Dark and damp... those were Imryns favorite kind of days. Though as much as she wanted to enjoy the storm from the safety of a darkened corner somewhere, she was stuck out in the elements with the rest of her team. The rain wasn't so bad, ok it was bad but it was the wind that was really doing her in. Fighting to stay in one area, wings beating furiously to try to keep her from being blown off to who knew where, Imryn then headed off towards one of the courses to get started.
"Did you know that the wind can get so strong it carries away whole buildings?"
"Oh please tell me you are just going to be quiet and not do that the whole trip..." she groaned.

Though apparently the lepus' comment about buildings being blown away was a preview of things to come for the day. Before even getting started on her course, a very strong gust of wind blew up and swept her off somewhere else.

"For the love of jack... these wings can be such a pain sometimes..." Imryn grumbled as she regained her bearings once the wind died down. Seemed that she was close to another course... Rock Climbing. "Huh, well it could be worse... and I really don't feel like trying to head back right now." Seemed fairly easy enough, and if nothing else, she had her wings to fall back on if needed. Though somehow it seemed like cheating if one were to just fly the whole way up to the top... so Imryn prepared to climb her way up.
"Did you know that eye scream comes in 61 different flavors?"
"I don't see how that's going to help me... but you probably aren't here to help much anyways huh?" Imryn replied, glancing back over her shoulder at her little passenger.
"Did you know that the sun is made of spookies?"
"I'm going to take that as a no..."

Mitzi looked around at her teammates as they huddled together under the torrential downpour. It didn't matter what she had expecting, but after the sunny, sandy beach of the last location, this was not it. Even after the mess that day had been, she was pretty sure she'd rather be back there than here. Soaked. Getting cold. And it didn't sound like it was going to get any better.
The introductory explanation completed, someone handed her a backpack, and she looked inside. Almost before she had finished unzipping it, a little green head popped out.
"Did you know that baskets can be hazardous to your health?"
The ghoul blinked at the creature looking out at her. A lepus guide, huh?
"Hi, little guy. Guess you're supposed to help me out, here?"
"Did you know that I am a pencil?"
She'd take that as a yes.
She slung the backpack over her shoulder, and looked at the courses available. She could just make a stable out through the rain, and anything that involved riding appealed to the Reaper, so she made her way there.

As Mitzi made her way down the path, the rain occasionally obscuring her way entirely, a sudden gust of wind pushed her to the side. She almost missed the path to the stables and headed off down another of the paths, but the lepus guide popped out of her backpack at just the right time.
"Did you know that the snow dash is that way?"
She froze in place, glanced down at her clothes, and resolutely checked the paths again before continuing. She'd tried snow before, and could do without it, thanks. Especially dressed as she was.
It didn't take her much longer to reach the stable, and she was quite happy to get out of the rain, at least temporarily. She left a wet trail as she passed down the line of mounts, looking them over. The slight hunch in her shoulders, caused by the nasty weather, disappeared and a grin crossed her face. She had always loved the idea of horses, and, well, there was a pony! Not quite the same thing, but still close enough.
As she approached the animal, though, it eyed her in a way that made her slightly nervous. She reached out a hand slowly, trying to pet its nose, and the creature nipped at her! She only didn't end up bleeding because she yanked her hand back. A bit disappointed, she backed up. Maybe one of the other mounts would be better, this one seemed to have already taken a dislike to her.
The ostrich looked fast, but not particularly strong, and both the wolf and the dragon looked dangerous and no more friendly than the pony. At the end, though, stood a goat. Not exactly something Mitzi would think of riding, but it seemed disinterested, which was better than antagonistic. She tried walking up to it, and when it didn't attack her like the pony, she rested a hand on its neck. It gave her a look, but no more, and so she climbed onto it.
Well, looked like she had a noble steed. Now off to the course!

OPEN RACE COURSE
The mountain goat was not particularly comfortable to ride, but it seemed very sure-footed as they started upon the path.
"Did you know, mountain goats are made of cheese?"
Mitzi was so startled by the lepus, that she almost fell off her mount. Luckily she managed to pull herself back into a stable position just in time for them to reach the first checkpoint. She reached out and grabbed the flag, and with her mind already on her lepus guide, she wasn't surprised when it grabbed the flag from her and hid it in the backpack. Well, at least this way she could focus on riding her goat, and not on holding all her flags.

OPEN RACE COURSE
Her mountain goat continuing on the trail, the Reaper just held on, letting it do its job. Her lepus was silent again, for which she was thankful, as the thing hadn't been particularly useful. The jolting of the goat's run kept her paying attention to the path, and finally up ahead she saw another flag. She couldn't help but grin, excited about how well this was going.
As soon as she grabbed the flag, her lepus was out again, before disappearing with it back into the backpack. She was just as glad that this time he didn't feel the need to "edify" her with a useless and probably false factoid.

Mitzi almost missed the third flag, as she had really expected to have more trouble and wasn't looking for it coming.
"Did you know that flags are green like me?"
The little creature was actually useful, as even though he was wrong, she knew what he meant. She noticed the flag just in time to reach out and snag it, and then she handed it over to her lepus.

OPEN RACE COURSE
The path up ahead had been damaged, and the ghoul noticed just in time. She spurred her trusty goat forward, encouraging him to pick up speed. He made a giant leap, right before the part of the path that was out. For a moment they hung in the air, and Mitzi was terrified that they still wouldn't make it. It was a close thing, and her goat stumbled as it landed, almost slipping, but finally they were on their way again.

Unfortunately, the large leap had slowed them down, and the damage continued for a little ways. Now that Mitzi was closer, she could see that the storm had blown free several boulders, which had damaged the path as they fell. The remaining holes in the path were smaller, which was good because they simply wouldn't have had the momentum to cross them otherwise. Still, by the time they got past them, her goat was visibly tired. She let him shift to a slower pace to catch his breath, but he was getting cranky and she could tell.

Mitzi thought they were finally free of the damage to the path, but she was wrong. She even might have seen the debris on the path, if not for the rain, a dip in the path, and her lepus.
"Did you know that the sun is a mass of incandescent gas?" he asked, tugging on her shoulder.
She turned to look at him, not sure at all what he was talking about, and therefore was not looking when they were finally close enough that she might have seen the damage. She was almost thrown off, and when her goat started forward again, it was clear he was just about ready to be done with this.

OPEN RACE COURSE
As the path finally fully evened out, Mitzi was hopefully looking for the last flag and the end of the course. And therefore she wasn't paying attention to the lepus, which really, she should have already been figuring out was a bad plan.
The little guy had climbed out of her backpack and forward onto her goat's head. She only noticed when he climbed between her arms that were holding onto the goat's neck. "What are you doing?"
"Did you know that goat's ears are removable?"
He tried to demonstrate, and the goat had had it. He started bucking, and both Mitzi and the lepus went flying.
The ghoul was lucky to land not too far away, bruised and battered but otherwise unhurt. Her mount dashed away, though, and she wished she'd at least had a chance to thank him. As one of the bogeymen came to remove her from the course, she managed to stand on her own and waved him off from carrying her. He still insisted on taking her to the infirmary, though, which she didn't argue too much. She could use a chance to rest, and maybe even someone checking her for bigger injuries, before she had to run the next course.
