecting Candidates for upcoming clutches. These dragons are often highly intuitive, social, and amicable. The best Search Dragons are usually blues for their strong intuition and playful nature but any dragon can become a Search Dragon. This rank is just above Wingrider, the default rank for all dragon riders.
Requirements____________________________________________________________________________
Any Dragon Colour is Elligible
5 completed roleplays, of which the character in question has a least 15 posts.
Participate in at least Two (2) Threadfall Events until the end
Participate in at least Two (2) Shop Events until the end
Apply for rank change and be accepted

These are the actions required to maintain your rank. Duties are not included in the requirements to change rank

Summary____________________________________________________________________________
Warden dragons are the military portion of the Weyrs, adept at fighting Thread and people alike. A relatively new installation, these individuals train in the art of combat and self defense. With the rise in violence and paranoia on Pern, many Weyrs have opted to train specific individuals for the purpose of protecting the Weyrs, Caravans, and Holders. The dragons themselves tend to be hot tempered and while they cannot hurt humans, they can indeed chase away any non-human creatures. This is a special rank and is above the Search, Watch, and Courier Ranks.
Requirements____________________________________________________________________________
• Any Dragon Colour is Elligible
• 10 completed roleplays, of which the character in question has a least 15 posts.
• 3 completed solo roleplays, these can be journal entries, letters, or personal responses to events
in-game

The Leadership Candidate is someone who has their eye on the prize – either to become a Wingsecond, Wingleader or the Weyrleader. These individuals prove themselves in social and combat situations, displaying leadership, fearlessness, and some sort of ‘x’ factor that grabs peoples’ attention. They are experiences in Threadfall and not afraid of meeting the challenge head on. This rank is just above Wingrider, the default rank for all dragon riders.

__________________Assistant Candidatemasters & Weyrlingmasters__________________
Summary____________________________________________________________________________
Assistant Candidatemasters and Weyrlingmasters are Riders who assist the Head Candidate/Weyrlingmaster in planning, running, and otherwise surpervising the Candidates and Weyrlings. They are the role models and have a major influence during the initial months of a new rider or candidate’s life at the Weyr. Able to wrangle large groups of teenagers, these are riders to be respected. This rank is just above Leadership Candidate, the required rank for high-ranking individuals.
Requirements____________________________________________________________________________
• Dragon must be: White, Green, Blue, Black, Crimson, Silver
• 10 completed roleplays, of which the character in question has a least 15 posts.
• 3 completed solo roleplays, these can be journal entries, letters, or personal responses to events
in-game
• Participate in at least Two (2) Threadfall Events until the end
• Participate in at least Two (2) Shop Events until the end
• Achieved and held the Leadership Candidate Rank for at least 3 months Real-Life Time
• Apply for ranking-up and be accepted after review

Wingseconds are the right-hand riders of the Wingleaders, they support, enforce, and lead the wing they belong to, often carrying out the commands of the Wingleaders. They stand equal to the Wingleaders in meetings and many choose to become lifelong Wingseconds, renowned for their stability and dependability. This rank is just above Leadership Candidate, the required rank for high-ranking individuals.

• Dragon must be: Brown, Bronze, Crimson, or Silver
• 10 completed roleplays, of which the character in question has a least 15 posts.
• 5 completed solo roleplays, these can be journal entries, letters, or personal responses to events

Summary____________________________________________________________________________
Wingleaders are the movers and shakers of the Weyr, second only to the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman. They are respected, revered, and even feared by the rest of the weyr because of their extensive experience, ability to handle problems, and their leadership skills. Every one of the Wingleaders are veterans of some sort, though their roots are as diverse as their attitudes. Welcome and respected by the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman, Wingleaders serve as advisors in the Weyr and the Weyrleader most often comes from among the Wingleaders. This rank is above all other ranks and just below the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman.

Shop Events Specifics
Benefits of PC Wings These are Player-Run facets of the community – the more effort and participation there is, the more rewards there will be
Completing Training ORPS gains 0.5 EXP for the dragon pairs that have participated PER ORP – a completed Training ORP requires at least 2 pages and 5 posts by at least 3 of the characters involved (separate players) and must include a drill of some sort, be it formation practice or firestone chewing [ONLY those with at least 5 posts will earn EXP]
EXP earned applies to the Wingleader and/or Wingseconds as well as the Wing Members
Only 1 Training ORP can be active at a time PER WING – it must be completed or marked abandoned before a new one may be begun
Please MARK THE TITLE as completed when the Training ORP is finished.
If 10 Training ORPs are successfully completed, additional EXP and bonuses will be awarded after the ORPs have been reviewed
The mechanics of the drills are up to the Players of the Wingleaders and Wingseconds to determine as per the leadership style of the characters, refer to the dice mechanics of previous events for inspiration if needed or PM the mule for assistance.

The Second Weyrlingmaster and Second Candidatemaster are assistants to the head Weyrlingmaster and Candidatemasters, they provide supplemental lessons and tutorials that compliment the lessons given by their superiors - think of them as Teaching Assistants with a little more power
Seconds can dole out punishment, within reason, but severe cases MUST be run through the Head ____master.
Completing Weyrling and Candidate Lessons Grants 0.25 EXP PER ORP – a completed Lesson ORP requires at least 2 pages and 5 posts by at least 3 of the characters involved (separate players) and must include a lesson of some sort appropriate for Candidates or to the age of the Weyrlings involved. [ONLY those with at least 5 posts will earn EXP]
EXP earned applies to the Second as well as the students
Activities can include, but are not limited to: How to Oil, How to Care for Leather, How to Treat Wounds, How to Pick Firestone, How to Prepare Meat, How to Train Wing Muscles
The First Flight Lesson will be saved for Staff-lead ORPs but a PC Second can run a lesson at any time
Only 1 Lesson ORP can be active at a time – it must be completed or marked abandoned before a new one may be begun
Please MARK THE TITLE as completed when the Training ORP is finished.

So You Want Your Own Wing Eh?
A Guide to Starting Your Own Wing
This option will be available only at staff discretion and will come into play if/when there are a number of Wingleaders.
Most Wingleaders will take leadership of already existing Wings. However, some may be interested in starting their own wings.
Keep in mind that Wingleader is meant to be a prestigious, difficult position to obtain so one should not expect or feel entitled to the rank.
However! For those that do earn the rank, this is how you go about branching off.
Instructions on How to Start Your Wing IN your Wingleader Rank-up application, mention you intention to create a new wing
Gather at least 5 Player-Characters to your banner, ICly. Do this by completing at least 2 RPs per recruited character (One to petition them, one to collect them)
Gather a PC Wing Second ICly. Do this by completing at least 2 RPs (One to petition them, one to collect them).
Decide on an appropriate name and colour for the wing knots.
Put a Wing Profile together, listing your wing members, wing second, name, knot colours, and leadership philosophy in the supplied form.
Get the form approved.
Once the form is approved, you have 2 months to begin your first Drill. This drill must be completed within 6 months of form approval. If it is not, your wing will be dissolved.
Once your first Drill is complete, you have successfully started your own Wing! Only going inactive for 6 months will cause a demotion and in the case of a demotion, leadership will fall to your Wingsecond.
