... as well as funny to me

http://now.msn.com/now/0318-atheists-unbless-highway.aspx

Can an atheist tell me, why do they pick on Christians? The main reason, I stay miss informed about anything, is news like that. It seems stupid that they "unbless" something that Christians blessed. Isn't doing that saying that you believe that God exists, though you believe his blessings are bad for people? And that people spreading oil in his name, is also bad.... confused

The ends don't seem to add up to me... And it makes me more and more confused about this "modern" era. It seems to me that they are just trying to push the Christian community into a fight. So they can point a finger... and say "See, See..."

Eh, I have to agree more and more with, what someone said... True Christians and True southerners, could care less if you make fun of them.

Atheists do just want a reaction... common bully behavior.

It does seem like their trying to get a reaction. The best thing to do is to ignore it or just laugh. It's kinda funny when you think about it. "Unholy Water"? It sounds like a LARP session. Also they don't believe in this stuff anyway so I mean it's not like they are really doing anything than just washing the highway. You also have to remember Christianity down in Florida is closely linked with the Republican party and Dominionism. When you look at the things they are trying to get passed as law like removing public education, the war on women, and other insane legislation, you can kinda understand why they would be so reactionary.

I wouldn't take it personal.

I don't take it personally, I just find it highly confusing. A + B doesn't equal C.

Also, I don't have to remember it... I never knew, the tie between Christian and Republican... or any party.

But, ether way it still sounds like the rich trying to push their way on others. And it is those, doesn't matter the religion, that gives a bad name. Sad part is, it is done so much, with modern religions. If we could get the rich to shut up for three seconds, we could find so much knowledge and peace.

I forget the verse, But, Jesus said, "It is easier to get a camel though the eye of a needle, than a rich man into heaven."

(yay, I am not the only one that drew a line back to an rp lol)

To them, it's just as confusing to bless the road in the first place. Some people are probably insulted that public roads are being blessed.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:54 pm

Why would they be insulted?

If nothing else, they are cleaning and spreading olive oil on the road. It is a free service to the community, if you believe or not. Same with mopping the road with water. I really don't see how people can take any more than that from the act in the first place...

The road gets a little tlc, and everyone jumps saying it is bad, because x group did it. If it was a group of rapists, child molesters, or murderers, that did it no one would have said a thing...

Unholy water... oil of intolerance? If you ask me, that group of atheists are the intolerant ones.

I will never understand, the people in this world.

I think atheists are becoming more and more religious.... xD
This is complete and utter silliness. If you don't believe in religion, then blessing means nothing, therefore... why un-bless a highway...? It's something positive for religious people and it's something that doesn't affect atheists at all....
I should mention that I am an atheist, but I'm starting to reject the label now that they're getting together in groups and performing acts like this, as if not believing is in itself becoming a religion. I don't want people to think that because I am an atheist, I think all religion is wrong or bad and want to spend my life fighting about it. If anything I'm without any religious belief whatsoever because it provides greater peace of mind for me personally. But it seems that many atheists are out to seek vengeance? I have to wonder what experiences they've had in their lives or what they've heard to drive them to do such silly things.

Amen. Yeah the rich people who are trying to oppress us need to stop trying to co-op our culture/religion and trying to turn it into a tool to perpetuate their oppression.

Why would people be insulted? It's flag waving. Flag Waving being an arrogant, self righteous activity.

Sorry, I just viewed it as doing something for the community. I didn't mean to cause anything.

It seems stupid. I don't have anything against atheists as a whole, but that's just dumb. True atheists wouldn't believe they were doing anything holy or unholy to the road; they'd just think that they were just dumping water on it.
It's confusing. People can be crazy.

Also if they are washing away the "oil of intolerance" wouldn't that technically make it holy water XD.

Sure sounds like it... xD
The more I think about it, the more it confuses me.
