Ever since Julie's mission, Sasha had been worthless. Her face was still red in spots from the grating it'd taken against Jerry's sweatervest. There were a few bruises on her arm and her shoulders. Sasha was certain that these would all fade in time. Thankfully there would be no lasting damage caused by the knocking Sasha had taken - however, there was one lingering ailment that was causing Sasha some worry; the lump on her head and the subsequent maladies it caused.

The past hours (or so) had been spent fighting random bouts of nausea, lasting headaches and a rather general sense of malaise. Nona had been nagging her to see someone about it all, but Sasha had been reluctant to cause anyone worry. It wasn't until she'd very nearly gotten sick all over her bed that Sasha dragged herself out of her dorm and wobble-shuffled all the way to the infirmary, clutching her kazoo as if it'd ward off the millions of knives that were slicing around inside of her skull.

It didn't. Even still, there was a small comfort in the silly plastic toy.

Hobbling into the empty infirmary, Sasha took the nearest seat she could find and promptly buried her face in her hands. If she wasn't approached by anyone soon, she'd force herself to crawl around piteously until she ran into someone that could help her. For now, though... for now, sitting right where she was felt really, really nice.

"Sasha..." the voice that interrupted her wait was masculine, familiar, and oddly gentle. If she looked up, the young trainee would find her division leader crouched in front of her. It wasn't clear if he'd just gotten there, or if he'd been been there for sometime, just that she was only now aware of his presence. Underneath the dramatics and wordplay, the doctor was a man who, by habit, moved very, very quietly.

Looking directly at her, he was neither smiling nor frowning, but instead his expression held a very careful stillness as he quietly asked, "What happened?"

Sasha slowly slid the palms of her hands down her face until the tips of her fingers rested on the apples of her cheeks. As if the lights caused her some sort of distress, she peered at the doctor through heavy-lidded eyes. Tucking her hair behind her ears, Sasha cleared her throat very softly before closing her eyes once more. Her hands dropped into her lap where they promptly grasped the yellow kazoo that had been left behind in favor of covering her eyes.

"The kitchen," she began as if that would shed some light on the situation. "Well.. Julie. You know, she uh. Well, the kitchen needed repairing? And so we all came to help and then the floor opened up. Like, beneath us? We fell. A bunch of us did, anyway. Ah.. I was feeling okay until um. Until Candace? She fell and landed on me. On uh. On Jerry and me. More like she fell on me and I squished Jerry."

Weakly she lifted a hand from her lap, gesturing in the general direction of her head. "I think.. I bumped my head or something. I have a r-really bad headache and ... I-I almost yucked in my bed." Talking wasn't so bad, really, until she thought about almost getting sick in bed. At that point she hiccuped a bit, corners of her mouth drawn down in a small, sad and almost pitiful little frown.

"I see..." the doctor began, softly. "Do you think you can stand and walk with me to the exam room?"

Giving a small, quiet laugh - a mere outward puff of breath - Sasha rested her palms on top of her thighs, rubbing against her jacket. She focused, for a brief moment, on how cool the fabric felt against her fingers before she lifted her eyes to meet those of the doctor.

"I think so," the young woman mumbled as she rose up from the chair. Very, very slowly. It honestly felt that any one single wrong move would send her into the yucks, and that was the last thing that Sasha wanted to do - especially in front of her division leader. No way, no how. It was already awful that she was here, hurt and in need of assistance. Yet another moment of weakness.

Nona's tone matched the doctor's in softness, though Nona's carried with it a sort of worry. Motherly, almost - move slow, breathe deep, gently now.

Crossing her arms over her chest Sasha gave the doctor the brightest smile she could as she waited for him to lead the way.

Finally he did smile, "Very good, my dear. Do as you can and I won't let you fall." Placing a hand against her back, he slowly ushered her toward the nearest examine room, thankfully empty. Rather than have Sasha at the table, he sat her down in one of the observation chairs, once again crouching to maintain eye contact with her. "Now how long has it been since the ah...accident?"

Sasha couldn't help but abruptly recall just how Jerry had mentioned that the doctor wasn't to be trusted and that she shouldn't listen to anything he said... or something to that effect. She also couldn't help but remember how Candace told her to be careful of him? It all seemed a little bizarre - the doctor was not only the lead of her division but he was also being so professional and gentle. Right now Sasha couldn't understand why either of them would've said such a thing - his soft words were exactly what she needed at this moment.

Sasha's brows furrowed. How long had it actually been? "I think just a few hours. Once I got out, I went back to my ah.. my dorm. And then I.. took a shower. Then another shower. I th-think after that I went back to my dorm but Nona wouldn't stop singing so I couldn't sleep." Sasha frowned. "I really wanted to sleep."

Making eye-contact with the doctor, Sasha blinked a few times as she wet her lips.

"I still want to sleep, but this headache.. and I've got a.. sore spot. Here," she waved a hand towards the back of her head. "Really, I'm sure I'm f-fine. Nona was just.. persistent that I get checked out."

"I'm glad you didn't wait too long to come by then, my dear. Your Nona was correct to send you here." He pulled out a thin black penlight, and, holding it up continued, "So many trainees hold off treatment, forgetting there's a hospital just across the lawn." Nevermind that he was one of the reasons most trainees avoided the infirmary until they learned that there were other doctors available there as well. Pocketing the penlight, he went on, "Nobody will think less of you for coming here after an injury. Now, what was I just holding up?"

Sasha ignored the way Nona preened when the doctor 'complimented' her.

"A penlight," Sasha mumbled tiredly, fighting the urge to let loose a jaw-cracking yawn. "I think I'm just tired. I .. I'm not whining, but it's been really busy lately. I thought the kitchen was just going to be like. Helping. And then there was the mission in the c-cave.. and the one before that. Honestly, sir, I haven't been sleeping real well since the mission where ah.. where .." she leaned in close to the doctor, whispering softly, "Sandy and.. Barney." Sasha cleared her throat.

"I'm sure you.. you know about all that." The young woman rubbed her temple with one hand, the other still clutching the yellow kazoo. Her eyes closed for a few heartbeats, opening once again on the doctor's face.

"Anyway, I'm so sorry for being a bother. I'm, ah.. I'm sure you have other things that are more important than looking after me." Oh, how she wanted to ask about that scar, just as badly as she'd wanted to ask Jerry about his. She tilted her head to the side and just stared at the doctor. He'd made her feel better about coming to the infirmary, that was certain.

The doctor nodded at the answer, and brought the pen back out, "If you have trouble recalling things after this, come tell me." He turned the light on, and shone it her eyes, on after the other before turning it off. "You very definitely have a concussion, my dear. As a hunter, you're much more...durable, in some ways, than normal humans. So it should go away in a matter of days, less if your bond with Nona is strong enough to speed the healing process along."

Pocketing the light, he gently reached out and brushed her hair out of her face, and simply looked back at her for several long, quiet moments. "As much...as it would please me to reassure you, Sasha, I'm afraid that this will not be the last time you find yourself in such a situation. Nor will it be last set of nightmares to keep you awake." He smiled again, a man who hadn't been plagued by any such nightmares in a very, very long time.

Finally, his hands shifted and began to carefully feel around the back of her head. "I'll give you a few things for the pain and swelling in the meantime. You will need to rest, however it's best if you don't do so unattended. If there's no one to take care of you in the dorms, you're free to stay in the labs overnight."

Sasha listened intently to each word that the doctor spoke. She nodded when it felt appropriate to do so. Nona was almost back to her old self again, though her voice in Sasha's mind still tainted with the slightest bit of worry despite her reassurances that yes, their bond was strong enough to speed the healing process along. However, when the doctor reached forward to brush errant strands of hair from Sasha's face, Nona fell suspiciously silent.

"I wish I had my flute," she breathed when the doctor mentioned nightmares. Maybe she'd be able to work through the various traumas with her music. Alas, all she had now was the plastic kazoo clutched desperately in one slender hand - and while the kazoo had been a gift and one she cherished, it was by no means a flute. Her flute. "M-my music always helped me before." Sasha refrained from ruminating further on the subject, especially to her division lead. She was certain she'd already made a bad first impression by nearly bursting into tears when Before had snapped at her at the North Pole.

A loud hiss of breath escaped from the trainee as the doctor examined her head. It hurt! When she was faced with the prospect of shuffling back to her room Sasha couldn't help but frown. She was obviously hesitant to waste more of the doctor's precious time, but.. Sasha really didn't want to make the trip back home.

"Maybe I'll just stay in the labs if you're certain I won't be a bother. I... I don't want to impose on anyone. I... thank you, doctor. You've been... so very kind." Sasha stifled a yawn with the back of her hand, finishing with a mumbled, "...be fine in the morning."

His expression gentled at the mention of her flute, of the importance it had played in her life, and his voice had an old lilt as he answered enigmatically, "Yes, it would, wouldn't it?" Finally, he removed his hands, and stood up, going to once of the cabinets and then to this sink.

When he returned to find her drowsy and yawning, he smiled, took one of her hands and carefully crapped it around a small paper cup, and then the other, placing several small, white pills in it. "Just some Tylenol, my dear. Take it now so the swelling and pain goes down a bit as you rest. I'll wake you every few hours for a while, just to make sure everything it okay, hm?"

Sasha wasn't quite sure what, if anything, the doctor meant by the comment he'd made - and her head ached in such a way that any kind of deep thinking simply wasn't going to happen. Not today.

Like the obedient young woman that Sasha was, she immediately tossed back the pills and flushed them down with the water that he'd given her. Nona cooed soothingly, clucking in a lyrical way. Almost adoringly Sasha stared up at the good doctor with a wide smile stretching her lips. She would have to give a stern talking-to both to Jerry and Candace. Besmirching the name of such a man. He was even offering to wake her up every few hours. Even if he'd exploded Clarice... it had only been a lesson, and a hard one to learn. It probably wasn't even one he enjoyed teaching. No, the man before her was a gentleman of the highest caliber, that much was obvious.

Clutching the paper cup in one hand and the kazoo in the other, Sasha gave the doctor a thankful look. "You really are too kind, doctor. If you'll ... just, ah. Where should I .. nap?" Yes, just a nap. A few hours, and she'd be right as rain.

As she complied, the doctor patted her head, careful to avoid the injury, and gently removed the cup from her hand, replacing it with a small cold pack. "Some place quiet. Can you walk a bit further, Sasha?"

Slipping the kazoo back into her pocket, Sasha clutched the cold pack with one hand and braced herself with the other. Nona was making sweet, encouraging sounds as Sasha slowly rose to her feet, wobbling for a brief moment - her hand shot out to grip the doctor's arm as she regained both her composure and her balance.

"It's not too far is it? I'm just.. tired, doctor." Her lips formed a slight, uncharacteristic pout as she sighed heavily, finding the prospect of walking undesirable. Although it was entirely impossible for the pills she'd swallowed to be taking effect just yet, Sasha couldn't fight the fuzziness that clogged her thoughts.

Would it be so terrible to just sit here in the chair and fall asleep? Sasha swayed where she stood, promptly closing her eyes as a wave of nausea washed over her. She didn't really need a quiet place... then again, she didn't want to argue with the doctor.
