Apoc had told her to meet him here... that he had a surprise for her. He had never given her a surprise before so of course she was early. An ear flicked in the breeze as she kept her head low to the ground, munching slowly. Her short tail flicked as well, and her golden eyes remained closed as she enjoyed the silence.

- Combat Rolls -

Each horse will start with 10hp, this keeps things relatively short without holding either poster hostage for a never ending fight. Whoever reaches 1/10 hp first will lose.

Each horse will roll 2d20 per post. However the initiator will only have to roll 1d20.

The first d20 rolled will be for the 'reaction', the second will be for the 'attack'.

Whoever gets the highest number of their roll, essentially wins.

Example:

Horse 1 rolls 1d20: 5
Horse 1 attacks with a 5

Horse 2 rolls 2d20: 18, 6
Horse 2 rolled a higher number than Horse 1's attack of 5. They therefore dodged the attack successfully and retaliated with a 6.

End of round one - Horse 1 10/10 Horse 2 10/10

Horse 1 rolls 2d20: 3, 7
Horse 1 rolled a lower number than Horse 2's attack of 6. Horse 1 loses 1hp. Horse 1 retaliates with a 7.

Horse 2 rolls 2d20: 14, 8
Horse 2 rolled a higher number than Horse 1's attack of 14. Horse 2 dodged successfully and retaliated with an 8.

End of round two - Horse 1 9/10 Horse 2 10/10

Hidden in the brush, he waited. She had come, as he knew she would, there had been no doubt in his mind. And though he too had been early, he let her alone for a while. Let her relax. The more off-guard she was, the easier it would be to start this confrontation off his way. It was time to begin her real training. Now she would learn how to truly do some damage, but she would learn his way. Grinning, he finally galloped out from behind her, turning into the run and angling his shoulder for a tackle with no warning. He would tell her what was happening. If he felt like it.

Kath expected nothing. And even if she did, it would not at all be anything like this. Before she knew what hit her, she saw a flash of pink and then a throbbing, hard slam into her. Her eyes widened in sheer surprise and the air was knocked out of her a moment. Were she not mute she would have likely screamed at the top of her lungs.

Before she could even manage to gather herself, instinct took over and she was a mess of flailing hooves. She didn't know if she was attacking or defending, for all she knew, a tree could have fallen on her.

At least, he decided, it was better she flail like a fool than turn tail and run or some other, less appealing scenario. That didn't stop him from being somewhat disappointed when her messy--was it even an attack?--was dodged by simply jumping back and away. It did make it somewhat difficult to get his own retaliation in, but no matter. Rearing back, he drove his hooves in towards her, aiming to catch her legs and knock them away. And still he chose not to speak. He would see how she reacted when it finally sunk in just who was attacking her.

She was still too much in shock and taken back to defend herself much. The weight of his body, and the force behind it knocked the breath out of her again. Again a rush of air came from her in the slight sounds she could even make.

She finally saw who or what it was that was coming after her. Her eyes flashed in terror and more than anything she wanted to get away. Everything she had built her foundation on seemed to be shattered instantly, the one she followed endlessly was attacking her, outright. What had she done that was so wrong?! She tried to scream at him to stop, and she couldnt.

Again, it wasnt even an attack, but an attack to scramble free, her hind legs tried frantically to push him away, even if that wouldnt be much.

Snorting, Apocalypse danced away from her legs again. This time he was sure she wasn't actually trying to attack him. That, he found, was even more disappointing. The look in her eyes made him angry, as well. She would never win a fight like this. What good would she be if he couldn't count on her for backup? He supposed now was the time to begin pushing her towards his goal, otherwise he feared she would simply melt into a cowardly puddle and learn nothing from this little match.

"Fight back!" he hissed, tail flailing wildly out behind him as he kicked his legs at her again. "Are you so weak? Prove yourself to me!"

Again she took the hit, this time as she listened to his words, it was as if she stopped moving all together and forgot she was even defending herself. He... wasnt attacking her to hurt her? Her ears flicked as he eyes narrowed a bit, more because she was trying to sort through the rush of thoughts and emotions, instead of out of anger or annoyance.

She was on the ground, no longer scrambling as much, but after he landed those last couple taunting hits and words she reached out firmly with a back leg, aimed right for his knee as if to give a very sharp 'Knock it off'.

Haughty of him, but the stallion thought for a moment that her slowly diminishing flails were a sign that she was giving up completely. After only three hits, was she so ready to stop? Maybe this would prove harder than he had anticipated, but that didn't mean he wanted any less to do it. She had to be able to fight. If she was going to stay with him, she had to. He cared for her, more than he had ever bothered to care for anyone but himself, but he was not a protector. There were far more important things to do than watch over a weak mare.

Lost in his thoughts, he missed her movements even as she finally put real effort into an actual attack. Her aim was certainly good and it caught him squarely on the knee, causing it to jerk and buckle, leaving him reeling until he could steady himself. Hissing under his breath, he spun quickly, kicking his back legs out to retaliate, although with one of his front knees now likely to bruise, he found it painful on only two legs.

Through the pain, he smirked cruelly. Yes. Fight back, he was finally able to think.

She felt her hoof connect hard with his knee and she figured she had gotten her point across, she failed at again trying to protect herself, and failed to realize he wasnt going to stop. Again, she was hit. But this time it continued to fuel her annoyance of this stupid game and her ears started to pin.

With his back legs aimed toward her, she finally started to get up. Doing so, she focused on the same leg as before, but this time from the back. She aimed for the already, surely bruised knee and this time kicked hard trying to make it buckle from behind, hopefully enough to cause him to fall over himself.

So he had caught her again. Part of him was hoping she would be able to get out of the way in time. Half the battle was defense, she needed to learn that, as well. Although, when he turned and so easily left himself open to her next assault, he probably should have been thinking about his own defense and not hers.

The kick caught the knee it was intended for, sending him stumbling forward, a surprised shout catching in his throat. The landing was rough and uncomfortable, down on his knees. Grunting, he fought to keep from going down. He would not end up flailing on the ground the way she had. Struggling back to his hooves, he quickly tossed his weight in her direction.

She was still left open as she was shifting her own weight to get up before she was pushed back down by his equally clumsy attack. By now, it probably looked like they were just falling all over each other. She grunted and snapped at him, ears still pinned. Although it was more of 'Get your fat a** off of me!' than a real attack.

Of course, his intention had not been to make a fool of himself in the process of tutoring her. So, when he realized that's what this match had turned into, leaving him lulling into a pile on top of her, he quickly struggled to stop it. His knee hurt, but he still had significant fight left him him and was able to skirt away just before she was able to catch hold and bite him. After a moment to steady himself, he was standing again, lifting a hoof to stomp on her.

Seeing that he just wouldnt let it go, and he was intent on this stupid game she forfeit defense for a move that would quite possibly end this charade. She took the stomp down on her, and it stung, and had she known better she would have felt like he had broken a couple ribs. For the moment, that was fine... she was still under him, and he wasnt protecting his belly from her.

She shifted and flipped to her back under him and used the force of both hind legs to fly straight up into his belly and groin. She was beyond annoyed at this point...

The blows landed hard on the stallion's open underside, knocking the wind out of him and sending him teetering, barely able to keep standing, with a string of curses falling from his mouth. That had been more than he was expecting. It was almost impossible to think now, but there was some form of pride in him. She obviously had some ability, now all he had to do was mold her into a real fighter.

For a moment, he lowered his head, thinking he could use his best advantage. However, as the haze slowly cleared, he realized he didn't want to risk goring her too badly. This was still a spar, not a match to the death. Instead he charged forward, meaning to tackle her the way he had done in the beginning.
