Indilwen ran. She ran as far and as fast as she could. Yet she could never get away, it was never fast enough, she never traveled far enough. When would it be enough? When would she be far enough that she would never feel the pain of that wound again? Never. Part of her thought. Perhaps it would never be enough, no matter what it did. Perhaps only time could ever heal the wound of his betrayal. All of the hiding, all of the lies. What good had they done? Why hadn't he simply told her the truth from the start? Hadn't she deserved it? Didn't she have a right to know?

Deep down Indilwen knew she was being irrational, that her father hadn't ever meant to hurt her. She knew that he was truly only ever looking out for her, yet she couldn't come to terms with that. She simply couldn't understand why he had done what he had. She simply needed time. Time to comprehend, and time to cope.

Slowing to a walk, the mare began to survey her surroundings. She was in a place far from her herd, somewhere where she had never been before. The land looked a good deal different from her home, yet there were plenty of similarities. She supposed that the only real difference was likely weather. Perhaps this are received more or less rain and that was the cause for the different plants in the region. Really, the mare found it quite fascinating. Had she been in a better state, she might stop to examine them. However, her mind was racing so fast that she simply did not have the mental capacity to retain any sort of information that she might discover at that moment. Spotting a small creek to the left, Indilwen made her way towards it.
