The Mines are an interesting place. Only a few are still actually controlled by the King's men. The remainder are controlled by the Crestfallen gang. The resources are then sold to the merchants for enough money to help feed the people of the Slums. Sadly, production in The Mines hasn't been well lately, so the condition in the slums has deteriorated recently. Things have become even more dangerous of late as Heartless began appearing in The Mines. While the numbers are low and easy for the Crestfallen to handle, things will not be this way in the near future.
The interior of the mines is well lit thanks to the many lanterns hanging upon the walls. The miners have built an incredibly well built structure within each of the different mines so the likelihood of a collapse in any of the mines is highly unlikely to ever happen. While you may not find many people within The Mines, you are likely to find a few Heartless, and even some special treasures if you're lucky.
