That day, when Wilson woke up he decided he wanted to do Deathsweeper. No, not really he didn’t actually want to—okay yeah he did. It wasn’t that he intentionally wanted to put himself through pain and death because Allan-taichou had given him plenty of aches for the time being. What Wilson wanted to know was if he had improved at all since his last attempt at Deathsweeper. Last time he managed to the fifth step (shocking) and then promptly died afterwards. Maybe he would be able to go farther this time.
Or maybe he would die miserably on the first step. Deathsweeper seemed more like a game of luck than training death hunters.
But when he finally arrived to the course he just couldn’t bring himself to get into a golem, not yet. Dying a miserable death, fake or not, seemed incredibly lonely by himself.
So he decided to send a message to Reine and see if she wanted to die too train with him.

One particular intermediate life trainee was tearing through the compound, as if something was after her. There was, as a matter of fact, nothing chasing her, she was just high- on coffee. The stuff was surprisingly good, once you got past the bitterness, and unaccustomed to the effects of caffeine, Reine felt an intense desire to run a billion training courses.
Wilson's message was met with a broad grin, and just a few seconds later, Reine arrived, practically jumping up and down on the spot.
"HI WILSON HI WILSON HI."
Was there something weird about her today...?
"SO DID YOU WANT TO RUN DEATHSWEEPER, I LOVE DEATHSWEEPER."
At least he wouldn't have to worry about the anger issues.

It hadn’t taken Reine long to respond. In fact, was it him or had the wait only been a few seconds until the white-haired trainee arrived? Wilson had slipped his hands into his pockets, but once Reine yelled and jumped, his hands flew out and in front of him. His eyes grew wide as his smile took on a nervous look. “HI!...” The yell had been purely reflexive. Now that the initial shock was over, he slowly relaxed and took in Reine’s unusual burst of energy. “You seem really energetic today. Did something happen?” Yes. Coffee had happened.
He cocked an eyebrow. She loved Deathsweeper? But Deathsweeper was very painful—To each their own, he supposed. “Um. Yeah, I did—oh, is that jacket new?” ‘v’ The trim hadn’t gone unnoticed by Wilson.

It seemed like she hadn't heard Wilson's first question, bouncing past him towards the portal towards the deathsweeper course. Nevermind the painful 'deaths' she'd had to go through before- Reine was too hopped up on coffee to really care- at least until she fell into a trap, or the like, probably. Either way, she had all the confidence in the world that she was going to get through this, for the first time.
"You noticed it!!" Reine twirled happily, showing off the new jacket. "It's kinda nice, isn't it? Fancier than the old one, but doesn't get in the way too much." Flashing Wilson a grin, the life trainee ran straight into the portal, waving her arm at him, a gesture that probably meant something like 'hurry up, follow me!'
At the very least she'd remembered to get into a golem before actually entering the training course.

Death Hunter DEATHSWEEPER General Information The large stone cavern with the tiled floor and large yellow smiley face is likely familiar to at least several trainees, and may even feature in a few nightmares from time to time. Welcome to Deathsweeper, the training course that may only be attempted via c-type golem, and often acts as a testing ground for the Life Division's more painful creations. Stealth and detecting imminent danger are vital for Death Hunters and anyone who has to spend extended amounts of time near Caelius. The Deathsweeper chamber is full of hidden traps that only the finest of survival instincts can survive unscathed.
If you fail: you get to once again relive the sensation of dying. Painfully and sometimes quite strangely.
If you win: you have survived stepping 5 tiles into the room. Anything further is purely for peen and bragging rights.
Mechanics roll 1 d10 check for hp loss and death decide whether or not to use your bonuses if you survive, repeat. roll list: the traps are ICly constantly changing, so feel free to get creative as to what exactly those traps are! -50% HP is off your full HP, so if you hit -50% twice, then you are 100% KO'd
01. horrible death 02. - 50% HP 03. live 04. live 05. - 50% HP 06. - 50% HP 07. horrible death 08. - 50% HP 09. live 10. horrible death
Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. All participants get a flag, this flag will allow your character to notice something about the area they're stepping into. OOCly this means you can adjust your rolled number, up or down, by one point. Instinctive moves are used in the same manner as flags. These are stackable, so if you have 1 flag + 1 instinctive move, you can use them up in order to adjust your roll by two.
(If you roll a 1, you may not move your number down to 0, -1, or 10. And 10 cannot be adjusted to 1 or 11.)

Deathsweeper. Oh, deathsweeper. Sweet, sweet deathsweeper. Reine hopped right onto the stone floor, her fingers crossed. Some part of her was expecting to be blown to shreds the moment her feet touched the ground- but luckily, nothing happened.
It was almost disappointing, until you remembered that the only thing that happened in Deathsweeper was pain. And a lot more pain. Grinning, Reine looked behind her, trying to see where Wilson was.
"THIS IS REALLY FUN," she called out. "COME ON, WILSOOOOOOOOONNNNNN!"Status Step: 1HP: 50 Flags: 1 Instinctive moves: 0

Wilson was beginning to wonder if Reine had eaten something special today. Maybe she had discovered a hidden stash of sugar, in which case he silently wished she had informed him of it as well. Maybe she had decided gulping down lots of caffeinated coffee was an excellent. Maybe she had decided that candy and coffee made for an excellent meal. He didn’t know, but she must have taken something. He nodded, still smiling when she twirled around to show him her new jacket. Wilson would have answered her, but the life trainee had already bounced through the portal.
Chuckling, he ambled after her.
Unlike Reine, he was a bit more cautious. When he entered the course, he looked at the tiles around him, wondering which one can I taaaaake? to take. “Hold on,” he replied, deciding to take out his flag—it was never too early to use the flag!—and let it clatter to the floor.
It disappeared. What the—
There was a boom somewhere beneath him.
…yeah that settled it. Not that tile. At least the next one was safe.Status Step: 1 HP: 50/50 Flags: USED Instinctive moves: 1
