The sun shone brightly on the jungle that the Jedi called home, but A'lan's mind was troubled. As he walked along warm stone path, his tail hung tiredly and his pace was sedated. He had been feeling a bit fatigued as of late so he had stopped by the healers a bit earlier then his regular appointment. Relaying his concerns to them, they told him to take it easy and to not strain himself lest he get sick again.
Which was the last thing A'lan wanted.
It had seemed forever ago since he had been saved from that disease as a padawan. He had been infected while on a diplomatic mission with his master. But ever since then he got sick much more easily. So he would check in with the healers every once in a while to make sure he was doing okay. There had only been one or two scares, but mostly it was just light to mild stuff and even then only every so often.
Wanting to clear his mind, A'lan headed over to the meditation pools.

It still felt strange... being back here after so long away. He could still remember his master's face the day he passed his trials to become a Knight. There had never really been any doubt that he would graduate, but still the old lion had been as proud as a puffed up elephant that his last padawan had gained his beads, and the title of Peacekeeper. Soon after Kamau's ceremony, the old male had slipped away into the surrounding mountains and passed on, though Kamau had known his time was close and the old master had even called the young leopard in to his quarters that last evening to share a meal and many stories. A week later, Kamau had left the complex and ventured out into the roguelands, where he had carried the word of the Way to those in need of its wisdom and spoken of his pride to any willing to listen. Many had been grateful, and while they hadn't chosen to take on the mantel of the Jedi, they had accepted the wisdom and improved their lives with its guidance. A few had been so touched by the Force that they left their old lives behind and had joined the pride, and it was those that Kamau had accompanied to his homeland's boarders... but not once had he actually crossed over and entered his pride's territory... feeling that his task given to him by the Force had not yet been completed. But finally, many seasons after leaving the temple and all that he had loved, he had set paw back on the winding pathway and finally returned to his home.
Now he was not only a Master himself, but he had been asked to represent the council, and while he did not feel that he deserved such a great honor, he had not been able to turn his old teachers down and thus, accepted. Now, the new beads sat easily round his neck, a weight that he felt each time he moved and gave him a strange kind of comfort, as if his old Master was still guiding him gently through the Force.
Flicking an ear he turned his gaze from the shimmering water, letting his thoughts slide away as the present reasserted itself on his consciousness. Another was approaching and Kamau turned his head to welcome them from where he was stretched along the shore of the meditation pool.

Though a bit surprised at see the other council member, A'lan still offered Kamau a sincere smile.
He didn't know the leopard all to well, much to his disappointment. Kamau had been away from the pride while A'lan had been a youngling and he and his master had never run into him while they were out on missions. But he had met with quite a few of the newcomers that he had directed here.
"Good day Kamau, I'm sorry if I interrupted your meditation."

The older leopard smiled serenely, shaking his head. "You did not interrupt at all." Letting his long tail curl loosely about his hind quarters, he dipped his head and indicated the pool beside him. "I would be honored if you would join me for a little while, Master A'lan." Once the other male had settled down, Kamau glanced out over the pool in calm reflection before returning his gaze to A'lan. "The youngsters seem to be coming along well." He commented, having sat in on a class a few days prior just to see how things were coming along in their education. After all, it had been a long time since he was that young, and it would not do to become out of touch with the pride's future Jedi.
The pale coloured leopard was as calm as always, certainly nothing ever seemed to ruffle him or upset the patient acceptance with which he viewed the world. Even rambunctious youngsters playing outside the temple when they were supposed to be in classes were gently reprimanded and sent, chastised and repentant, on their way.

A'lan settled himself down on the soft grass and admired the serene pool. "I'll have to admit, it's quite the honor itself working with you. Thank you for letting me join you." He let the tranquility run over him and sooth his mind, the earlier troubled feelings beginning to ebb away. He could still get things done while on rest. Though telling Drox would not be fun. At Kamau's comment about the Younglings he smiled and gave a soft laugh.
"Yes, they do seem to have quite a bit of spirit! They will be great Jedi when they grow up."
He let a moment pass between them. The sounds of running water and wind blowing through the trees calming. "Hmm, how does it feel to be home again? If you do not mind me asking?"
