Rangi sprinted through the forest across the outskirts of his tribe. Tonight he was practicing being a scout. He wasn't exactly being trained or tested, just testing out how much he'd actually like doing a scouts work every night or so. With both of his parents holding positions in the tribe, Rangi felt as if it was his duty to step up and take up a position of his own. But his siblings were training for the same jobs as his parents so Rangi had decided to go for something different.

So far, being a scout was pretty boring. Nothing had come onto the tribe lands its seemed, not even prey. Scouting the lands was seeming to be a pretty easy job.

The dark male stopped and sniffed the air, something he had routinely been doing throughout his run. Still nothing. Not a twig out of place. With a sigh, Rangi took off again, nearly finished with his search.

Rangi slowed his run to a steady trot has he neared the end of his circle. Seemed like tonight was just another boring night. It was no wonder his siblings were training for more interesting jobs. Nothing happened out he--

His thought was cut off as his nose picked up a scent that he didn't recognize. He stopped so suddenly he almost tripped over a branch. First he smelled her but as he stood frozen, he heard the faint voice of a vixen humming a tune in the night. She was headed straight towards the tribe!

Rangi took off again, running full speed this time. He found someone! It had been some time since anyone new visited the tribe lands. The dark male slowed some as he closed the distance between himself and the stranger.

"Hello there!" He called out once he was only a few paces or so behind the vixen. He could see her now, it was hard to miss that bright orange in the moonlight.

Rangi skidded to a halt when the vixen jumped at his startling her. On second thought, he probably should have been way more cautious, she could have been a violent fox. She seemed nice enough to him though. Although Rangi did start to feel very self concious and awkward once he realized the vixen was staring at him. Maybe she couldn't see him well? He didn't know but it was weird. No one had ever looked at him for so long. He was just another one of an Elders kids, nothing new or important about him.

He shifted his weight on his paws. What should he say now? Oh man, he totally didn't think this through. Should he be official and tell her she's on tribe lands? Or casual and just strike up a conversation and get to the tribe stuff later?

"Um... What brings you out this way, Miss?" Rangi internally sighed at his lame response. Miss? Really, what was he thinking? He should have played it cool, now he was going to look lame.

Excitement bubbled up inside of him. How long had it been since a new member joined their tribe? Surely not since Eon's mate had shown herself. It seemed that no one ever ventured out this far now days. But now a vixen stood before him searching for his tribe. And a cute vixen at that. Rangi swished his tail excitedly, but had to try hard to resist bouncing around with joy. He had to act professional. He was the son of an Elder and was talking to a possible new member of their tribe, this was a very important moment for him.

"Then you're in the right place. You've just entered the lands of the Lunarie Tribe, foxes of the night and worshipers of the Moon Fox." He held his head high as he spoke, proud to be a member of his tribe. "My name is Rangi. I am a member of the Lunarie Tribe and I must say it is a pleasure to meet you." He bowed to the vixen, very gentleman like.

Being that he hadn't been trained as a scout, Rangi really didn't know what to do next. Did the scouts of his tribe normally talk to "outsiders" here on the edge of the tribelands? Or did they bring them back to talk to Ari and his father? Surely the two elders had more important stuff to worry about tonight. So what now then?

Rangi racked his brain. He wasn't sure what to do and took a few seconds to decide. "Welcome Shar." He said rewelcoming her using her name this time. "As a scout, it my duty to provide you with information on our tribe and take you to visit out tribe elders if you wish to talk to someone with more authority than I." He convinently left out the part where he wasn't a real scout yet. The words scout-in-training made him feel as though he wasn't qualified to handle such a situation.

"So what can I do for you?"

"The Lunarie Tribe is a very peaceful and friendly tribe, no one in our tribe would rudely welcome you or turn you away." Rangi said proudly. He knew of tribes, or heard rumors of them really, that we hostile and rude and was glad to say his tribe was the opposite of those. Rangi sat down as he launched into what almost seemed like a lecture about his tribe.

"The Lunarie Tribe is a gathering of nocturnal foxes. We function durning the night and sleep once the sun comes up. We have two Elders, Ari and Nato. Being a nocturnal tribe, we worship the moon and the Moon Fox, the deity that watches over our tribe. Our tribe Guardian watches over us for the Moon Fox." He paused to see if Shar was still listening before he continued.

"To join, you simply have to speak with the Elders of our tribe. They will decide if you are loyal to the Moon Fox and if your personality fits in with the tribe. Usually, most foxes who live in the night that seek out our tribe have no problem in joining. As for positions available, I'm not sure what's open right now." He paused again and thought. "I think I remember my father talking about a need for hunters. As for all positions, we have the Hunters, who obviously hunt. Scouts, like myself, who scout the lands for food and foxes. The Shamans are the healers of our tribe. Careers look after the kits and many times care for the sick the Shamans are tending to. And last but not least are the Gatherers. They collect herbs for the Shamans to use and help the Hunters bring in food."

After he was finished he sat thoughtfully for a moment. "We do have a lot of members but not all of them are always around" A bright smile found it's way to his face, his teeth shone in the moonlight. "Of course I'll be your buddy! You'll be the first friend I've ever had who wasn't already a member of my tribe." He finished excitedly.
