Sometimes it is difficult for us to learn some grammatical lessons because the material is rather dry and boring. As educating as it might be it is boring reading a text book.

So let us try this the Electric Company way...too 70s? Really The Electric Company from then was rather good. How about Sesame Street then?

Enter webcomics by The Oatmeal. Although the examples are silly it is entertaining and for the most part educating on some common grammatical errors we tend to make.

Apostrophe
Semi-colon
I.E.
Being literal
Irony
10 Words We Need to Stop Misspelling Sorry the Lay, lie, laid explanation is not included.
Flesh vs Flush

That is all that they have for now. I hope that you find these useful.

For me it's and its I learned by something like his apostrophe comic. I can not recall the exact thing but it was something like that.

It's I learned meant it is by thinking that the apostrophe is the dot over the 'i' minus the line of the body.

By knowing that it became easy for me to rule out that its meant possession.

Also for a long time when I couldn't get the two of them right I wouldn't bother to use the contractions of the word.

This is not one of The Oatmeal's comics since he doesn't have one on this subject as of yet. But it addresses the Lie vs Lay issue in a nice way that's better than just looking at a blackboard...ugh I mean a dry erase board.

This comes from the Munro Leaf (the man who gave us The Story of Ferdinand) book, Grammar Can be Fun published in 1934 and republished as a hardback in 1962.
