The Isle of War at its best can be described as "inhospitable." There are no paths or roads to speak of. Truthfully, the island looks uninhabited at first. It is only until one ventures further into the island or along its banks can they see evidence that a horseman clan has made the island their home. Fences have been erected at various points along the shoreline and along ideal routes inward to the island were not built to keep anyone out or to keep the forest back, but rather to display trophies: skeletons, rusted weapons, and even painted murals of past victories.

A path of sorts has been hacked through the underbrush, complete with helpful signs and skeletal arms pointing the correct direction. Even if someone follows this path, it leads to seemingly nowhere.

That is, unless you look up.

The entire city belonging to the War clan has been built within the forest's canopy. The buildings are seemingly merged with the trees themselves in a circular shape, enabling every citizen to have an expansive balcony they can easily take off and land upon. There are no bridges, as every member of the War clan has wings and can fly.

For the visiting student guests however, elevators have been rigged to assist those who are unable to fly. These elevators will bring them to the public platforms. These platforms are large, circular open spaces created out of woven branches like a giant nest. It is here on these platforms that the War clan practices their drills in the morning and evening.

During midday these platforms host a large open market. The raw materials that make up these goods come from the jungle below: wood, bone, pelt, and feathers are the popular materials of choice. There are no metal objects, as the War people have no use for smelting. Any metal weapons they have are created with their own natural ability and Fear, and thus are not for sale.

A majority of visiting students will not be able to access the other locations they can see. These are private homes, and any unwelcome visitation will most likely be met with hostility. This is perfectly normal. The people of War greet each other and strangers with a quick spar to test strength, however it is advised that guests do not do this too often as the War clan often does not fight with restraint.

When it comes to differing between the social classes, it is difficult for the untrained eye to detect any difference between dwellings. There is little to no difference in height where one makes their dwelling, nor in the size of it. Rather, the easiest way to tell is by the trophies hanging off of the balcony. If the trophies consist majorly of wood, feathers, and other materials found in the forest then most likely that member of the War clan has a supportive role, such as being a merchant, leather worker, tanner, gatherer, etc. If the trophies are animal hides, bones, and old weapons then most likely a warrior dwells there.

The exception to this rule is where the War clan leader lives. This dwelling is located towards the center of the treetop-city, accessible by any citizen at any time of the day. The balcony of this boasts the largest collection of trophies, a majority of them being bundles of skulls of varying size in varying conditions. An open balcony has been attached to one side of this circular dwelling, enabling the War Queen a place to hold her meetings and to address her clan who quite often perch in the nearby branches surrounding her home in order to hear her words. As open as the War Queen's dwelling is, a majority of it has been fenced off and is currently being guarded by fierce-eyed War members, denying visitors access to the inside.

Population-wise, the War clan is comprised mostly of females. This has given them an "Amazonian" appearance and feel. However, all members of the War clan are taught how to fight and defend themselves. If an individual does not show an inclination towards fighting, then they are taught how to run away and avoid danger. These individuals are expected to take on the supporting roles as scouts, healers, and craftsmen. Nevertheless, everyone is taught the basics of every weapon before they specialize in a particular weapon. Even if a craftsman does not wish to fight, he or she will still be taught how just in case.

The War clan can be described as "hunter-gatherers." The only gardens are small, private gardens grown on a windowsill for extra greenery or easy access to prized herbs for dye or flavor. While the Horsemen are able to sustain themselves on Fear, there are some who enjoy the thrill and risk of a hunt or the meditative state that comes from picking fresh fruit.

In addition, the War clan sees the acts of hunting and gathering essential for any War member's skills. Hunting can teach patience, intuition, and speed. Gathering can improve the hand/eye coordination, especially if a member seeks out the rarer and harder to find plants. The War clan also does not believe in wasting. Anything and everything is useful, from bringing a pelt to a tanner or from bringing unused fruit and herbs to a dyer.

Overall, the War clan is brought up on communal values and taught to respect each other. Everyone is expected to pull in their fair share. If they are sick or unable to work, the community will pitch in to heal the sick and to find them something to do while healing. Very rarely are there idle hands in the War clan, as everyone is either doing something or training.

Even art is held to this regard. While members of the War clan may not actively seek it out, this isn't to say that they enjoy having trinkets that celebrate their victories or appeals to their pleasures. It is merely something that takes a lower priority to combat training.

Clan Rumors:

Clan Leader - War

Clan Leader: War
Gender: Female
Notable Traits: Wings at the shoulders. Many scars. Short, cropped hair, often wind-blown. Prefers to wear feathers as an ornament.
Summoned Weapon: A small throwing knife. Do not let its size fool you.

Towards Her People:
War treats her people with respect, and expects the same treatment in return. She is compassionate and cares for her people, and does not believe in ruling by the very element they harvest or with an iron fist. She highly prefers to be trusted than to be followed blindly. War's meeting room is open to anyone and everyone who seeks her counsel, however this does not necessarily mean that she will be the one to assist with the problem. She does have a clan to lead, however she also does have generals and lieutenants who will listen to problems and attempt to sort them out.

Thoughts

Towards Amityville:
War's stance on Halloween is currently unknown.

Towards Amityville:
War's stance on Amityville is currently unknown.

Towards Humans:
War's stance on Humans is currently unknown.

Towards Deus Ex:
War's stance on Deus Ex and Hunters is currently unknown.

The Jungles

There has to be a reason why the War clan makes its home in the trees, right? When asked, a clansmember is quick to point out the obvious: they have wings. They can fly. What's the point of having a loft on the ground when you can build one in the trees?

But... there has to be something more to it, right? Maybe if you looked around for a bit...

The Baths

Despite the fact that the War clansmen live in a jungle, they seem rather... well. Not as grubby as you'd expect them to. Perhaps there's a bathing area or hotsprings somewhere around that they're not telling you about? Maybe if you went up into the Observation Point you might be able to see something.

[ Caste System: War ]

All Four Clans members, depending on their Clan, have a unique caste structure. The Clan of War divides their classes by their Clan member's unique fighting abilities, strengths and weaknesses. They then train in whatever area they are strongest in, to become specifically, warriors versed in a certain type of fighting art.

[ Job Classes: War ]

gaia_crown [ Heir ]: The Heir of War is versed in all fighting arts, capable of aerial, weapons, and obstacle combat. They are almost always female, and are tested in a tournament where all are eligible: the victor becomes the Heir of War. Usually the title of Heir is offered to Chieftains only.

gaia_diamond [ Chieftains ]: Chieftains are the elevated class of War: they are versed in all fighting arts including aerial, weapons, and obstacle combat. They have, over their years, learned to excel in all their Clans requirements either through personal training or experience. All chieftains have trophies to show their wins: their abodes are a little larger and more decorated to prove their status.

gaia_star [ Executioner ]: Executioners are War Clan members specifically in charge of harvesting Fear, though they also show strong capabilities in the weapons arts, specifically with close range and bladed weapons. Executioners have very strong close range combat, and are the fastest of their tribe, capable of rendering a fatal kill with a single blow.

gaia_star [ Warrior ]: Warriors are clan members who are fight well in aerial combat. They fall from the sky to surprise their opponents, and are highly strong in long range combat with weapons such as spears and bows. They prefer to fight in small groups, of three of four, viciously overwhelming their opponents, and value the ability to strategize in groups.

gaia_star [ Queen's Soldier ]: The Queen's Soldier are those specifically elected by the Clan Leader/ their Queen to fight and protect their Clan. They are not only in charge of warding off hostile forces, but of course, also the protection and safeguarding of their clans. In the Human world, they are the ones who will set the traps against potential opposing forces. Soldiers work together in groups, and perform well with other classes, well versed in their ability to manipulate all obstacles and environments.
