Yes, so I am going to attempt to execute this idea I've been thinking about for a long time now. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. OBVIOUSLY I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING RELATED TO HARRY POTTER. I AM NOT JK ROWLING. The idea for this RP is my own, but everything it is based off of was created by JK Rowling. The Premise:
You all know the story of the boy who lived and He Who Must Not Be Named; Harry Potter bravely faced and defeated Lord Voldermort, with the help of his beloved friends, and six years of study at the renowned Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's been twenty years since that time. Ever since the Dark Lord was defeated, life has gone on unhinged in the magical world. Peace and happiness prolong, and harmony lies over all creatures of the magical, and muggle world.
But such a thing is not meant to last.
Something is brewing beneath the noses of all seers, magical creatures, and witches/wizards alike. A dark force that threatens to bring the world to it's knees is growing. As the story progresses, this part will begin to become more clear.
One thing that is clear is that a change is beginning in the magical world. Even those who are unaware of it can feel it. Dragons, the most powerful and feared mythical creature, are beginning to grow rampant about the land. They are usually volatile, hostile creatures, but recently they have become more than just dangerous. They have become unruly, and bloodthirsty. At the same time, something else happened, something unfathomable and miraculous. An ordinary girl, though a witch of pure-blood, bonded to one of these malevolent creatures. At the age of 4, she found a dragon, and somehow the two became one, fused to their very souls. No one can explain it, and the entire matter has been kept very secret due to the very nature of it. Now, she is 11, and about to attend her first year at Hogwarts with her dragon companion to accompany her, although hidden in secrecy within the dark woods. And this is where our story begins.
Now, pact partners aren't completely unheard of in our world, although very rare. Only 2 have been known to exist in all of time: Salazar Slytherin and his Basilisk, and Albus Dumbledore and his Phoenix, Faux. But never has anyone ever dreamed of a dragon bonding with someone, because dragons are the most powerful mythical creatures, the most dangerous, and the most impervious to a wizard's magic.

Rules:
1. My RP, my word is law. Disobey it, you'll get a warning. Disobey it again, I'll ban you.
2. Consistency. If you join, and post for a few days then never show up again, your character will turn into an NPC, and will turn into a background character that people know, but holds no importance to the story. If you're gone for a month without any word, I will not let you retake your character, and you can't RP here anymore. Simple as that. Now obviously we all have lives, so if you give me a heads up you can't RP for awhile, then that's fine. Your character will be safe as long as you key me in on things.
3. Literacy. I'm a literate RPer so I want Literate people to join. Two solid paragraphs per post, AT LEAST. We all have writers block and that's cool, just don't make it a habit. No text speak, or incomplete sentences. I want your characters to have depth, and develop as the story progresses. We all have strengths, and weaknesses, so, so should your characters. If you need to make an OOC comment, put (OOC: and your message) in your post. Needless to say, as a literate RPer, don't godmod or play unfairly. If you're a good writer, and a reasonable person, you can play nicely. You'll win some, you'll lose some, you'll triumph, and you'll get hurt. It happens. I don't do any rolling the dice bs, so if you're in a duel or something, work it out with the other person and make it realistic.
4. If you're a first year, your house will be decided on the first day of school (which is first come first serve, since once the RP starts and the dinner ceremony happens, no more first years will be able to join). Higher years will have their houses already chosen. You all may choose the house you want, but keep in mind I want things to be balanced, so if there's too many kids in one house, I'll ask you to choose a different one. Also, keep in mind your year dictates what classes you can take to a degree.
5. Do not ask me if you can be a dragon rider or a pact partner. My character will be the only one for now, so don't even try to put it in your profile. As the story progresses, and if it lasts long enough, more pact partners will begin to crop up and I will choose who can become one, based on how good an RPer you are, how well you listen, how often you're here, and how well you get along with everyone else.
6. Cursing is okay, I don't care what you say. Romance is encouraged, but keep it PG-13. No one wants to get in trouble with Gaia.
7. PM your profiles to me with the title HPRP, and do not post until you are accepted by me.
8. The rules are subject to change, but I will let you know if I have changed anything.
9. The MOST important rule; Have loads of fun, and play nice!

The Houses of Hogwarts
Gryffindor: Those with a lion's heart who possess courage, bravery, loyalty, nerve and chivalry are most suited for this house. Neville Longbottom, the Herbology teacher, is the Head of the House, and Nearly Headless Nick still wanders about his beloved house as the house ghost. If you don't remember, or didn't read the book/see the movie, here's a little bit about the house: The Gryffindor common room is located in one of the castle's highest towers, the entrance to which is located on the seventh floor in the east wing of the castle and is guarded by a painting of The Fat Lady, who always wears a pink dress. She permits entry only after being given the correct password that only members of the house know. Most of the decorations are in scarlet and gold (the house colors). It has plush carpets, comfortable lounging chairs, a beautiful fireplace, and a few dark oak tables for books and other such things. The dormitories split off from the common room via 2 spiraling staircases. One staircase leads up to the girl's dorms, and the other goes to the boy's dorms. Girls may go into the boys dorms, but if a boy tries to run up the stairs into the girl's dorms, the stairs flatten into a slide sending them back into the common room. The reason for this, no one knows...but Godric Gryffindor was a gentleman, so it probably has something to do with that. The rooms are circular, with the beds lining around the center staircase, like a flower. Here are your fellow classmates: 1. 2. 3.
Slytherin: Quick witted serpents who are ambitious, cunning, possess leadership skills, resourcefulness, and most of all, pure wizard blood will probably find themselves in this house. The head of the house is Fenton Crucia, the Arithmancy professor. Bloody Baron, the house ghost, still haunts the halls, favoring his house students and tormenting those who are not. The Slytherin dormitories and common room are reached through a bare stone wall in the dungeons that needs a password to access; only Slytherin students know the password. The Slytherin common room is a long, low, dungeon-style room, located under the Hogwarts Lake, furnished with green lamps, which give it a ghastly greenish glow, and carved armchairs with cushioned seats. There is regular lighting, if students care to use the common room for studying, and a fireplace for those dreadfully cold nights. The chimney ends in a tiny square vent that lies against Hogwarts Castle, upon the shore of the lake where they meet. Most of the decor is in green and silver (the house colors). Two gloomy halls branch off into different parts of the dungeons for the dorm rooms: one for girls, one for boys. There is no restriction on either room; boys and girls can walk freely among both halls. The bed are lined against either side of the walls, facing each other in typical boarding style. Pure bloods are usually favored when being sorted into this house, although half bloods and muggle-borns can be placed into this house if they are best suited for it (it is less common than pure bloods being placed here; however, the discrimination against those that aren't pure blooded has diminished a lot since Voldermort's demise). Here are your fellow classmates: 1. 2. 3.
Ravenclaw: The mighty eagle is the mascot of this house, and favors those who are intelligent, creative, eager to learn, and possess superb wit. Decorations are in blue and bronze (the house colors). The Grey Lady is the house ghost, and the Head of the House is Felicia Phillis, the new Transfiguration professor. The dormitories are located in Ravenclaw Tower on the west side of the school. The common room is round and filled with blue hangings and fat armchairs. It has a domed ceiling painted with stars, and features a replica statue of Rowena wearing her diadem. By day, the Ravenclaws have a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. A logical riddle must be solved to gain entry, making it different from all other houses. Other students not in this house may be able to gain access to the Ravenclaw's common room if they possess enough clever wit, and intelligence to answer the riddle right. Their dorm rooms mimic that of Gryffindor's house, being that both are in towers. Students have free reign of all parts of the towers (including dormitories). Here are your fellow classmates: 1. Io Aleera Delcario 2. 3.
Hufflepuff: The badger holds dear hard work, tolerance, loyalty, and fair play. The house colors are canary yellow and midnight black, which most of the decor is in. The Fat Friar is the house ghost, and the Head of the House is the Charms professor, Elisa Flemmington. The Hufflepuff dormitories and common room are located somewhere in the basement. The entrance is found behind a still life painting (i.e: a normal painting; it does not move as most magical pictures do) somewhere near the kitchens, and a password is required for entry. Only Hufflepuff students know the password. The Hufflepuff common room is filled with yellow hangings and fat armchairs and it has little underground tunnels leading to the dormitories, all of which have perfectly round doors, like barrel tops (much like a badger - go figure). Each bed is nestled in a cosy nook of the oval dorms, and students may roam free within the house. Here are your fellow classmates: 1. 2. 3.

Professors&Classes
This is a list of the classes you can take at Hogwarts, and the professors who teach it. The descriptions for each class I used my own knowledge for, as well as Wikipedia and the hp-lexicon website. Also, I pulled up as many books for the classes as I could find; Keep in mind that the book you get depends on your year (this should be obvious). Every student can take a maximum of 5 classes, unless you have received special permission from the Headmaster to take more (as Hermione did in year 3). In your profile, you will choose the 5 classes you wish to take, and I will give you your schedule, and add it into the bottom of your profile. It would be too complicated for me to give you the scheduling here, so lets keep it simple like this. First and Second years have little to no flexibility with the classes they have to take due to required classes.
Headmaster: Professor Minerva Mcgonagall
1. Ancient Runes taught by Professor Rinildus Kopernikus: In this class, students learn how to read, and translate ancient languages, artifacts, and runes of the magical world. Classwork/homework includes plenty of practice interpreting runes, and essays. The classroom is located in the basement of Hogwarts. The books include several rune dictionaries, Ancient Runes Made Easy, Magical Hieroglyphs and Logograms, and Spellman's Syllabary. This is only available once a student has become a Third year, and older.
2. Apparition taught by Professor Lochan Vector: This class teaches students how to teleport. It is taught during brief periods in the Great Hall, when the spell to prevent Apparating is lifted long enough to conduct the class. Because this is very dangerous, it is allowed only to Sixth, and Seventh year students; it is an optional class. There are no books for this class, and no homework since you can only practice during allotted times.
3. Astronomy taught by Professor Aurora Sinistra: Students learn about the stars, planets, moons, etc. and how to read them. It includes observing the night sky through a telescope, learning the names of stars, constellations and planets, and their location, movements, and environments, etc. Homework consists of essays, labeling star diagrams, etc. The class meets at midnight in the Astronomy Tower (THE highest tower in Hogwarts). There are several astronomy books for this class. It is available to all students.
4. Arithmancy taught by Professor Fenton Crucia: In this class, students learn the magical properties of numbers. It is a very difficult class, and requires students to memorize formulas, numerical charts, etc. The books for this class are extremely heavy for good reason. The classroom is located on the 4th floor. It is not available to students until their Third year, and up.
5. Care of Magical Creatures taught by Professor Luna Longbottom: Students learn how to care for magical creatures in this class. Classwork consists of handling, feeding, and controlling various kinds of mythical creatures, and homework consists of reading about what you're learning about, essays, drawing/labeling diagrams, etc. It is taught outside of the castle, on Hogwarts grounds. The books include Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, and The Monster Book of Monsters, which is quite literally a monster of a book. Don't forget to stroke the seam of it! It is available beginning your Second year.
6. Charms taught by Professor Elisa Remmington: The class that teaches how to develop incantations for bewitchment; it teaches a type of magic spell concerned with giving an object new and unexpected properties. Homework is just to practice the spells you learn in class! It is taught on the second floor, and is a required class for the first 5 years of schooling.
7. Defense Against the Dark Arts taught by Professor Hudu Lacoft: Students learn about dark magic, and evil creatures, and how to cope with them. Students are taught defensive techniques to protect them from black magic, and dark creatures. Each year, the class progresses to more powerful dark magics/creatures, and more powerful protection spells/mechanisms against them. Homework includes practicing, and reading. Harry Potter is a guest speaker sometimes. The books are The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self Protection, Defensive Magical Theory, Confronting the Faceless, etc. It is taught on the third floor, and is required for the first 4 years of schooling.
8. Divination taught by Professor Firenze: This class teaches students how to predict the future. Subjects include reading tea leaves, palms, tarot cards, crystal balls, signs in the changes of nature, etc. The books include Unfogging the Future, and The Dream Oracle. It is taught on the ground floor, near the Great Hall. it is available to students beginning their Third year.
9. Flying taught by Professor Aeria Vertican: Obviously, this class teaches students how to fly on broomsticks. This class is only available to, and required by First year students.
10. Herbology taught by Professor Neville Longbottom: It is the study of magical plants, and how to take care of, utilize, and/or combat them. The book for this class is One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi. It takes place in the greenhouses upon the school grounds. It is available at any time to students.
11. History of Magic taught by Professor Janice Underwood: Naturally, this class teaches about magical history. How spells were found, famous wizards, ancient wars, goblin riots, and other such topics are explored in this class. The book for this class is called A History of Magic. It is available at any time to students, and is taught on the second floor.
12. Muggle Studies taught by Professor Angus Littleroot: This class teaches students about muggle culture, and technologies. Anything and everything about muggles is discussed here to help witches/wizards blend in better in the muggle world. The book for this class is Home Life and Social Habits of British Muggles. It is available to students at any time, but is required for study at least 1 year before graduation.
13. Potions taught by Professor Leeroy Alchem: This class teaches students how to create magical concoctions with various materials. The workload consists of memorizing the properties of various potion ingredients, the composition of specific potions, and practice preparing them, as well as essays on the properties of potion ingredients (and occasionally analyzing how a student's practical assignment specifically went wrong and how to correct it). It requires the correct mixing and stirring of ingredients at the right times and temperatures, so it is a bit of a tricky science. This class is similar to a lab class (meaning it is usually a double period), and is taught in the dungeons somewhere near the Slytherin common room. The books for this class are Magical Drafts and Potions, One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, andAdvanced Potion-Making. It is required for the first 5 years of schooling.
14. Transfiguration taught by Felicia Phillis: This class teaches students how to change the properties of an object, and how to change one object into another. Students will learn the laws governing Transfiguration (ex: Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration), and how to use transfiguration spells. The spells include vanishing spells, conjuring spells, switching spells (changing parts of an object like your nose for a pig's nose), changing inanimate object into animate ones and vice versa, and untransfiguration spells (reversing things to their proper state). The books for this class are The Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration, Intermediate Transfiguration, and Guide to Advanced Transfiguration. It is taught on the fourth floor, and is required for the first 5 years of schooling.

Profiles
Okay, here's the deal. You can be ANY character you want, including characters from the books (as long as they did not die in the book). However, if you are going to be a character from the Harry Potter books, keep in mind how old they are now, and therefore what they are doing now. If you're going to be a child of one of the original characters, that's okay too but make sure you read the Epilogue of the book then so you get it right. This RP takes place 20 years after the last Harry Potter book, so 1 year after the Epilogue. I don't want Harry Potter attending Hogwarts as a student when he already has 3 kids, got it? Aside from Mcgonagall, Luna Lovegood, and Neville Longbottom (who I already dictated as professors at Hogwarts), I don't care what profession you make anyone. Also, you may be one of the premade professors at Hogwarts if you want as long as you keep their name the same, and the subject they teach. Everything else is whatever you want it to be. Now remember the first year you attend Hogwarts is 11 years old, so 2nd years are 12, 3rd years 13, and so on. Once I post your profile in the profile thread, and give you the okay, you can start posting!
Profile Skeleton:
Username: (Your Gaia name) Name: (The name of your Character here) Age: (Your character's age) Appearance: (only anime pictures please, and try to pick one that best reflects your age. I don't want any 11 year olds looking like 27 year old women.) Race: (This could be human race, or a mythical race like a vampire or whatever. Keep in mind though that if you pick a nonhuman race, that'll alter your experience at Hogwarts. Also, I won't accept anything crazy like half demon hybrid or some alien nonsense. Keep it reasonable.) Bloodline: (Pureblood, Halfblood, or Muggle-born) Personality: What your character is like. Be as detailed as you want, but please at least a solid paragraph. Biography: Your character's story. Again, be as detailed as you want, but at least one good paragraph. Profession: (Student, Professor, Auror, Ministry worker, etc. etc. For those of you who do not pick student, you can stop here if you want unless you'd like to add your house when at school, and something in the Other section.) Hogwarts House: (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff. If you're an alumni, you can still put this if you want. We all started at the same place, right? ) Year: (If you are a student) Classes: (Pick the 5 classes you're taking here. Keep in mind the restrictions I put on, explained in the Classes section. I will fill in the time slots for your classes when you send me your profile, so make sure you check your profile for your schedule once it is posted in the forum) Other: (Anything else you want to add that isn't covered above)
