User ImageIt had been a good few days. Free from the pain and rasp in her chest, free from the agony that burned like fire in her joints. It was empowering, really, being able to move without an ache in her body. Liraz could almost feel normal - or pretend she was, at the very least.

Though Orla warned her to stay close, Liraz was not one to listen. Why waste a pain-free day? It was strange, really, the closeness she'd formed with her half-sister. Unlike Furaha who seemed to resent their father and the other family he had, Liraz did not hold such a grudge. Orla, bold and outgoing where Liraz was not, had come to be a welcomed sight, though often a bit too bossy. Liraz knew she meant well.

Even still, mobile days were cherished. And this day, Liraz had made her way to the borders in hopes of finding her father, or at the very least another guard who might enjoy a little company.

The white lion moved forward with thundering paws. All of his family were large lions, and he was no exception. Other than his dainty mother his family seemed to tower over others. He was not a graceful lion, not really.. He tried his best, and he attempted the skill that the other pirates had. But he was more the Will Turner to his brothers clumsy Jakk Sparrow. He was the odd pirate. The one that if he hadn't been born into the pride, no one would have likely tagged him as a pirate.

But he was proud of his heritage, proud of his family, and proud of his pride. Catfish had been proving himself to his pride since his adolescent days. In turn, now that he was an adult crewman he was scouting on his own. Only trusted pirates scouted by themselves, mainly because a lot of the pirates were really not very trustworthy.

His mind was busy, stuck on the idea of the love lost.. He hadn't realized he had loved her. Leaving her and vowing to never return to her was hard. Knowing she was okay with it was even harder..

Liraz hadn't expected to stumble upon a stranger. Her father would kill her, and so would her mother. And her sister. Probably her brother too. They were so stifling sometimes, overprotective. Even still, she loved her family, and so the sight of the large male caused Liraz to give pause. The lioness was not quite worldly enough to realize that hiding might be the best route to take, and so she merely stood there, watching him with vibrant green eyes.

"Hello?" Her voice was quiet, the greeting almost chirp-like. Her head slowly tilted to the side in childlike curiosity.

"Are you a... a rogue lion? One without a home?"

He had been thinking, though just of what was hard to say. He would have likely walked past the female had she not stopped him with such a small voice. He paused, and arched an eyebrow as he looked at her.

"Hello." He said simply. He was unsure how to proceed, but she seemed incapable of causing him any real harm. He just had to worry about ambushes.

"I am afraid I am not, love." He said , and shook his head. "I live in the land of the pirates. A good land."

Then it was his turn.

"What of you? Are you looking for a rogue lion?"

Was she ...looking? For a rogue lion?

That question gave Liraz pause. Her visions as of late had been clouded, troublesome. She'd been led astray by them before, and because of that she was hesitant to listen to them again. And yet, despite that... there was something about this male that was familiar to Liraz.

She simply couldn't understand how... or why.

"I don't.. think I am. You stray close to the boundaries of my pride." Liraz gave a small smile, a sad smile. "Do you have a few moments to spare, perhaps? Can you tell me of your pride? What's it like? What do you do there?"

Her saddened gaze softened his features, and he frowned. He hated seeing a sad female. He hated it a lot. It was like his mother, when she was sad it was hard to sleep at night.

"Oh. I knew I was coming close to something. The markers further back warned me. I suppose I thought I had more time before I needed to detour." He answered, and then walked closer to her, sitting in front of her.

"I suppose I could spare some time." He was never the type to leave a lady in need. Ever. If she wanted his time, he would offer it to her. Why wouldnt he?

"Er. Well." He didn't want to tell her he stole things, even though..thats really what he did.
"It's relaxing. I can do what I want, and I have a strong, loyal family. We swim in the ocean a lot." He responded, and cocked his head.

"What do you do?"

"Ohh, lets not talk about me." She gave a sad smile. It would only sour the mood, speaking of her own pride, and today was the first time in a long time that she actually felt well enough to stray close to the borders. "I'm much more interested in learning about you."

While she'd heard tales of the rogue lions that someones lingered at the borders of the pride, Liraz had never met one of her own. It was so thrilling, so exciting, and she desperately hoped that he wouldn't turn tail and run when she pressured him for more information about himself.

She scooted a little closer, bright eyes locked on his. She gave him what she hoped was an... encouraging look, but it might've just come off as a little creepy.

For a moment, he wondered about her reluctance to tell him about herself. He wasn't sure what was wrong, but he wasn't too keen to see a female t his way.
"I'm far from interesting, my sweet, of that I assure you." He chuckled, and shoulder nudged her gently.

"I'm a pirate. We steal, sometimes.." He admitted. "Some of us lie, but I don't. For the most part we are a tightknit family." He smiled at her, figuring that would be all she would want to hear before she would scorn him and leave.

When he said he was a pirate, Liraz's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Is it exciting? The life of a pirate, I mean. Do you get treasure? What kind?" After her moment of verbal onslaught, Liraz gave pause, looking rather sheepish.

"I'm sorry. I was.. born into these lands and. Well, it's... a sickly place. I've always been sick, so it's always behooved me to stay close to home." Her eyes widened again, "But don't be alarmed. You ... can't catch anything." Even as an adult it still mystified Liraz on how it all worked.

"I'm.. I'm Liraz, by the way."

He enjoyed the excitement he showed. It had been far too long since he had smiled. This time he did, chuckling and nodding. "Aye, I get treasure. Like the items I carry, and much more." He said, motioning to his turtle shell shoulder pad. It was one of his most treasured trinkets. He raised it up a bit, exposing a piece of gold. It was in the shape of a coin, and it glittered with all the ferocity gold could carry. He unwrapped the chain from his shoulder, and held it in his paws.

"Here. Now you can be your very own pirate." He said, smiling softly. He was a geunine soul, and he liked others being happy.

"I am Catfish." He said, and wondered if she might make fun of him for the name. "And Im sorry you live in a sickly place. You are far too pretty to be locked away. Like a princess in a tower."

Liraz almost burst into tears.

Almost.

As it was, her eyes glistened with tears as a sudden sharp pang of realization thudded in her chest. It hadn't been Ndale she'd seen in her visions. She'd been so certain of it when she was younger. So sure that Ndale would be the one to give her cubs, but now.. now she knew she was wrong.

As she clutched that chain in one paw and fell back on her haunches, the tears threatened to spill over.

"It's you," she said simply. "It's always been you, hasn't it?"

He saw her tears, though he didn't understand why she shed them. Maybe it was because her life was as sick as she said. That made him frown. But he reached out a gentle, though huge, paw and touched her cheek.

"Don't cry. I'll be whatever you want me to be, just don't cry." He smiled, his eyes and expression warm.

"What do you mean, it's always been me?" He asked.

"I've had a vision of you, you know," she whispered softly, breaking enough to simply nuzzle her cheek against his paw. "Except... I saw it all wrong. I saw who I wanted to see. What I wanted to see." A soft laugh broke past her lips as she sniffled quietly.

"Spend some time with me? A few days? Will you be missed at home? I just... it's the way things are supposed to be. I can't explain now but. Later. Later. For now just... tell me of your family? Your homeland?"

She wasn't going to have to ask him again. The charming male in Catfish allowed him to grow a liking towards females rather quickly. He smiled at her, nuzzling his nose under her chin.

"Alright. I will stay with you. I will tell you everything, and keep you company. Maybe one day, You can visit." He said, th ough he knew that it wasn't likely. He still could give her hope.

"Now sit right back, and I'll tell a tale." He began.
