Is it a sin (mortal or venial) to wonder about the existance of God. I'm Catholic and I believe in God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, but sometimes I wonder, teachers tell me that the Roman, Greek, Aztec, Egyptian, Santerian, etc. were never real, "only God is real". Sometimes I wonder if those gods don't exist, what makes God different from the rest. And I'm not questioning Catholicism, its only curiosity.

Catholicism is pretty liberal when it comes to questioning the existence of God. You may want to find a more academic/philosophical Catholic for assistance.

Why would it be a sin to wonder about the existence of other deities?

It could be a sin because it says in the Ten Commandments, " Thou shall not worship false gods". But, I'm not sure, I just want to know if it is a sin if anyone knows.

It says thou shalt not worship them. It says nothing about considering the possibility that they exists.
