So many boxes. So many things to put away. But where exactly was she going to put it all? Maybe she had just packed way too much...
Meixiang blew a stray strand of hair out of her face in mild frustration as she looked at the boxes that surrounded her. She had pushed some out into the hallway just outside her door. Keeping it open just slightly so she could make sure no body came by and took a box or decided to rummage through her things without her knowledge.
Turning on her heels, she looked at her pet Feslime Goop who had spread himself out on the newly blanketed bed. "Well you're no real help now are you, you lazy bum. Sit there and watch me do all the work, shame on you. You're suppose to be a gentleman and help a lady out ya know." She waggled a finger at him to which he merely bubbled in response.
She finally set her sights onto a small trunk that was filled with clothes and accessories. "Guess I might as well start putting this stuff away first. Seems like it would be the easiest since it just goes into a drawer anyhow." Mei flipped open the locks, the top springing open as a pile of clothes popped out. Some random unmentionables falling onto the floor.

Alexander was shuffling along down the hallway, in his usual slouched over, slightly abnormal and jerky ambling gait. His hands were dug deep into his pockets, his gaze down cast as he stared at the floor in front of him rather then straight ahead where he might be able to see somebody approaching him. His tie swung loosely around his neck, his hair flopped in front of his eyes. He wouldn't push it back out of his face until he looked up, when he stopped at the sound of a voice coming from an open doorway to the side of the hall.
You're suppose to be a gentleman and help a lady out ya know.
Oh? What was this? He tilted his head to the side, his recently brushed back hair falling annoyingly into his eyes once more. He reached up to push it back with an irritated scowl, but his eyes locked on the un-opened boxes sitting in the hallway.
Sooooo, somebody new was moving in to the dorms? Not being one to shy away from a new person, and in fact, thriving on making new friends, Alex shambled clumsily towards the open bedroom door. The voice was speaking again, the sound filtering out into the open hallway. He wasn't really paying attention to what the feminine voice was saying, however, as he sidestepped around the boxes and peeked in through the doorway, clearing his throat a little before speaking to catch her attention.
"Uh...hi there! You uh...you're just moving in? Do you need some help?" He asked, maybe a touch nervous that he might be overstepping his bounds. For the most part, all of the students he'd met at Amityville so far were pretty friendly, and this ghoul certainly looked like she might need a hand, judging by the boxes littering the floor of her dorm room.
He resolutely chose to ignore any...unmentionables that might be lying about.

Mei had been bent over gathering her clothes when the sudden voice at the door caught her attention. She quickly stuffed everything back into the trunk, closing its top and locking the locks once more. She'd put those away later she supposed. Didn't really need anyone glancing at things that she didn't want glanced at.
Standing up, she straightened out her short kimono and gave it a light dusting off. She smiled at the boy in her doorway, a zombie from the looks of it. "Hello there." Glancing at the boxes she gave him a cheeky grin. "Is it that obvious? Hmmm, I could use a little help sure. Would probably go a lot faster is somebody helped." The Jiang Shi shot a slanted look at the Feslime oozing on her bed.
"I'm Meixiang and my Feslime life mate here is Goop." Goop bubbled in Alex's general direction. "Oh be nice Goop, he's here to help. Which is a lot more than your lazy butt is doing." The Feslime bubbled again which caused Mei to give him a very unpleasant look. "Don't mind him, he's grumpy most of the time. I told him he needs to find some friends but he just doesn't seem to be into that."
She turned her attention back to him fully, leaving Goop to continue to snooze on the bed. "What's your name by the way?"

He returned her grin with one of his own. The friendly gesture came naturally to the zomboil, who almost always seemed to have a smile on his face. His grin only broadened at her words, as he moved forward to lean casually against the door frame, his gaze following her's towards the Feslime that appeared to be so comfortably oozing away on her bed. So, that's who she had been talking to as he had been wandering past?
The zomboil had to laugh.
"Well, I promise to try and be more helpful then Goop." He replied, though in all honesty, any type of physical exertion was not Alex's favorite thing to do, and he would likely rather be sprawled out on a bed watching others do all of the work as well, so he could sympathize with the bubbling pet.
Standing up straight, he shuffled his way into the room, dodging around boxes and making his way over to the ghoul. "I'm Alexander." He said, happily. "It's a pleasure to meet you..uh..Meixiang?" he wasn't quite sure he said it right, though he gave it a good try. He stuck out a hand towards her, assuming she wouldn't be opposed to that form of greeting.
His gaze then wandered around to all of the boxes. All of the many...many...boxes. "You uh..brought quite a lot with you," he said, with possibly a hint of anxiety as the full extent of what he had gotten himself into finally hit.
So many boxes. So much work. Why exactly had he volunteered to do this? Oh right, it was the gentlemanly thing to do.
He couldn't help but feel like both his mother and Yin would have been proud of him at this moment.

"I think a slug could be more helpful than him." Mei gave Goop an indignant look who in return gave an indignant bubble. She reached over and pet what seemed to be the Feslime's head. "Awww, its ok Goop. You have other abilities that are much more useful like...like......like...." She put a finger to her chin in thought, then to her forehead as she tried to think harder. "Well I'll think of something eventually."
Mei took his hand and gave it a light but firm shake, making sure not to shake it too hard in case she might pull his arm off on accident. That would have been a very embarrassing first handshake. She giggled. "It's my pleasure, Alex. Feel free to just call me Mei. Some find it a bit difficult to pronounce my full name."
Looking at the boxes, she grinned. "Yea, I figure if I can't find a place for it all I'll just shove some of it into my closet or under the bed." She pointed towards a box nearest the bed. "That one has a bunch of comics amd books and such in it if you would like to start taking them out and putting them over on the shelves near my desk?"
Moving back over to the trunk that she had been messing with previously, she opened it once more. Pulling out the clothes inside, folding them then placing them away in the drawers. "So...I haven't done much exploring of the school yet. Whats it like around here? Are the teachers delightfully spooky as the rumors say? I figure you've probably been around a while so can give me a little insight."

It was good that a slug would be more helpful, because that's about the speed that Alex was capable of moving at under the best of circumstances (okay, so maybe not quite that slow).
He chuckled a little at the ghouls odd interactions with her pet feslime. "Is he the only pet you have?" He asked, curiously, as he tucked away the information that she wouldn't mind to have her name shortened down to 'Mei' for later. So many of his friends seemed to have only one or no pets at all, and he found it a little bit odd. He himself had far too many pets, it seemed, and he only kept adding more and more to his growing horde.
"I'm sure we can find a place for everything," He replied, before his gaze shifted towards the box at the bedside, nodding his understanding before shuffling over towards it. Comic books? He really had no use for them, though he thought maybe Mort was into that kind of stuff. He hefted the heavy box up into his arms, struggling and using one knee for support while he tried to maneuver an arm to the underside so that the box wouldn't spill open from the bottom. Once he had that settled, he was easily able to carry it over towards the desk, finding an empty space to set it on top and opening it up to begin transferring the contents over to the bookshelf nearby.
"Hrm? Oh, it's uh..pretty interesting I suppose. There's a few nice places around campus, like the lake outside the monster dorms, and the wishing well, and there are even some caverns with some hot springs behind the undead dorms as well." He answered, happily rambling on and on without pause.
"The teachers I've met are generally pretty cool. Nurse Cricket scares me a little, Professor QB is uh..ya, he's pretty creepy, I'd say. Professor Malcolm seems alright, and Savage is just..I dunno, I think she may have a few screws loose." He frowned, glancing behind him towards the ghoul as he remembered the recent jousting class he had taken with Professor Savage as the instructor. There were other teachers, and Alex could probably continue on, but he figured it would probably be polite to let Mei hop in with any responses or questions she might have.

"Yep. I've had Goop since he was a tiny little snot. Found him trying to rummage through some trash cans one day. He was so tiny he couldn't even knock them over to get inside. So I scooped him up and took him home. He's been with me ever since. I dunno what I'd do without him. He's been my closest friend since that day, even though he tends to be a little disgruntled at times." She glanced over her shoulder at the sleeping Feslime with a smile as she remember that day in her head.
How tiny and scared the Feslime had been at first, it had taken her a bit but finally won over his trust with a little bit of coaxing and promises of tasty treats. "I'm sure there are those out there that like having lotsa pets, but I think Goop is enough for me."
She listened closely as he went on about the different places around campus and the different teachers that he had interacted with so far. "Hot springs hm? I might hafta check those out sometime."
Mei giggled lightly as she finished putting her clothes away and went to open another box. "I figured the teachers would be quite a deck of cards. What do you usually do when your not in classes, Alex?"

Alex was definitely one of those sorts out there who liked to have lots of pets.
Definitely.
It was like he just couldn't say no! His one zombie jox had turned into a small horde of four. His undead poms, his black rabbit, his scentem death. And then there were the pets given to him or that he was looking after hopefully temporarily, like the cycorgi and the lammit. And that pink frilly thing that lived in his closet..he almost didn't even want to think about her.
Almost as if on cue to his thoughts, however, a sudden but familiar sound came from near the open doorway. A small, questioning merow that caused Alex's eyes to snap towards the source of the sound. "Fei??" He said, sounding incredulous as he dropped the books he had just been taking out back into the box. And yes, it was Fei, his small Runic Vaisel, still just a kit, sitting in the open entrance with his large blue tinged tail flicking back and forth.
"What are you doing out?" He frowned, wondering if he had perhaps left the door to his own room slightly ajar or if the vaisel had somehow slipped out behind him without him noticing. He made his way over to the little kit, reaching out to scoop him up in his arms. The vaisel immediatly climbed up to his shoulder and nuzzled against his neck, then reached up to swat at the ends of Alex's white hair with his little paws.
"Sorry." He apologized, looking back towards Mei. "I..I have no idea how he got up here." he was still frowning slightly. Maybe Fei had thought they were heading over to Yin's room...
...Now that Alex thought about it, it wasn't a bad idea.
"If you want I can take him back to my room.." He started, not sure if the ghoul would really like other pets wandering around her room, though Fei seemed happy to just perch on Alex's shoulder for now. The question of what he might do when not in classes forgotten for the moment in light of this new situation.

Mei smiled warmly at the little Vaisel. With a small shake of her head she walked over towards Alex and held out her hand, letting Fei decided whether or not he would let her pet him.
"Nah its ok. I don't mind if you wanna keep him around while you're here. He's awfully cute. Maybe he can play with Goop. He won't hurt him or anything. Goop is grumpy but he's not mean."
She went back over to the box she had been attending to, opening it and peering inside. "But if you would rather take him somewhere else that's fine by me. I'm not gonna force you to do anything you don't feel comfortable about. And him being out and about seems to make you a little nervous."
Mei chuckled. "Of course, I would be worried about Goop too if he was out and about wandering without me knowing about it."

As Mei held out her hand, Fei leaned forward from his perch, tail still flicking back and forth playfully as he dug claws into Alex's shoulder so as not to fall as he rubbed his face against the offered appendage. "Ya, no I was just surprised to find him out, is all. I guess he's just used to me taking him out with me at this time of day since we usually take him to visit Lady Terror." He grinned, still finding the other vaisels name amusing since it had been more of a joke at the time that Alex had given her the name 'Winged Terror'.
"She's the vaisel that I bought for my boilfriend." He said happily, not really caring about hiding the fact that he was involved with somebody anymore.
"Fei is pretty friendly, and playful, and can be a little obnoxious. If you think Goop can handle it, then I don't mind at all." He finished, though for now Fei still seemed content to sit in his current position, tail wrapping around the back of Alex's neck.
He wandered back over towards the box of books, having found that they weren't all comics like he'd originally thought and curious to see what other types of reading material the ghoul was interested in, though he just quickly glanced at a few titles before shelving them.
"So..where were we again before my wayward pet found his way to your door?"

"Boilfriend hm? Who's he and what's he like? Maybe I'll run into him sometime." Mei peeked over one of the box flaps with a grin. She didn't mind others talking about their relationships to her, in face she quite enjoyed encouraging it. Even if she didn't have one of her own, it was nice to listen to others talk about their significant.
"Bah, the most Goop will do is probably just burble and slip off to some narrow space is Fei gets too obnoxious." Goop semi-solidified his head to peer up at the fuzzy little creature that perched on Alex's shoulder. A long gooey tendril that quite possibly was his tail slapped against the bed sheets.
Mei started to pull out little things that were wrapped in paper. Unwrapping the one currently in her hands she smiled. It was a skeleton carousel horse. She collected quite a few of them when she could find them. Usually from little less than popular shops that were generally tucked away in the far, shadowy corners of shopping areas. They were her one guilty pleasure.
"Weeee were talking about what kinds of things you do outside of classes." She moved towards another shelf and started to place her skele-horses neatly.

"His names Yǐn Cáng." Alex answered, deeming this an appropriate time to use his boilfriends full name rather then the much easier and less time consuming 'Yin' just about everyone, including Alex, called him. "He's a mantodae. A weremantis." Alex quickly clarified, in case she had no idea what the first term meant.
"He's uh..well, he's different." Alex laughed, as he pulled some more books out of the box, then turned to shelve them as well, hoping she didn't mind if they weren't placed in any particular order. "We're pretty much exact opposites. I think one of the only things we both have in common is that we're both carnivores, though he still prefers his food cooked to raw, so even in that we are different." He stopped what he was doing for a moment, perhaps looking slightly dreamy before remembering he had a task to complete and went back to the finish off putting the books in the box away.
"I'll introduce you to him sometime, if you'd like."
As all of this was happening, Fei was starting to get restless, and that gooey green globby thing on the bed looked aawwwwfully interesting! He finally jumped down from Alex's shoulder to the floor, and waddled over towards the bed before jumping and using his claws to climb his way to the bed top. He then sat there, head tilted to the side as he looked at Goop curiously, wondering if it was some type of food.
Alex shelved the last few books in the box, feeling like he'd possibly made good time. "Outside of classes, I usually go to the library to read, or go to the maul, or hang out with Yin. Mostly, lately, I just hang out with Yin. Though well, I'm actually on a team, competing in the horsemen trials right now, so I haven't had much time for anything except that. We're just on a break right now." He could only assume she had heard of the trials, since they were all over the news and on tv.
"I'm finished with this box, did you have another one? Anymore books?"

"A weremantis? Well that's certainly different. Not unexpected, I just don't think I've ever heard of a weremantis before. Werewolves and werecats sure. Does he turn into a teenie little mantis or stay full size when he transforms?" Now Mei was curious about this Yin Cáng for sure. He was something completely different. Outside her range of knowledge. And she did come here to learn.
"Aww, well as they say. Sometimes opposites attract. And I think it would be a pretty boring relationship if you guys were identical to each other in almost every way. At least it would be fore me." She finished putting her skele-horses away and broke down the box by squashing it with her foot. Dusting her hands off.
"I would like that. I'm certainly open to meeting anyone and everyone I can."
Goop peered at Fei from his puddled position on the bed. It seemed to him that the little Vaisel was starting to get ideas that he didn't quite like. Not one bit. Pulling his gooey form together, he took on a more solidified cat-like form. His goo rippling as he gave his long tail a short flick across the sheets, one eye blinking as he made a burbling noise that sounded almost like a meow.
The ghoul titled her head slightly as she listened, eyeing the rest of the boxes. "Ah yea. I heard of the Horsemen Trials. Was kinda sad that I got here a little late to sign up for them but oh well. I'm sure there'll be more things in the future for me to participate in. How goes your competitions so far?"
She slid a box towards him with the tip of her foot. "This one has some pretty old Chinese books in it if you would like to flip through them. I don't know if you can read Chinese but you can at least enjoy the pictures I'm sure. My adoptive family gave them to me to read so I could learn more about myself and what I am."

"He turns into a..uh, very big mantis. Bigger then his more humanoid form, actually." Alex had to fight not to shudder inwardly at the thought of that giant green form. It wasn't because he was scared of how Yin looked or anything, just that those giant serrated claws of his freaked him out a little. He was actually quite proud to have a boilfriend with such a frightening form though, thank you very much! "Like..he's almost half a foot shorter then me most of the time, but when he changes, he's a foot or more taller." That would at least give the ghoul some perspective towards the height difference.
"That's exactly how I feel, too." He said, in reply to the opposites comment. At least their relationship was never boring! And that was really one of the reasons Alex liked the other boil so much, anyways. "I'll see if I can introduce you after the trials. Not sure if we really have time right now. And with all of those reporters hanging around? I think I'm crazy to even be going outside."
Fei's own tail continued to flick back and forth as he stared at the feslime. When the other minipet started to change and reform, the fur on the back of Fei's neck began to bristle and his back arched in surprise as he let out a surprised hissing spit.
"We've only done one trial so far." Alex answered, while throwing a glance towards the bed, mildly concerned but not overly so. "And we uh...didn't do terribly I guess. Managed to stay solidly in the middle of the standings." He chuckled, not really too bothered that they weren't at the top of the pack. There were still two trials left to compete in, after all.
He turned towards the new box she indicted, shuffling forward to pick it up from the place she had slid it to. He wasn't so sure he'd be flipping through any of the books inside, but since she mentioned it, he might take a quick peek. He managed to put two and two together though, when she mentioned chinese, adopted, and well, her appearance and the fact that she was undead really led him to come to one simple conclusion.
"You are...a Jiang Shi?" He guessed, hoping she didn't mind the sudden assumption.

Mei made an 'o' shape with her lips. Now that was certainly interesting. And perhaps made her all the more curious. The ghoul tapped the tips of her pointer fingers together as she gave Alex a serious look. "Do you think he would be offended if I asked him to transform for me at least once? All this talk has sparked my curiosity. I won't ask him though if it would. I wouldn't want to offend. I'm just sure its utterly terrifying and would be a scream."
The Jiang Shi figured out the height difference pretty well. She was only 5'1 and fairly petite compared to some of the boils and ghouls that roamed the halls. So even over her in his Mantis form he would tower. "Great! We can all get together and maybe go to the maul or something. Hang out, get some snacks or whatever. Fun things. I'm sure you guys will need some of that after all you'll be going through."
Goop bubbled at Fei. It's eye opening and closing lazily as it gave a muted, gurgling yawn. Not at all perturbed by the little fluff ball's erratic display of surprise.
"Hey well as long as your still in it that's all that counts." She opened another box, this one containing Goop's own personal things. His bed and toys. Random bobbles the Feslime seemed to like.
Looking up from the box, Mei placed a finger on the paper upon her forehead. Her tongue slipping out slightly from the corner of her mouth. "Good guess and you are, indeed, correct. I am Jiang Shi. Made it a little too easy for you to figure out I guess." She laughed with a small shake of her head. The ghoul still had a bit to learn about herself and her race. By her adoptive family's terms she was still pretty fresh out of the grave.
