All Roch had wanted was to get to his dorm room, find a mirror, heal that annoying burn spot on his back, and crash for the night. He had almost gone looking for his granddad, since he would be able to do it for him--but then the interview guys had come.
They were REALLY interested in him. He'd been in one of the teams that had almost won. Sure they probably were going after the ones that HAD won even more than him, but there was far more attention than he wanted, regardless. He tried to shove past them, but they were persistent, shoving mics into his face and shoving at each other even more ruthlessly than he had ever imagined shoving them.
"Why do you think your school deserves to participate in the Trials?" the most ruthless of the reporter ladies asked, shoving the mic into his face.
He looked at her blankly, having not even thought of that until she asked. "Well, I dunno if you knew this, but Amity's one of the most famous schools around, y'know? Plus, we've got four of the horsemen coming to school here--as teacher assistants or something. I mean, I've been in at least three classes where they've helped. They're really good at FEAR stuff."
Wait, were they supposed to know that? He had no jackin' clue, so he started forward again.

Another mic was shoved into his face, this time by a vampire looking man. Roch raised an eyebrow, wondering if assaulting an annoying reporter would get him kicked out of the school.
Probably.
"What was the hardest moment for you to overcome during the last Trials?" the vampire asked.
Roch took a moment to look thoughtful. "Probably when the water stole my crab," he said. "I was gonna EAT that, you know? I bet it would have been delicious. I blame it on the Kraken, of course. I bet that tentacle jacker ate it all by himself. That's seriously rude, y'know?"
The strange expression on his face made Roch certain he wanted to ask why the kraken hadn't been the hardest part, but Roch moved on past. Losing food was way worse than fighting off a massive tentacle, if you asked him.
Speaking of which, he never had gotten his crab dinner. Dangit.

Another mic was shoved into his face. The ghoul must not have believed his last answer because she asked, "What was the hardest moment for you to overcome during the last Trials?"
"I just answered that," he said, pushing past her.

Another mic was shoved into his face before the woman he'd just blown off could try again. Really, he thought, they needed to listen to what the other guys were asking!
"If you were the winning group, what is the first thing you'd request to the Four Clans?" the ghost woman asked.
He looked at her blankly. "You mean we can make requests?" he asked. "Hell, I figured they'd just give us what they wanted to give us." He looked at her strangely. "What would YOU ask from guys like that?" he asked her, images of everyone being pressed down until they were crushed by just ONE of them dancing through his mind. "You ask me, it's smarter to take what's given and be thankful."
He walked on, starting to question the adult's intelligence seriously now.

"What do you think of the trials so far? Are they dangerous?"
He'd almost gotten to the door of the reaper dorms by this point. He cursed his luck, sighing inwardly as he looked down at the mic shoved into his face. He usually liked mics. They came with music and karaoke! But this was starting to get on his nerves.
"Are they dangerous?" Roch repeated. "So far? Nah, not really. Sure the sun was a pain in the a**--one of my team is an ice demon, she wasn't having a good time, but it was pretty fun for me! There were all sorts of cool stuff on that beach," he told them, grinning as he remembered. "Now if you guys would excuse me," he said, opening the reaper dorm door. "I got a shower to take."
Then he shadowstepped away, leaving them behind. For now.
((WC 709, oh well))
