When Chris had stepped outside to walk his dog nearly half an hour ago, he hadn't gone out expecting it to rain at random. In hindsight, he probably should have checked the weather channel before venturing out, but with the way many others had scrambled under trees and other various shelters when it began to drizzle, he had a feeling that the weather channel wouldn't have been able to prepare him, anyway.

He glanced out from under the small roof he was currently standing under, waiting for the rain to pass. It wasn't really a shelter to begin with. It was an information box with a map of the park and various other fliers posted here and there. The roof above it was barely two feet wide on either side, but since he was decently tall, he didn't have to worry about getting too wet from the runoff.

Well, his preppy looking, leather boat shoes were getting splashed, as well as his bare shins (since of course he chose to wear shorts that day), and Annabel Lee, the three year old Finnish Spitz, didn't seem to enjoy the drizzle either.

In fact, Chris couldn't stop her in time from deciding she was too wet and shook her entire sixteen square inch body free from the lingering water droplets, spraying some girl standing nearby.

"Anna!" he scolded, although he couldn't really blame her for being uncomfortable. "I'm so sorry," he quickly apologized to the girl, looking up at her for the first time since they'd both ducked out of the rain.

Lene made a little surprised noise when she found herself suddenly sprayed with rainwater, despite the fact that she had been looking down at the dog already (a walk in the park on a good day was basically a constant parade of adorable dogs and she was going to stare at all of them) and she had just enough time to realize what was about to happen. Not enough time to brace herself for it, though.

It wouldn't have mattered much anyway. The rain had caught everyone by surprise after all and Lene's legs had already begun to get that awful rain-on-bare-skin itch on the backs of her calves that might have been an entirely psychosomatic reaction. There was something particularly unpleasant about city rain. Especially when the sky had promised sunny to partly cloudy until, oh, say, five minutes ago. Her mother would say the devil and his wife were fighting. There was a stormy twist to the clouds over them, but it didn't seem likely to last.

"It's alright, really," she said with a wide, slightly embarrassed smile - as though it were her fault - and raised her hands in a placating gesture. It was the first time she'd really looked at who she was sharing her shelter with. Dogs tended to have that effect on her. "Sort of funny how they do that." Lene was talking about the shaking, of course, which was something she honestly wished she could do herself right now.

"Anna is her name? Such a pretty girl!" Her voice threatened to change of its own volition into that high, sweet tone dogs seemed uniquely capable of eliciting. Lene had to clear her throat quietly to make it stop. "What sort of dog is she?" She guessed Shiba, but she was rotten at this sort of thing, having only ever owned cats... and no one ever cared what breed a cat was. Unless it was a Siamese.

Anna seemed completely unaware of the other human standing nearby until she heard her name. It was a happy reaction, of course! One that had her doing something of a double take up at the girl, before immediately wiggling around in excitement, thrilled to get more attention.

Chris was also glad, especially by the fact that this girl didn't seem too fazed by the sudden spray of water. Maybe a little surprised, but that was to be expected. He gave his dog a rather exasperated look when she took more interest in the girl, and Chris was sure she would roll over onto her back to have her belly rubbed if he wasn't holding the leash so she couldn't. It was too muddy and wet and even though he had to give her a bath already, he didn't want to make his chore even more difficult to accomplish.

"Annabel Lee, officially... but she only responds to Anna. On good days," he said with a small sigh, glancing curiously over at the pink haired girl. As for what sort of dog she was, he was sorely tempted to joke about how she was a brat, but decided to save this girl from his lame sense of humor. At least for now.

"She's a Finnish Spitz," he said instead, which would explain her fox-like appearance to those who knew more about different dog breeds. He himself only knew so much, but was willing to research the breeds of different dogs brought into the shelter he volunteered at.

He glanced over at the girl with a small smile, a bit sheepish as he was still embarrassed by his dog's behavior. "Chris Gallo," he introduced, figuring it was only polite to do so after Anna had sprayed her with water and was now bouncing around her feet, wanting to be petted.
