This is a PRP between Sarangerel [[Bikicakes]] and Yue Lao [[Face Your Demons]].
Setting: Yue Lao's dear, dear friend Sara has just received her letter indicating she intends to take off into the mountains for an indeterminate time. Yue Lao is going to meet her in person, to see her before she leaves, and get some cuddles in. Also, she wants to see Sara's new temple!

It was daunting. A daunting task. Yue Lao was an awful navigator in the first place, but finding new places she had never been before was the worst. It was a good thing she had someone to help her navigate on Legion journeys, because otherwise she'd just get her fighters hopelessly lost. Yue Lao had been studying a lot of maps lately... a lot of maps. But nothing had prepared her for this.
This journey to Sara's temple. The gorgeous, sweet Lunarian had finally been promoted, very closely to Yue's own promotion, and so she had become skilled enough to merit her own temple. Yue didn't understand how any of that stuff worked. Not even a bit. She was trying, so that she could learn her weapon projection magic, but it was difficult when her natural skillset was so far from magic and all that she had to concentrate just to learn the simplest tasks. Still, Yue fixed her mind on Sara, and just tried to make it to the temple so she could see her face again. Especially now that she was planning on leaving for a very, very long time... well, what seemed like a long time, anyway.
Yue Lao set Hime-san down before she took what she assumed would be the last turn before the temple. "You're heavy and you're making me sweaty," she told the monkey, with a grimace. Hime-san chittered at her angrily and rushed off into Sara's temple, trying to locate the woman on his own. Yue Lao sighed; even though the monkey had gotten much better, he was still a brat when Sara was around. To everyone but Sara, anyway. Well, this was it. Time to face the music.
Yue Lao took a deep breath, smoothed out her white cheongsam with its silvery-grey embroidery, and headed into see her dearest friend.

"Priestess, you have not been sleeping well lately - is there something wrong?" Kairie asked, concerned. Sarangerel was sat at her desk, scrolls and tomes littered the area surrounding. It was true that the Priestess was not sleeping, the mass amount of text that had invaded her study area said that much. She was going through a rough patch, sometimes she could not sleep because of the voices in her head, sometimes she woke up in fits - unable to breathe and a couple of nights ago she even awoke levitating half a meter from her mattress. It will pass, she told herself, it was all part of being a Priestess, a understandable reaction to the sudden increase in power. Nobody got this close to death without suffering some kind of repercussions. Her pipe was resting in her fingers, smoke dancing towards the roof and mingling with that which was being emitted by her incense burner. A fine mist was forming around the roof of the study, the smell of herbs and perfume was dominant.
The Priestess smiled, resting her pipe on her burner and folding her arms. Her assistant was younger than her, shy, timid, always stumbling over her words - now who did that sound like? After a moment she stood up from her desk and wandered over to her, resting her long fingers on the girls shoulders. "No. I am fine, honestly. It is nothing you should be concerned about." She shook her head, her eyes meeting the other girls. It was only part of a lie, she was not fine, but she knew there was nothing Kairie could do so she saw no point in worrying her. "Very well. I... just want you to know I am here, if you need anything." Sara smiled, she was lucky to have such a caring assistant. She always kept Kairie close, she was a good person, sweet and innocent. Sara did not want the war to change her like it had done herself, so she did all that she could to shield her from it.
"What I need is to know my schedule for today, how is it looking?" She thought a change of subject was needed, the Priestess let go of her assistant and strolled to the window, long layers of clothing across the floor followed by her thick hair. The garden was her favourite part of the temple, there was a small pond filled with koi and a cherry tree. Her little haven, one of the only places where she could meditate and feel at peace. Kaire looked down at the book she always carried, flipping the pages to find out what today had in store. "Well. First off we have to-" The girl started, but stopped as an orange creature jumped on her back.
"GODDESS LUNARIA! WHAT IS THIS THING!" She called as the monkey reached over and stole her book, Kairie ran in circles, reaching behind to try and remove the creature from her person. Sarangerel's hair snapped back, but her serious face melted when she saw what the attacker was. Her face went soft and a smile spread across her face. "Hime-San!" She called, opening her arms as the monkey jumped into them. "Y-you know that beast? it tried to kill me!" Kairie declared, her face turning pale as the creature started to rip pages from her book and put them in his mouth. The teal haired woman could not help but chuckle, stroking through his thick ginger fur. "Oh do not be so overdramatic, Hime-San would not hurt a fly, he just wanted a hug." She stated, squeezing him tight and pushing his furry face into her bosom.
She then put him on the floor. "Take me to her boy." She ordered and in a flash the monkey was out the door, soon followed by Sara, who followed behind slowly, this dress was not something you could really run in. "But P-priestess, you have a mee-... she is not listening. Just do not be late, okay?" Her assistant called, watching her Priestess walk down the hallway, not taking note of her plea's. She sighed and shut the study door, knowing it was a battle she had already lost.
Hime-san took her to the main hall, candles edged the room letting off a soft light and incense burners let off a soft floral fragrance. A state of the Goddess was at the far end and from the other rooms came a soft singing, Sara did not even notice it anymore. She turned the corner and her pale eyes scanned the room, soon to see a familiar sight. "Yue." She said softly, she did not really know what else to say. It had been so long, so much had happened, what could she say? The Priestess made her way towards her friend, moving as quickly as her attire would allow.

"GODDESS LUNARIA! WHAT IS THIS THING!" Someone called out, in response to Hime-san stealing her book. Hime-san was merely terrified of the woman and her incessant screeching, so when Sara reached out, he was more than glad to leap into them and cuddle against her, while giving the woman such a stare she should worry for her eyes. If Yue Lao had been there, the halls would have been filled with her raucous laughter.
Yue Lao was staring at one of the sticks of incense, her nose wrinkled. It smelled like perfume and flowers. Or trees. Some other foliage junk she couldn't place. It was true that she kept the garden for her family, but those were mostly grapes. Which she'd have to borrow from in order to start her own, now, though the soil wasn't so agreeable outside her new home. "My gorgeous Sweetpea," she said back. Yue Lao couldn't scoop her up like she used to, because as heavy as Sara's dress had been then, it would knock them both out if she tried now. Her fur collar shifted gently against her face as she undid the cloak and folded it over one arm, revealing her pearly cheongsam in full. She looked nearly respectable.
Without more of a pause, Yue Lao stepped up towards Sara to bridge the gap and wrap her arms around her dearest friend. There was no one, apart from Jianyu, of whom she could say she felt this way. It almost made her want to be a good lunarian. Almost. Yue Lao held onto Sara so tightly that it seemed like she would crush her into her own self and combine them into one person. Hime-san was chittering at them from the floor, having jumped out of the way. He sort of grabbed onto the two women's ankles and held on, one in each hand, looking up at them.
"I missed you," Yue said, "looks like we're both all grown up." She looked around the temple. "Pretty fancy setup you've got, sweetpea. Respectable!" Yue Lao grinned, and eyed the candles and incense. The chanting was making her uncomfortable. Or singing, whatever it was.
"I have to ask, though... how do you not get lost in here? I feel like I'm in a weird dream." Even though she felt like that often, now.

Sara gave Yue the biggest hug she could manage. Though where Yue's arms were hard muscle, Sara's were nothing but soft mush, so she could not hug as tight as her friend. Still, she tried her hardest to. She buried her head in Yue's hair, taking in her comforting scent. "We still have some growing to do. I fully intend for us both to grow old, toothless and fat. We will go around town, drink tea, talk about the glory days and boast about our Grandchildren. Though I suppose you will still get in trouble, even as a fragile old woman, poor unsuspecting fools would never suspect Grandma Yue with her walking stick.... I wonder if Hime-san will be hairless... Maybe Jianyu will have a beard." Sara joked, though in truth could not imagine Yue ever being fragile, even at the age of one-hundred she would be tough as old boots. Sara fully intended to grow old with her friend, and was almost looking forward to it, though they had many fun events to deal with along the way.
She scratched her chin and looked around, giving a nervous chuckle. "It is not actually mine. Priests do not own earthly processions." She mumbled, despite everything Sara still did not have a penny to her name, she was just cared for, very well it seemed. "However as far as accommodation goes this is amazing. I did not think I would ever live in such a beautiful place." It was along way away from the little farmhouse she grew up in. Sometimes she still thought she was dreaming, at any moment she would wake up and still be in the Academy. No, she earned this, she had to stop thinking it was too good to be true... even if it was.
The Mongolian clapped her hands together, eyes lighting up when asked the question. "I have a spirit guide. There are lots of really nice spirits living here, and they have made me feel so welcome! Besides, I spend all my time in one of three rooms and even I can not get lost between three rooms." Sara looked around, maybe to Yue this place was void, but Sara saw the spirits here. Maybe if her friend could hear their chatting and laughter she would feel less uncomfortable. It was funny how the living seemed to be the more solemn of the two. When you were dead you really did not have a care in the world.
Her eyes moved down to Hime-san, who was clinging onto them like a lost sheep. She was about to open her mouth to speak when. "Priestess!" Sara heard a voice echo down the hall. She grabbed Yue and started to run in the opposite direction to where her name was being called from. The monkey stumbling but jumping on his owners shoulders, reluctant to be left behind.
"Now quickly, we need to hide before my assistant drags me away to a meeting. The woman would keep me on a leash if I was not incharge, though I doubt that little technicality will stop her for very long." The priestess came across a door, and dragged her friend into it, closing it shut behind them. It seemed like she had led them... Wait, was this a larder? I mean yes, the conduit fully intended to lead them to this place. She laughed, oh well, her assistant would never think to look for her in here.

"I'm never going to grow old," Yue retorted, wrinkling her nose. "Wrinkles wouldn't suit me. See?" she gestured up at her own cringing face. "This is not the face of a mythical warrior, Sweetpea. And how could you possibly ever be fat? Or old? Wait, grandchildren?!" Yue had gone on a rant, and was only derailed by this last gem of a thought. Other tiny Yue Laos running around? There would be no rest for anyone. Not to mention she could hardly imagine being pregnant-- not yet! She was still only a captain!
Yue Lao massaged her temples and shook her head, before laughing. "There is no one else quite like you in my life," she finally summarized her thoughts. Then she grabbed hold of Sara again and pressed her dear friend close to her, squeezing a little too tightly again before relinquishing. It was so good to see her again... "A spirit guide? Does it see and hear everything you do, or is it respectful of your private space? I'd feel weird about having spirits follow me around-- but you know that magic was never quite my strong point."
She'd been trying to learn how to attach fire to her weaponry for quite some time, now. It was taking a lot longer than she had planned. Being a badass was difficult. It was very likely that Yue would have been more at ease if she'd been able to think of the spirits as friendly or at least active individuals. As it was, she was deaf and blind to the denizens that shared their world.
"You? On a leash? That would be adorable!" Yue said, clapping her hands together and grinning widely. "I would rescue you, fair Sweetpea," she reassured her, quickly. And then the smell of food overwhelmed her, and her stomach grumbled. She hadn't eaten in a bit; she'd been too busy thinking of this meeting. It had been hard, keeping her resolve firm: she had to leave to the mountains. She had to. For her own peace of mind.
