The Start of a Journey (Entry)
Managing to make it out on his own and finding that the world was much more colder than he'd expected. Tin had rolled out from down a mountain and found himself in front of an endless plain. Grass shimmering beneath the fading sunlight. Why was the sun fading? He wondered as the world slowly grew darker. A tremor seemed to have happened that moment resounding from what he thought was the roar of some mighty beast off in the distance. He peeped, a strange sort of peep. One that was far different from the other Torchic's that he's met. It sounded much like Tin tin and that's what landed his name, Tin. Ruffling his feathers as he prepared himself for the worst, such as a charge from a rhydon or something of the sort. He wasn't much of a fighter, but that doesn't mean he wasn't going to try.
The air around him seemed to cool, moisture collecting. He squinted his large iridescent eyes at the horizon and watched in horror as a blackened cloud rolled towards him. Lights seem to dance within it as low rumbles followed. It was what was beneath the clouds that frightened him. A gray haze rolling across the plains, heading straight towards him. What the heck is this!? He thought, frustration filling him besides dread. Is that rain? By a scyther's blade, it's heading straight for me! The scent of musty earth filled his nostrils as the rain drew closer. Ruffling his feathers, Tin made a run for it. Flapping his wings in panic. He couldn't think of much at this point, but to run and where to? As he drew near to the mountain side once more, little legs feeling as if they were going to give out sometime soon, he spotted a crevice to dive into.
Taking a chance, he veered into it's direction and propelled himself right into the hole, rolling in the darkness just as the rain began to fall upon the mountain side. What was he going to do now? It was wet outside and cold in here. From what he can see there was no nothing to start a fire within this area. The rain had intensified, pushing him back further into the crevice and into the darkness behind him. As much as he didn't want to do this, he had little choice, but to venture into the depths of the dark cave in search of warmth.
His feet pattered along the hard ground as he maneuvered his way through the dark cave. Tin's heart fluttered in both fear and frustration. No matter how hard he tried, he could see a darned thing and going back would be a moot point seeing as it's raining harder. The echos of the rain seemed to have grown louder. The sound bouncing off the walls around him. Quivering still from the cold, he hurried along. Carefully dancing around across and occasionally sending loud 'Tins' as he crashed into a few rocks and walls alike.
Finally, he grew annoyed. So much so that his feathers were beyond ruffled! What he wouldn't give to have something in his belly or to feel the warmth of another. It made him miss home with all of it's familiarities and friends, but he'd decided to make it out on his own and stubbornly he's kept his convictions this far. Moving on, he started to notice a dim light showing through from just around the corner. His eyes blinked twice in disbelief. Is that to the outside world? Curiously, he made his way to the light.
Winding around the corner, he found himself staring into a large cavern, illuminated by Illumises and Volbeats. They were swarming. Their glowing bodies seem to dance far above him near the roof of the cavern. Below him was a stream of water and odd green patches of moss that grew along the banks. The stream was wide, but a bridge made of stone allowed for pokemon of all sizes to cross. Along the walls were holes leading to areas beyond his sight. Vines grew down the walls, slicked with moss and droplets of water. The cavern was filled with other pokemon. Some which he's never seen before.
Tin looked on with amazement, his little body still shiver from the cold which had now seeped into his body. He swore that he could feel it in his bones. With uncertain steps he hopped down from the hole he entered through to the ground level. It wasn't too far from the bottom, but the last few hops have left him winded. Tin felt weak with hunger and cold. Too weak by now to go on. With a final tin filled peep, he laid upon the moss cover floor. Sooo soft, he thought quietly to himself, feeling his consciousness slowly slip away. A days walk and half a day worth of running plus no food and this chill that had stuck with him had left him tired.
He could hear footsteps draw near to him. If he had the energy, he would've looked up or at least greet the creature that now loomed over him. It's shadow had eclipsed him and soon, he found a great hand slowly picking him up. Tin peeped in panic, all words escaping him as he was being held, defenseless, by what he recognized as a Darmanitan! He stared up at her and sigh as she pulled him close into a tight embrace. Her dark eyes seem to have recognized the bit of desperation in his eyes. She cooed softly to him, “I've got you little one.” It was strange. Hearing something so huge speak so gently. Perhaps he was getting used to angering every large thing that came his way.
As he sensed her settle against some rocks, resting far away from the water and towards the moss covered walls. She whispered to him her name, Maki, as she settled down and pulled him tightly against her. He replied simply to her, “Tin.” and once more with the last breath he could before sleep could take him, he added, “Thank you.” Tin was warm, feeling as if a sun was burning deep within him now as Maki held him close. This was how mother must have held me when I was just a hatchling, he thought. I like this...
For now he rested, listening to her deep breaths. Tomorrow was another day, filled with more adventuring and perhaps a few questions for this new friend he has apparently made. It call all wait for tomorrow.
--------
The Solution to Darkness is Light
More than a week had past since he's met Maki. She was a young Darmanitan, no hatchlings of her own, but she'd been wanting one for a while. It had just so happen that he fell into her world at just the right time. Perhaps it was perfect for the both of them. Just when he started to bring up his own sad memories, he'd found her. She had been kind to him, scavenging both outside of the hold and inside for food. She even made a small nest next to her's as well though he'd tend to sneak into hers in the middle of the night. It was always warmer that way.
He spent enough time with her to make him forget of his past and that was perfectly fine with him. Tin was happier now. Though he tend to escape the hustle and bustle of the pokemon hold to venture about outside. He once made himself near a town. A strange town to him filled with strange people. He knew they were humans, but a few were much more different than the usual that you'd see roaming about. Some had points to their ears, a few had wings. It was rather amazing. He had return to that town at least twice now. Returning to Maki a few hours before dusk for supper and a little bit of training. She had been teaching him how to hone the energy inside of him since he showed up one evening, late, from one of his adventures...
Tin was battered and bruised, more so than usual from his hurried movements through the darkened tunnels. The worried expression blurring Maki's usual excited demeanor stuck in Tin's mind since he saw it.
“What happened, Tin?” she had whispered, picking him up and examining him carefully before placing him down in her nest. She had settled into a little niche to give the both of them the feel of having their own home. It was a bit further from the river, but closer to the cluster of bitter berries that Maki would use as dinner. Near it though was what she had told him was a special herb used to help heal injured pokemon. He explained when she returned to his side what had caused such injuries.
“I...I'm sorry for worrying you, Maki.” he murmured, brilliant blue eyes gazing away from Darmanitan in shame. “I just couldn't see in the dark and I was rushing home to keep you from worrying. I'm sorry that I'm late.” The soft downy feathers of his were ruffled as he stretched out his legs first so she could apply the herbs to them. She'd manage to ground it up nicely using her fist and grounding it into a paste. As gently as Maki could with one large finger, she applied the herb paste to his wounds. Starting with his legs, up to his wings and lastly his head.
“I'm fine now that that I see that you are alright, but I must know... Why were you so late, little one?” Maki's voice was still heavy with worry, but Tin could tell that curiosity had piqued her interest. With a few tin tin , he finally managed to tell the story. “Well, you see... I was wandering about the forest just beyond the mountains and I found this lady...”
Her brows furrowed as she glanced up at him, a skeptical look on her face. Or at least as skeptical as a Darmanitan could look. “This lady?”
“Yea, a lady. I helped her get to the town. She was really... strange.” Recalling the woman with the scales and body features that were more similar to a fish than anything. With glimmering deep blue scales, dull spines traveling down her body from her back and large horns protruding from her head. The water like hair that rolled off her shoulders, tumbled like waves. Sea-foam danced about her shoulders as she walked, tail sliding back and forth. It was most unsettling for Tin to assist, simply because of the water that seemed to flow from her like she was a source spring.
“Strange how so and...” Maki had just finished applying the herbs and leaned back for a moment. “Town? You went to the town?” Her tone a bit more serious than usual. The smile that was normal upon her lips seemed to droop in thought.
“Well, she was a fish lady... a-and I've seen it, but I've never been in it though!” He fluttered his wings for a moment, but quickly stopped when pain shot through his them. The last thing Tin wanted to do was worry her more. “Promise. I was really careful not to be spotted before meeting her.”
Try as she may, Maki could never stay angry at Tin. He was an adventurous Torchic, his feet tend to take him straight into trouble though and that concerned her. Her mind recalling the last time she had to steer him out of trouble. He had somehow managed to tick off a rather large and rather cranky Onyx. If Maki hadn't shown up in time, who knows where Tin would be. Sighing, she patted his head. “I guess it cannot be helped. You will be my little adventurer just promise me that you'll be more careful.” Waiting to see him nod in acceptance, she continued, “So, you helped the fish lady out?”
“Yep, yep!” he cheeped proudly. “She even thanked me and gave me a berry! My favorite kind as well!”
“An aguav berry?” she asked and chuckled when he nodded excitedly. While she'd been listening to him talk, there is something that she was moving about in her thoughts. “Tin... perhaps I can teach you how to hone your energy so that you'll be able to use Ember. It'll help find your way home when you're walking through the tunnels.”
Tin's eyes widen with amazement. “REALLY! You... you're going to teach me all that!”
She tipped her head back in a hearty laugh. A loud and booming, Dar Dar Dar, could be heard throughout the hold. “All that and more, my little one” She moved into the nest next to him and settled down. “For now, you should rest and I'll start teach you tomorrow morning.”
He snuggled up against her and sighed. “Aaaaaalright.” he murmured, clicking his beak together as a way of grumbling to himself. The little torchic was anxious. Tomorrow was going to be an exciting day filled with new adventures. It didn't take long for him to fall into a deep sleep, losing himself to his dreams.
“Good night, little Tin.” Maki whispered before she too fell into a deep slumber, starting off her own adventure within the dream world.

Making Friends
He had been working hard at understanding how to hone ones energy and it had been coming along rather nicely. Tin rested for a moment beneath the shade of the forest line. He didn't wish to wander too far from home this time, so he kept to the mountainside. He sighed, falling out of his meditation out of boredom once more. Maki had showed him how many times and still, just nothing. No matter how much he tried, he still could not achieve the level of concentration needed to focus his energy. He didn't feel any of the signs that she told him either and it frustrated him to no end. His feathers were ruffled indeed. Clicking his beak in annoyance, he decided to go for a little walk around the mountain. Perhaps it'll calm him and bring to the level of peace needed to meditate again.
With a huff, he set off. The sunlight playing through the green canopy above him created beautiful shadows of green, dancing across the forest floor. He'd try to catch a few of the shimmering light and chuckle when it managed to gleam between his wings for the moment when the leaves are still. The day was hot, but the wind kept it pleasantly cool and from what he could see of the sky, there was barely a cloud floating by up there. Today was a beautiful day.
“You're a strange bird, you know that.” Came a voice from behind him. It was a female voice. A strange, but familiar female voice. Though the fact that there was a voice there at all, startled him. He bounced up into the air, wings a flutter, and peeps a going. The sentence was quickly followed by laughter and a form appearing before him. It was the fish lady from yesterday, saluting to him and greeting him with a amused, “Yo.”
“It's you!” he peeped, pointing a wing at her and she nodded in response.
Her tail curled around him, the little ridges turned outwards to not cause him any discomforts. The woman's scales were smooth, a bit on the slimy end though, but smooth nonetheless. They shone brilliant colors under the sunlight. Amber eyes gazed down at him as the water flowed like a waterfall from her head. “I did say that I owed you something for helping me, didn't I?” From the folds of her dress, she pulled forth a bushel of Aguav berries for him. “Wasn't sure what a Torchic like you would like, but you seem to be the bold type, so sour berries should do fine.”
His eyes widen with glee. “You're giving all of those to me!!” He peeped, slipping out from her coiled tail and bounced about happily.
She nodded. “Yep. You were a helpful little guy, so you deserve it.”
Tin glanced up at her as he picked up the bunch of berries by the branch using his beak. “Oh, my name is Tin! What's yours?”
The fish lady paused, an unreadable expression past over her. A moment of silence followed before she finally inhale and respond. “You can call me, Qwee.” she replied, a smile pulled the corners of her lips upward. “Yes, Qwee. I do like that name indeed.”

Stepping Up in the World
The fish lady Qwee had been telling him tales of her journey. Strange tales of adventures to distant lands and of her 'liberation' of other people's 'booty'. She called herself 'The Savior of the Sea', or at least the Robin Hood of the sea. They were all interesting stories and it gave Tin a goal of sorts. Though he'd never want to be anything to do with the sea. He did not like the water one bit. So he'll be the normal Robin Hood – Qwee was gracious enough to tell him the story of Robin Hood since he had no idea who that human was. She'd visit him more and more often, meeting him in the middle of the woods. Sometimes she'd bring Aquav berries, though most of the time, she'd feed him human food. Cake was by far the best. Strawberry cake, blueberry cake... the berry filled cakes. Oh so delicious!
Besides his time with Qwee, Maki has been sharing some of her fighting styles with him. This made him happy. She was like a mother to him in every way and he had begun to call her mother. She cared for him, scolded him when she thought he was out of line and was helping him become stronger everyday. For now, she was teaching him to utilize what he had. She taught him how to use his claws and to startle foes with his growl. Though he really didn't have much a growl which always made her chuckle. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't help, but laugh each time he tried.
“It's not funny.” He complain to her one day. His downy feathers ruffled in embarrassment.
Laughing heartily, the Darmanitan raised back onto her hind legs. “Aw, I am sorry, child. I cannot help, but laugh. You are just so very adorable with your tiny growl.” She patted his head, feeling proud of him still. “Do not taking it personally, little Tin. You are still young yet.”
“B-but how will I be Savior of the Forest, if I can't strike fear into my foe's hearts?”
“Savior of the Forest? What exactly are you saving the forest from?” mused Maki as she settled against the walls of the Hold.
“From tyranny a-and corruption!” He responded, striking a pose as he did so.
Maki attempted not laugh, but it was hard pressed. Repressed snickers left her lips only to end with a sigh. A wide grin remained on her cheeks as she gazed down at him. “We're pokemon. Little of that happens here, but to know someone will keep the peace here if anything does is always pleasant to know.” Taking a deep breath, she pressed a finger to her cheeks. “Well, that will make me your teacher and I'm going to have to put you through more of a rigorous training!”
Tin fluttered, flapping his tiny wings hard enough to lift off from the ground for a moment in a burst of excitement. “Can we start now!?”
Grinning still, the Darmanitan gave him a nod. “As you wish. Get ready for some heavy training from now on!”
“Aaaaalright, Mama!” saluted Tin as he assumed the position. Thus starting their long day of training.

Firestarter
Resting in the woods comfortably in silence was the young Torchic, Tin. He was meditating. Working on gathering strength by focusing his mind on a single attacking, trying to hone the power within him. If he kept at this, he was sure that he'd learned ember. In fact, he had a feeling that today might just be that day. Might being the key word. He closed his eyes and hummed the way Maki would when she was concentrating. Tin thought of her movements, the fiery punch she delivered that shatters trees and stones alike. All that energy focused into one attack. He could feel the warmth in him grow and rise within. In a way, he was bracing himself for the fire that will soon spill forth from his beak only to open his mouth and have a loud burp follow instead.
He coughed and stuck out his tongue. “Eww,” he grumbled huffing softly as his feathers ruffled. “Guess it was far too soon.” Tin shifted from his position, hopping off the old stump and begun pacing. “I was so sure I had it. So very sure. Tin ” Tiny patters of his talon became a constant rhythm. One that was answered with a soft song. It was haunting, but the words feel in cadence with his steady walk. The song wasn't coming from anywhere in particular and in a way could be easily shrugged off as gurgles of the river. He wasn't too far from it. He listened for a moment more and found himself at peace. The young torchic slipped back onto the stump with a hop and a wiggle then settled quickly into his meditation. With the song of the river, he felt sure of himself for some reason. Sure that he could complete it. Sure that he can focus and draw out the fire within himself. Tin quickly set his mind to the task, focusing on nothing, but the heat in him. With the song's guidance he could feel it shift if only a little. A sense of heat rising up in him. Growing and growing until finally it was threatening to explode forth from his beak. And then...
With a yelp, a small ball of flame burst forth from his beak. Tin stared down at amazement at what was left of his fire. It was small now, nothing, but ember... In time, he knew it will grow to be something more. Though what this meant is that he could focus all of his power and energy into an attack if he was able to summon out fire from deep within. Fluttering to and fro, Tin flew off his stump and scurried back to the Hold as fast as he could. Excitement made his little legs shake and his stomach feel a little queasy though he was sure that it was just the fire settling once more. Pride made him stand taller as he navigated through the well used tunnels in the dark. He must have been quite excited because the darkness had no effect on him as he ran. No fear. No uneasiness. It didn't take him long to burst into the Hold, crying out for Maki.
“Maki, maki!! Momma, guess what!?” he peeped loudly as he carved a path between pokemon and ruins alike. “Guess what!?”
It didn't take him long to find the Darmanitan. She was sitting near their home as usual, tinkering with some of the herbs around them and caring for some of the younger ones. This time, a young slowpoke who seemed to have injured his head. She really liked caring for other pokemon. Some say she could have been a chansey in another life time, Tin wouldn't have been surprised. “Guess what, Momma!”
He'd finally made to her side and collapsed though his eyes never left her face. She spoke while still applying medicine to the whining slowpoke, her thick hands holding him still. “What is it, Tin? I'm a little busy at the moment.” she finished applying the ointment and slowly released the slowpoke. “Please, try to watch where you're going, Jak.” Her gaze finally swung over to Tin and her usual cheery disposition seemed peppered with worry. “What trouble are you in now, little one?”
“No trouble, Momma. I did it! I created ember!” he bounced up and down, unable to control his excitement anymore. It took a while before Maki registered what he admitted to. She blinked several times before her smile widened, her big arms scooped him up and pressed him to her cheeks.
“That's my boy! I knew you could do it! I just knew it!” she squeezed him tightly, almost to the point where he couldn't breathe anymore, but for the moment he didn't care. Even if it was a little embarrassing. “I'm proud of you, Tin.” She held him for a moment more before her grip loosened on him. “So very proud of you.”
He beamed up at her, swelling up with pride at his new accomplishment. Feeling as if now, truly now, the skies were the limit and perhaps the great unknown that lay past that as well.

Making Friends
It was a day like any other, bright and sunny with little to no chance of rain. The clouds were thin wisps that floated across the sky like schools of fish migrating across the great seas. Tin mused over the beauty of nature for a breath more before heading off west in search of adventure. He’s heard tales from other Pokémon fleeing from the area that there was a great beast there eating up all the trees and humans aiding its hunger. Running as fast as his little talons could take him, Tin eventually found himself in a wide open clearing. Deep tracks scarred the land leaving nothing, but gouged out dirt for as far as his eyes could see. This worried the little Torchic. It was far worse than he could even imagine. None of the stories could hold a candle to the devastation that seems to be drawing closer to his home. With a swell of courage and perhaps foolishness, he charged into the no man’s land with head held high and beak ablaze. “Come out evil beast!” cried Tin as he leapt onto the nearest rock, climbing till he was at its peak.
His voice carried over the dead forest. Caws of birds flying off from a distance and silence soon after was the only sound answering his cry. It was eerie.
The silence made his feathers ruffled as he shuffled about feeling an unease set into his heart. Tin shifted from his perch on the rock and hesitantly leapt off of it. As he made an attempt to return to the forest a piercing shriek caught his attention. Whirling around, the young Torchic caught a sight of a Scraggy, charging out from his hiding spot amongst fallen logs. He howled and leapt mightily with arms at the ready for fighting as he swung his head around. He looked and seemed to find no one, but Tin standing there in a clearing. Uncertainly, the Scraggy lowered his fists for a moment to pick up the bit of skin sinking down to his feet. “Are you one of the Forest Eaters?” questioned the Scraggy as he drew closer to Tin. The little Torchic couldn’t help, but draw closer as well.
“If you’re talking about the great beasts that did this, no.” replied Tin as he fluttered his wings slightly.
The Scraggy tilted his head at Tin. “If you’re not one of the beasts then what are you doing here, Torchic?”
“Investigating,” stated Tin. “I wanted to see the monsters for myself and maybe find some way to stop them, but I wasn’t expecting to see… this.” He motioned his tiny wings towards the destroyed portion of the forest.
“H-how long exactly has this been going on?”
Hanging his head, the Scraggy replied in a solemn tone. “Several moons now. Starting around sun up and ending just before the sun disappears from the forest.” Leaning in to talk with the little Pokemon more comfortably, the Scraggy had begun his introduction. “Names Rez.”
Bowing his head in respect, Tin replied. “I’m Tin. Did you live around these parts?” He tilted his head side to side as if to motion to the entire area.
“Yea, my bro and I used to, but… the monsters came when one day and ate everything! Humans were there with them, riding them!” Rez frowned as his mood turned down casted. “My big bro went after them and I haven’t seen him since.”
“I’m sorry, Rez,” spoke Tin as he leaned his head in for a sympathetic nudge. “but I’m sure we can find your brother and stop these monsters!”
The Scraggy looked up at Tin speechless and confused. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“Of course I’m saying what you think I’m saying! I’m going to stop those bad guys and find your brother! I am the protector of the forest, aren’t I?” If a Torchic was ever able to smile smugly, now would be the time. Tin felt confident in himself that he could accomplish all that he set out to do. Even if he was a little smaller than most heroes, he’ll find a way. Tin hopped of back towards the forest, heading home.
“Oy, if you are planning something…” started Rez, he bowed his head and kicked up dust for a bit before managing to find his thoughts again. “Come back and give me a holler, kay? I’d like to join up with you.”
“Got it!” With that, Tin hurriedly return home to plan out another day and perhaps talk with an old ally for advice

Making Wishes
When Tin awoke early that morning, he only had one thing in mind and that was talking to Qwee of the beasts. He rolled out the nest and swiftly made his way past Maki or at least as fast as his tiny feet could take him. When she made a noise to suggest that he explained himself, he only replied with, “Can’t talk, ma! I have a forest to save!” He scurried so fast pass all the familiar faces, not taking the time to say a single bit of hello or at least good day. This meet he was to attend, it was more important than anything else. Tin wasn’t sure when he’d next meet the pirate. She’d been absent for nearly three months. Letting this chance to speak with her slip through his claws was not something he could allow. Not when his home was in danger.
Now, the darkness didn't even hinder him. Well, maybe a little. He was still uneasy, but it mattered little compared to the stakes at hand. He chirped his name lightly as he ran along, regretting that he missed breakfast. It looked like she had his favorite bushels of berries too. He ran and ran until finally, the light at the end of the tunnel was right in front of him. Just as he leaped out, he crashed into something small, brown, and furry. Bouncing off and landing at the base of the exit, Tin shook off the shock. Gazing up at what he bumped into, Tin felt rather horrified. Staring back at him was an angry Eevee. If looks could kill, he'd be six feet in the ground. “I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean t-to-”
“Yea, yea... just watch where you're walking.” The Eevee growled, stepping around him and continuing on her way. A small boy Nidoran followed closely behind her.
“Sorry, Torchic. She's got a bit of bad attitude then again don't we all?” He nuzzled his cheek into the Eevee's side. “Ashni, you Hold't forgotten your manners, right?”
The Eevee, Ashni looked over to the two and sighed. “Yeah, what? We've lost our home, we've lost our families... we've lost EVERYTHING and I'm not allowed to be a grump?” she growled, baring fangs to the two other Pokemon.
Tin stepped forward, fluttering his wings as he inched closer to the angry Ashni. “If you need a place to stay, the Hold is always welcoming!” He motioned towards the entrance with his wings. “It's a good place to stay!”
Ashni gazed for a moment at the entrance before shifting her gaze to the Nidoran. “Jondo, what do you think?” She shimmied her body closer to the dark entrance and peered in. “Should we join this little feather ball's community?”
The Nidoran tilted his head and wiggled his nose. “Only if you want to, my dear.” He seemed like a gentleman, small and miniscule, but a gentleman altogether. He pressed his muzzle into her side. “Personally, I think it's a good idea. Not like we have anything to go home to...” The Eevee flinched and backed away from both the entrance and Jondo. She gritted her teeth and growled at the both the Nidoran and Tin.
“I know what we have and what we don't have!” Her ears laid flat against her head as she dug her nails into the ground. “You don't need to remind me...”
Tin teetered between the two of them, his eyes flicking from one to the other. “Ya know, it's safe and protected...and there's plenty of nice nesting grounds and nooks for you two to make a home in.” He paused, staring out into the distance in thought. “I'll put a stop to the creatures destroying your homes...”
The two gazed at him long and hard. “D-did you just say what I think you said? I know he didn't say what I think he said...” Ashni paced around him looking as if she would pounce him and kill him. It wasn't enough to make Tin back down not in the slightest. She rose up, flicking her tail side to side. Her head snapping side to side as she sashayed closer to Tin until she was in his face. “Are you telling me that you're going to 'stop' the creatures that destroyed our home and stole away our families!?”
Tin ruffled his feathers and stood on his tip-toes. “Yes! I plan on taking down these creatures. I already have a fellow Pokemon to help me. I'll put everyone right and be the protector of these parts!”
Ashni teetered backwards falling back into Jondo and nearly crushing him. Her sudden laughter startled Tin and Jondo both. He took a step back, unsure how to react to her. “Y-you!? You're tiny! Puny! How are you goina make a difference!? Huh, Pip squeak!”
That was a jab to Tin's pride and boy did that hurt. He bowed his head knowing he was to lose this battle. She was right. He was small and he had tried to never let that stop him from doing what was right. He learned to focus his energy, he even learned to spit fire! Now was that enough to keep his home safe? That was yet to be seen. What would Robin Hood do? His mama had faith in him and Rez depended on him. He couldn't back down now. “I'll find a way! I have connections and they will help me!”
Jondo seemed skeptical of Tin's capabilities, but whatever he thought, he kept to himself. The Nidoran was humble. It was a relief to Ashni's sneer. “Do what you want, Torchic... if you get fried, it ain't my problem.” She flipped her tail up at him and trotted into the darkness of the cavern. Tin huffed and shook his head.
The Nidoran stopped just outside of the cave and without turning around spoke to Tin in a soft voice. “I know you mean well, but please... don't give anyone false hopes like that. It's cruel for Ashni and for the others.”
Tin stood his ground with cheeks burning. “It's not false hope... I CAN make a difference.” he huffed and started to walk away when Jondo's voice picked up again.
“I want to believe you...but I just don't think I can at least not yet.” It was the last he heard from the Nidoran. When Tin turned back, the Pokemon had disappeared into the darkness.
This meet had added more of a burden to Tin's shoulders as she slumped his way towards the usual stomping rounds of Qwee. To his relief, he found her there. She sat cross legged, staring into the pond in deep thought. He hopped onto her lap and pecked her knee lightly with his beak. “Hey...” Tin murmured, a soft Tin escaping the tips of his beak as he settled down.
Stirred from her thoughts, the pirate shifted her gaze to the young Torchic. A quizzical expression plastered on her face. “Tin, when did you get here?”
“Am I really that small?” He fidgeted around, clicking his beak nervously.
Qwee tilted her head, the quizzical look on her face deepening. “No, I was just... preoccupied with my thoughts.” She sighed and leaned into her knees sending a stream of water tumbling down her shoulders onto her lap. Panicked, Tin fluttered off and away from her to avoid the water. “Sorry, there is much on my mind as of late.”
Tin sighed and tilted his head. “Well...same here.” He settled back down on a rock across of Qwee. She seemed a little green around the gills. “You okay, Qwee?”
The mermaid gazed down at him and she smiled softly. “Aye, I just had a scare when one of my own was lost at sea. I found him, but it seems that he had a lot to talk about with a prisoner of mines. They asked me a question that...well, I don't know how to answer.” She waved off any further questions. “What's wrong with you, little Tin?” Her words were kind and gentle, but it still stung to hear the word little.
“That's just it. I'm little!” he replied. What Ashni and Jondo had said to him earlier struck a chord in him. It made him realize that he wasn't strong enough to defend his home and that worried him. There was a danger in his homelands and he couldn't stop it. It created this pain in his heart. He so wished to be like the man in the stories. It seemed that it was impossible at this point. “I can't save anyone. Especially if the people I want to help don't believe in me because I'm so tiny and weak.”
Qwee reached down and patted his head lightly. “Oh, you poor thing. You shouldn't put yourself down like that. You are strong and powerful, but you must remember that you're young yet. I was a little fish once, ya know. I tried taking on the world and it wasn't easy. My siblings were constantly reminding me of how weak and helpless I am. Perhaps that why I turned and did what I did...” She looked pained by a memory, but with Tin sitting before her, Qwee quickly shook it away. “Have you heard of a Pokemon called Jirachi?” A thought crossed her mind, another tale to spin for the young one. Perhaps this one will lighten his mood.
Tin shook his head, eyes widening in wonder. “Whose that?”
The pirate chuckled to herself. “It seems there's much about the world you do not know yet. Perhaps I'll teach you a little with my tales.”
It was hours of stories that she had collected about this Jirachi fellow who goes around granting wishes to Pokemon. He was in awe once more, completely enthralled by her words and tales. By the end of it, he was close to running off to find one of these stars. She must have sensed this in him for she caught hold of him immediately. “Now, now don't go runnin' off so soon. I hear they're not that easy to find. Perhaps you can wait for night and make a wish upon a star. Maybe the fella will hear you and grant your wish. Then again he might not even be real... don't go getting your hopes up, kid.” Her smile seemed more genuine than when the first started talking. Perhaps a bit of story telling was good for the soul. It gave him an idea.
“Thanks, Qwee! You're awesome!” With out much more to say, he ran off towards home. He heard her laugh a loud and hearty laugh and speak words that he couldn't heart, but it didn't matter to him. What mattered where the people waiting at home for him. He hadn't forgotten the reason that he originally wanted to see Qwee for. He understood that it could wait for now. There were two Pokemon who currently needed hope in their lives and he was going to give it to them.
He had quickly scurried into the dark passage ways once more and made his way back home. Once back, he found that the entirety of the Hold was in an uproar with the news of the outside world. The two pokemon he had met earlier were the center of this uproar with his mother, Maki trying to calm down the horde of panicking Pokemon.
“What if they find us!?” cried one Pokemon from the crowd. “T-they'll enslave us or worse!?”
He heard the voice of his mother rise up to try and reason with the Pokemon. “They'll do no such thing. We are safe here in the Hold!” Osk stepped in once the crowd grew far to unruly with their cries. “ENOUGH!” shouted the old Golem. His voice rang out, low and thick. “Do not work yourselves into a frenzy just yet. There is much to know and we see only half of a fruit. Do we know completely if the other side is rotten or still ripe to eat? No. Let us wait and observe to see what these creatures will do.”
His voice was a voice of reason. None challenged him which to Tin's ears was a relief. He realized that now was not the time for stories. Perhaps it was not for their ears, but for his to take to heart. Tin backed out of the Hold and quickly returned back to the outside world. It was nearly dusk. The sun was setting quickly and he had yet to find the answers that he sought. He picked a trail up the side of the mountain, determined to find a way to the top to watch the sunset. It took a lot out of him to get to the top, but he managed to find his way just in time to watch the sun lower itself into the horizon. The sunlight glinted across the sea of green below him as a soft breeze rustled the leaves. It was a sight to behold. He sat there, thinking and thinking until the sun had finally set and darkness set upon the land. Tin didn't realize how late it was until the last bit of rays disappeared from the world.
It was dark now. The light of the world was completely gone. His eyes flickered from the rocky ground he was sitting on to the sky above. There was a sense of anxiousness about him as he found himself surrounded by darkness. It filled him with dread until his eyes found the heavens above. There were so many stars in the inky black sky that it left him reeling. “Wow,” he murmured, mesmerized by the tiny lights flickering high above. It made him feel that anything was possible. Anything. Keeping the stories in mind, he decided to make a wish. “Hey, Mr. Jirachi... if you're really real and listening. I wish to be bigger and stronger so that I can protect my mom and home.” He thought of his life up until now. Tin had lost his family from before and now that he's found a home and a new family, he doesn't wish to lose it again. “I really wanna become like those heroes that I've heard about. I want to be just like them. Please, can you grant me this wish?”
The wheel of time turned above him as he patiently waited. Tin knew Maki would be worried sick about now and waiting for a wish was near on crazy. He sighed and started to head down the mountain when he heard a voice. It sounded like someone had whispered, “Okay” to him. He turned around and found nobody behind him. Nobody, but a stone gleaming beneath the starlight. It was beautiful. It lit up the area around him, making him feel safe and secure. He heard the sound of Maki calling him, but he didn't follow. He could hear that she was making her way up the mountain. Tin figured he could surprise her with his wish perhaps she'll be happy at the end of this long day.
Tin drew closer to the stone, keeping his wish in heart the entire time. Closer and closer he drew until finally, he pressed against it. It was warm and it filled him with hope. His world went dark as he collapsed. The stars still dancing behind the darkness of his eyelids. The young Torchic was left to dream of days to come where he'll drive out the evil monsters from his homeland and he can see his mother's smiling face now.

Awakening to A New World(1050)
The soft sound of weeping and the feel of tears seeping over his eyes stirred Tin to consciousness. His dreams had be strange filled with many odd things. He looked over to his side to find his mother holding him. To his surprise and dismay she was weeping. “M-mama..why are you crying?” His wings felt weird to him as he attempted to move them upwards to touch the hand that rested on his shoulders.
She had gazed up at him this time, catching hold of his wings and holding it up for him to see. “What happened my, little Tin? What have you done?” Maki's voice was worried if not mournful and then he saw why.
At first, he had assumed that the star allowed him to evolve, but not looking at his hands, they looked nothing as they should be. “I made a wish, Mama.” he replied softly, pressing his hands against his form. “I found a star and made a wish, Mama...I promise it wasn't bad.” He hugged her tightly feeling a little chilly. The warmth in his chest remained, but it's fire had dimmed a little.
With a heavy, audible sigh, Maki nuzzled into her little one's very human visage. “Ah, my little one. I have heard of this...it appears that a certain Jirachi has been out causing wishes to come true everywhere.” She rocked him and although she was still a lot bigger than him, Tin felt as though his mother shrunk. He gave her a big hug with his new arms. Happy that at least he can return the affection that she always laid on him. “Perhaps in this form, you can achieve something new. You will always be my hatchling no matter what.”
“Mama, I love you.” Tin whispered, tightening his grip around her body
“I love you, too, my son.” She rubbed his back as she tenderly released his body from her grip. “Now, let us see what we can do about your bare body. From what I've seen, humans don't run around naked like a new born of their kind.”
He pulled away and glanced down, frowning and confused. “How do you know these things?”
She chuckled softly. “I've seen humans around before and I know a bit of their ways. Come along, let's see what we can find for you!” Since she released Tin, she had begun to straighten out and walk forward. It took him a moment to realize that she had carried him down the mountainside.
“Mama, where you going?” called Tin as he followed his mother through the darkened forest. Her hulking form pushed it's way through bush and bramble alike.
“To see some old friends...”
They spoke little as they journeyed through the maze of trees. She lead him to the very edge of the town to a large building. Before they could draw any further, a low and feral growl greeted them. With fangs bared an odd wolf like human came bounding out from the shadows. “The hell are you doing here?” growled a husky voice. The female cracked her knuckles as she prowled right up into the face of Maki. Tin bounced forward and darted between the two awkwardly, tripping over his new feet along the way.
“Leave Mama alone!” he cried in defense, throwing out his arms to block Maki.
Maki placed her hand on her son's shoulders and gently pushed him aside. “It's fine. Eve won't bite me.” With a smile, she banged her chest and hooted.
Eve growled once more before pouncing on Maki, pushing through Tin. “My, my!” howled the wild wolf woman as she tightly embraced Tin's mother. “Looky look who showed up, all grown up with a...” she turned and eyed up Tin, eyebrows raised. “a little one to boot?”
Maki hugged Eve back tightly. “Yes, yes. It seems that his wish back fired on him.”
The door rattled open as another woman, small and timid stepped out holding a broomstick. “Eve, it got quiet...are you alright!?” she said, her white feathery hair waving in the small breeze.
She pushed up her glasses and gasped when Maki fell into her line of sight. “M-maki! Oh my goodness, you've evolved and grew up! A-and oh my!” Blushing, she turned away and ran back into the house, dropping the broom as well. In a blink of an eye, she had rushed in and right back out with a handful of clothes and items. “My goodness, you're indecent...Maki!?”
“U-unfortunate wishes.” explained Maki as she released the wolf woman, Eve. Resting a hand on Tin, she pulled him close. “This is my son, Tin. Please teach him how to dress himself.”
“He's scrawny... and smells of fish...” Eve eyed him up as she circled him.
The feather hair woman pushed through Eve. “Now, now. Play nicely Eve. Don't mind her, Tin. She's just a grump.” The wolf girl huffed and growled as she took a seat on the stoop of the house. “In case you're wondering, we're old friends of your mom. In fact, so old that we took her in when SHE was just a hatchling. We kinda grew up together.”
Eve sighed, “Bring him into the the backroom of the house, my room and we'll talk there while you dress him.”
“B-but...I-”
The Darmanitan pushed him forward towards the home. “It's a home for strays like you. They take in children with no place to go, my little one. Don't be afraid. They're good people....”
Glancing over at Eve with a knowing smile before settling down against a tree. “Eve means well and Eva, well, she's a sweetie. You'll like her. Go on now.”
“Alright, Mama. I promise I won't take long~” He hurried in after Eva who showed him the way.
Eve huffed and cracked her wrists. “It'll take him long enough to figure any of those clothes out.”
“Yes, I know...” agreed Maki as she settled down to wait for her baby to return. Although he was now a Pokemon in the form of a human, she still accepts him as he is. Always...

Journey to a New World (1330)
“So they've taken the forest, hm?” spoke the feathery one named Eva. She sat, cross legged sipping on a cup of tea. “Not good...not good at all.” She shook her head, sighing into her cup.
“Tch, I knew something was up. It's probably that Rembrandt guy that came snooping around here...” growled Eve, her long nails digging into her arms. It was obvious that she was pissed. “I should've punched him when his ugly mug was still here.”
Tin gazed up at his mom who seemed to nod, amused by their reactions. “You two met him?”
Eva seemed to blush while Eve on the other hand slammed her fist into the table, ears laying flat against her head. She growled once again with fangs bared, but it was Eva that answered instead. “It would seem that he's seen me about during his stay...a-and thought I was fetching. So he came-”
“To OUR home and decided that Eva would be HIS bride!” If Tin thought she was angry before then he was rather surprised to see that she was even fuming. Angry enough for him to start to understand the saying about fumes from peoples heads. If that was the case, this werewolf's head was on fire! “THE NERVE! He thinks that he could just walk into a home and expect a woman to drop her life just for him!” The Torchic boy was horrified, inching closer to Maki. He grasped hold of one of her arms and held tight though she never noticed. His mother was too busy laughing heartily at the sight. Veins bulged as the fur and hair of her body raised with her fury. “Obnoxious, rude, and with absolutely no care for --”
Eva's melodic giggles as she slipped the saucer and her tea on to the table. “Now, now, Eve. He's gone already. There's no reason to fuss.”
“No reason to...Eva, he wanted to MARRY you! You wouldn't allow me to hit him! Not once!”
“There was no need for violence, besides what would the children think?”
“The children? What does it matter what they think?! The would've thought the same thing as well!” cried Eve as she waved her arms. The laughter of the children outside seemed to echo throughout the room. She peered out to the yard from the window and sighed. “The children would've thought the same thing or at least most of them...”
“Now, Rembrandt. He's the one wrecking havoc in the forest. Not sure what he wants, but I'm sure that mermaid would know. What was her name again...”
“Qwee” peeped Tin as he peeked out from behind Maki. He hoped that the enemies he was face was not as frightening as Eve.
“Ah, Qwee. Is that what she goes by now? I'm sure she'll know what to do though for now, you may want to seek for someone who could fix your forest. We'll figure out a way to slow Rembrandt down and maybe even stop him.” Though her voice was soft and gentle, there was a sort of commanding power in there that made the fire within him burn with a passion.
“You're right! We need to bring back the forest so that the other creatures that lost their home can rebuild it!” He'd gain enough courage to step out from behind his mother. “Though where are we going to find someone who could do that?”
Eve sighed, pulling out a warm bottle of milk from beneath her chair and popping the top open to take a swig from it before talking. “Any life bringing fey has long since left this place. Most aren't in favor of having a town so close to their beloved home. Besides, the forest here was one of the many homes they had. The only fey that still resides here are all young...”
They all fell silent. The only sound that could be heard were that of the children beyond the house walls. The sound of their games and laughter floated in through the open door. To them, the world was always the same. The sun rose and set, another day would come and go. The world seemed beautiful and unchanging. Tin recalled thinking like that, but then again. He still thought like that. Things will always remain the same in a way, but changes do happen. In small unsuspecting ways and it goes unnoticed. Maki caught him off guard from deep in thought. “There is a place. A place not far from here that can help us. Osk told me of a place he once lived...some place where all Pokemon's were safe. He stumbled into this world from that and founded The Haven as a place for all Pokemons to rest.”
“Aye, we know the story Maki.” muttered Eve as she downed another large gulp of milk. “You ended there yourself. It's like an orphanage in a way...”
“Mhm. Osk spoke of the world so fondly. It's a wonder why he even left. He said the way home was always near. Up past along the ridge of the mountain, there should be a ridge along the cliff face. Within that cave is the portal.” spoke Maki, her large hands holding tight to her son. “You should go out and seek out someone who could help us.”
With the fire burning hotter than he could handle, Tin nodded. “Alright, Mama!” Leaning in, he did a very human act and kissed her forehead. “I'll set out now.” He hurried out the door, setting his mind to the task ahead.
“Be safe, my little Tin!” she cried, watching as he sprinted back towards the mountain. A ping in her heart radiated pain as she watched as her only young bird finally learned how to fly. “They grow up so fast...”
Tin loved his new body. Now he was able to run distances that he wasn't able to run before, jumping higher yet still keeping the abilities he had before. He puffed out a small stream of fire before licking his new lips. The world was new and odd, but he loved it all! With his new legs, he quickly propelled himself up the cliff face with no fear. It took far less time than it did when he first attempted the climb to the top.
It took a while to find the entrance that was described to him. Hidden well behind moss and vines, the cave was dark and moist. He nearly slipped and fell with how damp it was in here. It made him nervous. Tin, stepped carefully, taking in the deep breath that will calm his racing heart as he entered the darkness. It seemed to go on for what felt like forever and Tin felt as if he'll go crazy. It was then that he noticed the light in the distance. Small, but promising, it seemed to grow as he grew closer. At some point he found himself running towards it, anything to get away from the darkness he so despised. Finally he was engulfed by the light and Tin found himself soaring through the air.
“Oh smeagles!” cried Tin as he flapped his arms in a failed attempt to fly only to land in water.
Crawling out of the water, he grumbled under his breath. Tin shook his body free of the water and found himself speechless by his surroundings. “Whoa...” There was a short amount of clearing before the treeline begun. The land seemed lush and beautiful even the mountain that rose to his left seemed to stand tall and proud. This world was more beautiful than he'd expected and it made him almost shed a tear. Almost. He started off in the direction of the forest. Excited to start a new adventure in this new yet old world!
