Entry 1~Because I know Raevann is too damn lazy to keep a journal on his own I, Berry, will do the task for him until Li is able to do the task on his own. I will, of course, be telling it in a story format.~The door opened letting a pool of light and the sounds of laughter poor into the dank alley. Raevann stepped through letting it slam behind him. As soon as he was free of the threshold he loosened his tie and undid the top buttons of his shirt with one hand while he dug in his pocket for his cigarettes with the other. Tapping one loose he pulled it from the pack with his lips and fished in his pocket for a light. With a grunt of satisfaction hit lit up and took a long drag before sighing smoke swirls into the night. Leaning against the wall he looked up to the sky. The city lights assured that there were no stars visible. If there was one thing he missed it was seeing the stars.
With a practiced motion he put out the cigarette on the sole of his boot and began to walk down the alley. Time to make his way home. It had been a long night at work. His manager had placed him with one of their least favored customers. Pity the woman was such a big spender or they wouldn't have allowed her in the place with her crappy a** attitude. It had taken all of his patience not to reach over and snap her neck to be done with her. Shaking his head Raevann rounded the corner onto the main street. It was a chill night and he could see his breath fog in the air. too nice of a night to head home right away.
He walked a few blocks until he could turn down a road that skirted the park. With a quick glance over his shoulder to make sure there were no immediate passers by he hopped the fence and made his way into the lush greenery. This park wasn't typical. It was a highly manicured spot sought out by high society for when the elite felt like being 'in nature'. Only open during the day it was gated and locked at night to keep the riff-raff, like himself, out. It wasn't too bad for all the care it received. It was obvious that whoever did the grounds keeping actually cared for the life of the place.
As he wandered through he let his mind go. Back to the times when he had had others that he considered friends. When he hadn't insisted on living alone. He wouldn't admit it but it was almost lonely, this life he had chosen. Ah, well. Not like she needed him around. She. His mind drifted to thoughts of the girl he had once cared for. He was so deep in though he didn't notice when he had stopped wandering. It was a moment before he sensed something wasn't right. Curious what had gotten his attention, he looked around.
The first thing he noticed was the starlight. Then the life that ebbed and flowed around him. The park was nice. But couldn't even begin to compare to the energies moving through this place. They all seemed to be moving in one direction. In a spiral toward the center. He started to follow them on instinct. He hadn't walked more than a minute when he felt drawn off the path. and there she was. The girl, now woman, he had been thinking of.
The moonlight shown in her long blonde hair. It was hanging loose over her should as she leaned slightly forward, her pretty pink eyes locked on something before her. He made his way closer and saw she was sitting at the edge of a pond. The water in it was perfectly still. He stepped up behind her and followed her gaze. Just out of her reach was a perfect lotus flower. And on it was a small round object flickering with light. Even as he watched the light dimmed and the flickering came less often. He pulled out another cigarette and lit it before breaking the silence.
"What is it?" To her credit she didn't jump. The sound of the lighter must have given him away. She turned to look at him in mild surprise before answering.
"It's a Dream. It's dieing though. No one has come to fulfill it."
He watched it with her for another moment. A light tinkling sound caught his attention. Was it the thing? Curious he knelt beside her and reached out, pulling the flower closer so he could pluck the little thing off.
"A Dream huh?" he cradled it in his palm in front of his face so he could look at it. She watched him with surprise.
"You can touch it." she stated. "It must be yours. Will you take it?"
"What do I do?"
"Find a bottle. Here in the Garden. You'll know when you have the right one. Quickly. Before it fades."
He nodded and stood before walking away from her into the grass. He walked as if drawn in a particular direction. There. A bottle lay on the ground as if cast aside. The thing looked emptyHe watched in awe as at first appearance but he picked it up and studied it. In the bottom was the smallest drop of iridescent black liquid. There wasn't even a stopper in it anymore. He felt her hand on his shoulder as she made her way up behind him. "That's-" she began before cutting herself off with a frown. He looked over his shoulder at her. She nodded toward the drop in his hand. With a shrug he upended the bottle over it. They both watched as the very last drop slipped down the inside of the glass and hesitated on the lip of the bottle before dropping to the little thing.
He watched in awe as the surface swirled and then turned the same black as the drip from the bottle had been. He looked over at the girl and caught her eye. She smiled at him.
"Now you have your very own Dew, Raevann."
He quirked an eyebrow at her in question.
"If you take care of it. It will grow for you."
"Grow for me." He mused. "It was nice seeing you again Berry." He stole a kiss before walking away to disappear into the darkness, the glow of his cigarette fading until it was gone completely.
