The leopardess kept an eye on the sky as she traveled. There were clouds on the horizon, but they would likely get stopped by the distant mountains. It was a great pity, considering how hot it was down below those misty peaks. Aggra cast around, trying to find water. It was so unbearably hot, she was positively dying of thirst. When she did manage to find her knight in shining armor, he would be so very wonderful at finding any and every water source so that she might never go without.

Zafrina skipped around the desert-like atmosphere happy and worry free due to the lack of water. She had nothing to worry about out here. No water to keep her fears at the fore front of her brain, and the beautiful sun to shine down on her pelt. It was a fine day, but her mouth was beginning to disagree. She could feel it becoming dry and knew it was near time to find a source. But she wasn't looking forward to it at all. With an irritated sigh, the lioness rolled her eyes and grumbled under her breath. Extremely annoyed at her own personal needs.

Ah...there! The telltale glint of sunlight! Aggra knew much better than to run in this heat, but she made her way swiftly toward what she'd seen, hoping and praying to any relevant gods that this wasn't just another mirage.
To her joy, it wasn't. The leopardess immediately knelt down and began lapping at the cool, life-giving water. Not too much and not too fast but oh was it delicious.
After she'd had enough to relieve her, Aggra realized that she had, for a few long moments, let her guard down. Green eyes widened and she looked around, alert to dangers once more.

It took her a while to get there, but she was finally successful in finding the water. A shiver ran up her spine as she looked it over, knowing she would have to go closer to get a few laps of it. For a moment, she didn't even notice the leopardess as she sat drinking her fill of water. But she did take note, as the female turned her attention back, as though she had sensed Zafrina's presence.
Taking a quick faltering step back, she took a defensive stance, and spoke up with a bit of toughness in her voice.
"Easy." She grumbled. "Im just here for the ... water." She spat distastefully, though not directed at the leopardess, she soon realized it might be taken that way.

She hadn't expected anyone to get so close in those few minutes! Good gods, the lioness was right there! At least this stranger seemed...well, didn't seem as if she was going to attack the leopardess.
Aggra moved away from the small pond. "But of course...it's not mine. I'd imagine you're as thirsty as I was!"
She had to wonder though, why the lioness was so...unhappy about the water. It was a vital part of life and well there wasn't enough to swim in here, let alone bathe, she couldn't understand the antipathy.
"Is...is something wrong with the water?" Hopefully not, she'd just drunk a lot of it. Though, it had tasted fine to her...

Zafrina nodded in appreciation, easing her stance and taking her steps forward once more. She had expected a bit of a fight, though she honestly didn't know exactly why she expected such a thing.
As she reached the water, she leaned down, staring at her reflection within it. She could feel her muscles tensing and she knew it was better to quickly sustain herself and move on.
Before she took a lap, she took in the leopardess' lines before quickly answering. "Nothing that would harm you. It's more a personal vendetta." She explained, taking a sip and eyeing the female to prove she wasn't in danger of anything. "I just have an unexplained distaste for water. I assure you - you're perfectly fine."

Aggra had never in her life heard of such a thing - a lioness (or any creature) - who hated water? It seemed so...so foreign. And, dare she even think it? - stupid. Well, maybe not stupid. But shortsighted. At least the lioness seemed to understand how important it was to life, but the leopardess simply couldn't understand the grudge.
"Unexplained is right," she commented softly, under her breath, not intending for the other female to hear her.
"Well, I'm glad to know that the water's not harmful - I'd be out of luck if it was," she joked, though it may have fallen a bit flat.

Zafrina chuckled lightly at the female's half hearted joke. She wasn't very good at them either, which sort of put her at ease. Maybe if she told a horrible joke, the leopardess wouldn't think much of it either. A simple laugh, and a change of subject that wasn't so bad.
"Oh yes, I imagine a lot of us would be out of luck. But lucky for us, we've got tons of it!" She smiled awkwardly and sort of laughed before quickly shifting gears. "It's sort of odd to see other's this far out in these parts. What brings you out?" Her question was prying but true, out in these parts you rarely saw a lion that wasn't meant to die and this leopardess looked healthy enough.
"I-I'm Zafrina by the way. In case you're a little weirded out by a stranger asking your business."

Surprisingly, the lioness was friendly when given the chance. Aggra smiled back, glad that her poor attempt at humor had been taken so well. "I wouldn't call this 'tons', per se," she replied.
"Oh, nothing in particular, I just travel and I happened to be going this direction. That, and the water in this place right here, that is." There was something about this lioness that she just didn't get. The aversion to water was so odd, but other than that she seemed perfectly friendly.
"Aggra," she gave her name simply. "And I do hate to drink and run, but I was hoping to find some real shelter tonight," the leopardess backed a few steps away, preclude to actually leaving.
"Perhaps we'll meet again, eh?" She rather thought that if it wasn't late enough in the day for her to be thinking of nighttime shelter, they would have a good time sitting and talking.

"Hmm, well in any case, I wonder how you're taking to it." OK she wasn't just nosy, she was REALLY nosy. But it didn't really bother her that she was this way, because she'd always been like this.
She cut herself short on learning the leopardess' life story when the leopardess began to back away. Wow she must be really bad company. But one look at the sky provided her with relief, it was getting close to dark. She should probably find some shelter as well.
"Ah well, good luck with that Aggra, perhaps we will meet again!"
She dipped her heard respectively to her new found acquaintance and returned to lapping at the water. Her tail quivering throughout the entire drink.
