Story Arc 1: Darkness Rising -Chapter 1: Calm
It was raining when he entered the forest, but the canopy provided shelter for him, both from the water drizzling from above and from prying eyes. This was a place that was not frequented by trainers nor by any humans, really, it was a place that many of them found to be... Uncomfortable. It was with good reason, really, as this was where the person that he was supposed to locate and meet with dwelled more often than not... Especially when he was wandering through the dreams. For a moment he stood in the darkness, listening to the rain and the strange silence of the forest, to the roll of thunder and to the sound of his own breathing.
It was too quiet in the forest for him to believe that he was alone, even during a storm of this size and ferocity. No, he was being watched which he could definitely understand considering his garb of choice; Hooded, dark-clothed figures typically did not bode will in any situation. However he also knew that the one he was meeting would be able to identify him simply by the white of his ears, of his tail. Such a thing was so rare that it was really difficult to not know his identity were one privy to his identity.
"Kaga."
Slowly he turned his head, gazing into the forest, lips quirking a little at the corner in the beginnings of a smile. Now that his contact had revealed himself it was difficult to miss the flowing, pink hair amongst the dense greenery and darkness he had emerged from. However they were used to being creatures that were good at disappearing or concealing themselves when necessary, even if they did not blend with their surroundings in the slightest. This man hadn't wanted to be seen at first and thus he had not been.
"Oneiro." he greeted, one fist clapping against his chest, eyes closing, head bowing forward in respect. "You've asked me to come because you see what we see, do you not?"
"Had I not known you when you were but a small Poochyena, I would think you were older than I am, the way you talk." the Musharna retorted, stepping forward to stand beside his visitor, staring up at the leaves rustling above them. "But yes. I have seen it while dreamwalking. There's a lot of hatred out there, a lot of dissention. It'll dissolve to violence soon."
"They're sending me to organize... A rally of sorts, I believe. A recruitment." the Mightyena mused, red eyes following the other man's gaze. "It will be for a group that wishes to unify and support both humans and pokemon."
"Ah, so that's where you disappeared to. A noble cause if it works."
"You are having doubts? Now? After everything you have done?"
"I could not foresee what would happen. If nothing is done there could be... A war."
"That is why this is so important. That is why I left, why I trained, why I joined--"
"So you did join them. I thought you had come to your senses. They're using you, can't you see that?"
"Just as much as I am using them." he retorted, ears flattening a little and tail lashing; it was unpleasant for him to think that Oneiro doubted him. "I refuse to sit and do nothing."
"Kaga--"
"Phantasm. That is the name I go by now. Did you summon me here to lecture me on my decisions or to help me correct your mistakes?"
Musharna's eyes narrowed and swiveled back to the Mightyena that stood beside him, eyes locking on the crimson ones already fixed on him. They stood in silence for a few moments, measuring one another's resolve, waiting for one to back down. Finally Oneiro sighed, slowly closing his eyes, the sound weary as he lifted a hand to rub the bridge of his nose. His shoulder's slumped, showing weariness that went behind simple physical exhaustion, more towards stress and mental fatigue.
"You truly believe that this... Army you will be building will be enough?" the Musharna finally questioned, staring at the man beside him, looking old, worn down.
"I believe that we need to try something or people will start dying, Oneiro." Phantasm breathed, looking pained, his eyes dropping to the damp earth beneath them. "I may have to resort to violent tactics to defend those who can not defend against this force."
"If that is what you truly believe then I will not stop you." Oneiro let out a soft, bitter bark of laughter after a moment, shaking his head. "What happened to the gentle pup I found in the woods?"
Phantasm stared at his one-time mentor for a long moment before closing his eyes, his expression smoothing. "He died."

Story Arc 1: Darkness Rising -Chapter 2: Dissonance
Night had always served as his armor, his shield from prying eyes and from attack. However on this night he stood in the center of the abandoned courtyard, listening to the sounds of the bustling city around them, oblivious as to what was about to occur. If he had to be honest with himself, however, Phantasm had to admit that their ignorance was most likely best at this point, all of their ignorance really. Even some Pokemon might panic if they knew what was about to occur and what it could possibly mean.
Crimson eyes slowly roamed around the courtyard, noting that the darkness seemed to grow deeper, unusual mist oozing into it and causing his eyes to narrow, cloak rustling as he shifted in preparation for an attack. What did that Crobat have planned this time? Typically he wasn't one for illusions and unnecessary fanfare so this seemed... Off. Besides why would he make such a show of not being alone when it came to a solo meeting? One of his hands slid across one of the daggers at his hip, eyes narrowing as he continued to scan the darkness.
"My, you're much prettier than our dear old departed leader lead us to believe." Phantasm's head turned, eyes narrowing a little as he peered into the darkness, attempting to make out a shape. "I'm sure you came here expecting to talk about peace and harmony. Surprise!"
"Show yourself." Phantasm growled, eyes narrow and ears flat beneath his hood. "I refuse to speak with shadows."
"Ooooh." the voice cooed as its owner slowly melted from the shadows, making as if he was made of them, which wasn't a stretch; he was very obviously a Banette; Stitches tattooed across mouth and lips, hood concealing his head, eyes gleaming in the darkness. "So testy. "
"You." Phantasm snarled, his hand curling around the hilt of one of his daggers, eyes darting around the courtyard warily. "I should have known. Did you kill him and take control? Mind control him into giving the organization over to you?"
"Oh don't be so boring. He left on his own accord. He had a... Change of heart." the Banette cooed, tongue darting out to wet his lips. "Now you get to have your silly little underground peace talks with me. Do the humans even realize that you're going behind their backs like this?"
"Your little stunt today could have landed us in the middle of a blood bath."
"The middle? Well that's a shame. I want to be on the front lines."
"You won't win. Starting a war will just end in pointless death. So many people will die--"
"Thats what people DO!" the Banette's voice boomed as he shouted the last word, expression contorting into rage for a moment before his eyes went wide and he smiled a little when Phantasm jumped, alarmed. "Humans live and die just like we do. Why should they get a free ticket out of the war, hmmm?"
"I will stop you." Phantasm growled, his eyes narrowed, stance shifting to prepare for battle.
"No you won't." the Bannette smiled, the expression contorting the stitches tattooed across his mouth and lips.
"You're insane. How can you proclaim to be for the equality of humans when--"
"Oh, my, you're more blind than I thought. Don't you see? You're just a puppet, little puppy." Iason smirked, chuckling to himself. "You don't even know who you're really working for."
Phantasm's eyes narrowed at the comment, but his grip on his blade faltered. "...What are you talking about?"
"Oh, shame on you. I'm not going to ruin the surprise. When you fall, I want to be there to catch you."
"Iason--"
"Nope. Enjoy your temporary bliss while it lasts, Phantasm."
"Wait--!"
Phantasm lunged towards the mist that was moving to encompass the Bannette but his hands met nothing but empty air, causing him to stumble, his head whipping back and forth. Unease coiled in his gut, making his jaw clench and his eyes widen a little as paranoia began to grow in him. He couldn't help but wonder if the ghost Pokemon was really was crazy or if something really was happening scenes that he could not see. Eyes narrowing he turned and adjusted his hood and cloak, pulling it tighter around himself before disappearing amongst the trees nearby; he would do some checking through his... Sources just to be certain.
